Hey Everyone,

October proved to be a productive month for the Grasshopper Team. We produced more units than ever and have converged on a reliable, repeatable assembly process. Using feedback from backers we were able to pinpoint necessary design tweaks to increase reliability. Small initial batches allowed us to apply these tweaks as soon as they were finalized.

Just after our last update we received our largest batch of new parts to date. The shipment contained over 180,000 individual Grasshopper components. After inspection, everything looked great and we’ve entered the new parts into our production line.

Assembly over the last few months has gone much slower than anticipated due to parts revisions, the difficulty of the process, and delays with machinery and suppliers. Our current capacity stands at about 1300 Grasshoppers per-month, but as we mentioned previously, parts revisions and new machinery will be drastically increasing throughput.

If everything moves smoothly we should get the large majority of the units out this month. We will have the shipping estimates updated on the website shortly. You are all incredibly close to receiving your Grasshoppers and we look forward to completing fulfillment.

We’ll have another update on the 15th illustrating our progress.

Is that one of the machines in the background that is supposed to make these shipping estimates more realistic? As a backer I understand my role, but I thought I was also investing in a seat to watch the journey as they grow. With the lack of transparency and blind optimism, this hasn't even been enjoyable to watch the development. Taking your time is fine, but why does every update sound like a sales pitch?

Oh, and wheres that Ron Paul gif again?

Its a press for the screens. The screens are shipped to the main flat, so that machine will fold the legs 90° so that the screen won't rest on the heater.

Precisely. What's worse is that someone needs to place and extract each screen, no feed process. Of the things I've seen this one is particularly irritating, it doesn't matter which side of the screen is up so.. yea. However it could be a relic at this point.

I could think of a way to speed that up, or many..

Is it really necessary? The guy in the video above finished 4 in 30 seconds. Multiply that over one 8 hour shift and you'd have over 2500 screens...I doubt it's slowing them down at this point...

I just feel like it's probably cheaper to pay one of the workers to press them for 3 or 4 hours 2 or 3 times a week rather than spending time and money automating it haha not that I really know anything about the costs involved in such things

I think an ' Oversea ' employee could have expedited
that manufacturing process 10 fold before shipment ... jmo

The GHL has a way of re-wording their updates to the same
degree of vagueness .

Agreed. I feel like they might just write a good update, then put it through a content vaporizer. We're getting the ABV and it's pretty well extracted.
True, but the ABV has gotten so used and recycled.. It tastes like ass and is not very enjoyable. Hope there was a nice bag of the good stuff in their batch as well and they will find their flavor again.:luv:

Would love to see the backers getting their (reliable working)units soonest! Cross my fingers for you :nod:
