Steven definitely did not produce the coloured ball rigs. Saw those all over DHGate before he started to carry them.

Seriously? Removed the link to "counterfeit" item? That's like half of DHgate >.> Can we not post about the pnwt clones either?

If it has a phony logo, it's crossed the line into "counterfeit" IMO. Feel free to report any such items and I'll delete those links, too.

:peace:

Ohh ok, didn't know about the logo thing. Good to know. They do say the product you get wont have the logo but the pictures did

Hi all,

Ordered a piece from SunshineSS a few months ago but it met its tragic fate last night so I'm looking to replace it. My piece looked quite a bit like this one from Ying. I'd like to get something a bit more interesting, yet still fairly compact (nothing more around 10 inches tall).

I'm also concerned about qc - and it sounds like Steven's store is hit or miss. Is ying the most reliable seller these days?

The GB-194-1 fits the bill. Mine was perfect, the base broke recently (my fault) and I like it enough to buy a another one to replace it.

In my experience, Yingmin5 seems to have the same build quality as sunshinestore glass (for the most part). CleanClearGlass seems to have the best build quality from what I've seen so far. And after handling 7 pieces from Steven, I can safely say that while his glass is thick and he produces some cool designs, his quality control is extremely insufficient. Shoddy welds, crooked bases, crooked percs, bent mouthpieces, etc.

That doesn't mean Steven's customer service isn't good, he (or Jane?) seems to take care of most everyone who isn't happy with their shipment (as long as you take pictures of the problem). But the build quality still isn't there. You're almost better off buying 2 or 3 copies of the piece up front just to ensure you get *one* that might work better than the other two.

Ya I definitely agree about CCG having the best build quality. Hard for me to declare them the "best" vendor though as both purchases from them had problems. First purchase they sent me the wrong colour and the second purchase was broken yet still functional. I received replacements for both relatively quick and would definitely order from them again but still hard to call them the best.

This. My FC-1000, as much as I love it, has a mouthpiece at an odd angle, pillars are not quite vertical, base isn't quite flat, 18mm joint isn't quite even. None of these issues affect function in any way, but when you are paying more than the other vendors on DHGate, it shouldn't really be an issue at all.

I've got CCG's Peyote Pillar copy on the way, and from their shots (along with their track record), it looks like it will be much more consistent in terms of quality. Should be here Monday - I'll post side by side shots.

Do you doubt that metal alloy is nasty?
Metal toxicity is very real. How many aluminum pipes do you need to see in a headship to realize these factories are willing to use high profit margin materials?

What happens to the ceramic particles as they are disrupted and start to crumble. All of my ceramic is textured, no longer smooth after one sesh.

I don't see a place for ceramic, as the banger perfectly tuned for the material is just a superior product to me.

Do you see anyone reviewing these alloys with some sort of scientific process to understand what we are making glow-hot? I would love to follow that thread if you link us.

It hurts my heart to see people poison themselves in the process of medicating.

I personally don't see the need to heat metal until it's red when I could just use Quartz. Also, the metal flavor is very strong to me.

Do you disagree that there is a stigma, or that unhealthy materials are often found in Chinese pipes? The stigma line was taken from the mouth of a person who buys many hundreds of pipes in a popular headshop. He should know the stigma, as he talks pipes all day. The article needed (in my opinion) to address this in some way.

I think there really is quality to be had, but the average Joe isn't on the 751st page of this thread. We all might be a tad in love with all of the innovation we are witnessing unfold.

Even our fav sellers on here still put out duds. Stevens new water test (posted above) is a straw.

I rated my fab egg 8 of 10 considering the price.. I think that's pretty positive.

In any other industry, crooked glass would be B grade, and wouldn't go to an A grade market. If you got a case of crooked wine glasses from target, there would be no bs. That isn't the case with many of the sellers here.

These are just some thoughts of mine. Love hearing your feedback. I truly wanted to tell it from a balanced perspective. It's not all skittles and rainbows. Almost all of the collectors that push this thread forward have had a negative experience.

I am thankful we have this thread. I think I check it more often than I should!

When you talk about the different alloys and TI nails what is your source for the information on this or is it more an opinion? What I kind of find ironic is the total pro USA glass only people still have houses filled with Chinese products. Now they do have more regulation on some items but think about your glassware and plates. Are they safe because they are made in China? I wish there were more USA made products in general but they are tougher and tougher to find. Peoples houses, for the most part, would be nearly bare without imported goods. Just something I was thinking about the other day.

The dp-mini (it's in the middle) prototype is complete! I think this one looks good, the only thing I've asked Jane to change is the mouthpiece. It should attach to the can higher up, like on the fc-mini.

Give the left one a sherlock style mouth piece like the original 710, and you have a winner. Just keep it thick and with that same ringed tip. Two biggest complaints I've seen for the 710 was the thin blown out bottom and the male joint up top, this one addresses both those issues.

Not feeling the joint on the middle one, plus it looks like something Stevens guys could consistently mess up. Keep it simple.

This piece is already in production, under the name "Rattle Can". I posted a water test back on page 750 of this thread.

A lot of people are interested in a pump piece with a bent neck style mouthpiece, so the next one will have that. The next pump piece was being called the dp-twist, and if you want to take at look, you can find sketches of it starting on page 51 of the custom glass ideas thread.

You will find the dp-twist (which will be called the Coil Can going forward) shares the body of the fc-201, and that it's even more anticipated than the Rattle Can piece. Also, there's already been extensive discussion about the joint placement of these pieces, which may be of interest to you.

Received My Straight Stack Hitman clone from Kathy0577. Looks exactly like the pictures on DHgate but doesn't function nearly as well as Hitman's on their IG page. It could be just as good with a couple minor tweaks but who knows if they even care. Still gives a nice clean diffused hit, just not as good as It could be.

Here is a water test of the Straight Stack

NimbusVapor got the coloured ball rig with a different perc. I can't remember anyone here with a clear one. The coloured ones seem not to be available anymore, maybe steven didn't produce them himself, only the clear ones. That would also explain the different percs...
any one have a ball perc? mine will be arriving at my house in bout an 1.5 hours. Got it from a CO blown store. I will post pics as soon as it gets to me.

I received word from Jane that the Rattle Can will have an 18mm female joint, not a 14mm as previously shown.

Also, if you're planning to buy from Steven, hold off for a day or two. Jane says it's the factory's 20 year celebration and there will be discounts for "FC friends" on or after the 15th.

Just ordered a Fc-187 v2 from Steven and it says that it will ship within 10 days, so does that mean he doesn't have them in stock? Also, I'm stoked does anyone have any advice or anything to say about this piece? I can't wait

I really love mine with my eNano. Full it to just above the perc and it purrs really nicely.

It took 2 weeks for them to ship my torus, so it's entirely possible. I received my 187 from the same order before the torus even shipped.
