Mivape arrived today, its charging now. One question I have is, is it normal for this "stuff" (not sure what it is) to be in the heating chamber?

*un boxing video coming soon*

In the first version it looked like heat insulation for the bowl. Kind of a mini cloud evo. If you've seen the cloud evo opened up there is insulation around the core chamber.

IMO, this helps sheild the bowl from excessive heat. My original unit that ran hot so hot the interior bowl area cracked.

I hope this issue is addressed in the new version. I'd hate to have to turn in another model because of cracking interior bowls. Here's hoping it doesn't happen on the new ones.

Can't wait to see mor @Archaicrevival Hope you're enjoying a nice vape.

Greetings, below is what vaporfection sent me today about replacements

Our last e-mail to you was to inform you that our miVapes were expected to arrive at our warehouse last Friday, September 18th. Due to an unforeseen inspection before leaving, the miVapes en route to us were delayed by several days; they have since been cleared and are now back on their way.

The new expected date of arrival is September 28th, 2015. We apologize for the inconvenience and will have your replacements sent out as soon as they arrive, along with an e-mail with tracking information.

Please remember that if you have not returned your old unit(s), make sure to do so as soon as possible in order to get your replacement sent out.

If you have any questions, please reply to this e-mail, e-mail support@vaporfection.com or call us at 866-997-6111.

We appreciate your patience and support throughout this matter.

Kindest Regards,

Your Friends at Vaporfection

I just got off the phone with Dan, he informed me that grey cloudy area in the inner chamber is in fact insulation and is normal. Now, I wait for the initial charging phase to complete and will be back later today with a review. Until then here is an unboxing...

Notice the battery may seem hard to get out, but as the unit is new this is to be expected. I and Dan discussed this and it is most likely that once the unit is in use and becomes warm the battery should slide right out.

Thanks @Archaicrevival

I held my breath until I saw the recessed logo! I also noticed the battery latch change. Does it sit flush on a flat surface or still tilt slightly?

We wanna see some clouds next :smug:

Greetings All,

Thanks for all the questions. Let me take a moment to answer some concerns.

First, new units are available through VaporNation and their network of retailers; these are new units with the latest changes.

Second, the shipment to our warehouse in Florida was delayed (as explained in an e-mail sent this morning), but our shipments to VaporNation and other distributors worldwide were not and have been delivered. This is why there has been a delay in replacements going out as well as units becoming available for sale on our website, but that will change soon.

Third, as some members expressed concern, the replacements are coming from us, not VaporNation. We understand this may be an inconvenience for some of our customers, but per our warranty replacement procedure we have in place, we are the ones who will be handling the replacements, not VaporNation.

Lastly, as mentioned in prior posts and discussions with some members - there are a few noticeable differences with the new miVape; the biggest is the logo on the side being recessed as opposed to raised. Also, as demonstrated in the lovely unboxing video above, the flip-top and battery lid are much sturdier and the battery door closes flush now. Other changes include updated user guide and shrink-wrapped box.

As always, we're here to answer any questions so write us an e-mail at support@vaporfection.com or call us at 866-997-6111.

I've been told the batteries will last longer if you let 'em charge a bit longer on the first charge kinda like leaving a solo or no2 on a charger overnight(8-10 hours) for the first full charge will help extend the battery life for a couple hundred more charge cycles, Important to some vape owners.

May or may not be factual and of any use with the mivape, just info from the interwebs and that has been passed on and sometimes harped on here on FC in a few threads, some people take it as Gospel truth and others say there ain't no truth to it.

Just thought I'd share it here too.

I talked to Dan a bit ago and he said that the suggested charge time of at least 3 hours should be enough for most users but as some batteries are a little more or less charged upon shipping, so charge times may vary and 4 hours or more may be required for FULL charge. He also informed me that these batteries are good for over 1000 charges. I'm going to let it charge fully, Right now it is at 80% with a charge time of 4:03:10.

@Archaicrevival How does the top lid feel? is it loose or does it feel solid?

Is the mouthpiece assembly easy to remove from the body of the miVape with the release button?

What temperature are you vaping at and how are the results?

Could we get some pics of the top lid/hinge and the battery lid/hinge?

Thanks

Yes, I got the message from vaporfection about the 28th.....Kind of disappointing but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Looking forward to seeing more from Archaicrevival while we wait for ours.

I also got the 28th email. Originally ordered from vapornation, then dealt with Dan directly. Truthfully, i don't mind the wait at all considering how the owner backs his product! Thanks vapornation and vaporfection!:)

I'm getting a refund back. I got tired of waiting. That's all you do is wait on vapes due to this or due to that (nothing against Vaporfection or Dan, just tried of the waiting vape game). Plus to be honest, between the VaporCup, QD500, VapeXhale and my enails; I really have no need for the miVape (while good from what little I did get to use even though it didn't work properly). Plus if this Grasshopper (hopefully get mine in Nov) is as good as folks keep saying, I can use my refund to get the TI version and still have $$$ left over.

Video on the way, being produced now. Some things I forgot to mention in the video Yes the new Lid is sturdy and feels like it should. Yes the battery lid is also strong. Also as a precautionary note wait until unit is fully cool, about 15-20 mins before using Nylon brush on inner bowl, I almost ruined the unit by melted nylon as I thought it was wirebrush.

@Archaicrevival thanks for the vid. Here's to midnight tokers (at least in my area). These were the same results with the fist unit but in the 200f range. So this is very promising. Also those satisfying audible clicks with the latches make me feel better and can't wait to get mine back.

On another note did Dan happen to mention when we can expect to order extra batteries and if there will be an external charger?

Thanks again for your demo. Glad you had a mic to hear your every impressions.

He didn't mention it but I'm sure extra batteries and other accessories in the future.

I'm waiting to see if this Vape is a Mighty/Crafty killer. As people receive these and if you also have a Mighty or Crafty, please report on flavor comparison. I'm also interested to hear about heat up time, maintenance, and build quality comparisons (and anything else notable), but flavor is number one for me. With the mounting S&B warranty and customer service issues discussed in those threads, I'm ready to jump ship.

Based upon the first updated model review video, I wouldn't jump ship just yet. It looked like very minimal vapor for the amount of herb used.

Hey NJ Kaptan! Coming to Philly to see the Pope?

I'm not jumping ship yet because my Crafty is still ok. But I'm hoping this or another portable Vape will bump the Crafty and Mighty off of the top review tiers with all of their customer service (and reliability) complaints. And I'm a big fan of convection.

I had the original miVape and have a Mighty and Crafty. The miVape (as much as I did like it) is not a Mighty/Crafty killer. To me, The Mighty/Crafty are easier to maintain, way better build quality, easier to load. The miVape is cheaper, taste/flavor was even (maybe a little more towards the miVape), heats up way quicker, you can set your vape time, has a replaceable battery and you can have preloaded bowls. The miVape and Crafty are closely the same size.
