BEST TEMP INSOMNIA RELATED TO (PTSD) MIGHTY VAPE.

Hi, I just purchased the Mighty Vaporizer by Storz & Bickel. I am new to vaping, and I have read all over the web about specific flashpoints, boiling points for specific Cannabinoids. I was hoping to get anybody's advice on what temps to start with. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you! :)

Crank it up hot.

Use it frequently, make a bunch of AVB. Make QWISO oil out of the AVB, that oil will be your insomnia cure from there on in :D

If you are scared of working with solvents, another approach you can use is to get a kief box, make a crude kief dry sift, put it in a convection oven at 120 centigrade for half an hour or so and then vape this bowl at 199-250c in the Mighty. :D

When exposed to heat and light, THCA (the most prominent active ingredient in almost all non-industrial cannabis strains) decarbs into THC before degrading into CBN.

For the purpose of getting high or seeking other kinds of medical relief for different conditions, THCA or THC may be more preferable. For the purpose of sleep, CBN is your friend! From one insomniac to another, this should give you a lot of satisfaction! :D

I like temperature stepping, by starting at the lowest setting where taste is discernible. Spend some time there til it starts to lose taste, then bump up a bit and start again. Once you get your technique down it's great, but some vapes are trickier than others.

And it took me awhile to learn this. being new you might not be able to discern the subtleties, so for the first week or two just play with it. Blow through a couple of loads on high, then start working your way downwards. I find that can be a fun way to explore. Having said that there really isn't a bad way to learn a new vape - don't drop it in the bathtub is probably the best advice I can suggest. I'm pretty vaped tho...

High temps on flowers will get you sleepy, try about 400f. The reason I suggest concentrates is because I find that bud will get you to sleep, but not necessarily keep you asleep for more than a couple hours (if you, like me suffer very bad, persistent chronic insomnia and struggle to stay asleep for long).

If your problem is just getting to sleep, high temps on bud will help, vape the bud until completely spent to ensure you get some CBN going on.

If the problem turns out to be staying asleep, come back to one of the concentrate options above :)

You wanna use water when working at temps much beyond 180c (not sure about conversion), you can't combust with the Mighty even at max temp, I have never come close so don't be afraid to jack the temp right up and degrade those actives to get what you need :)

You certainly can use shatter my friend :)

Just put it inside the fold of a concentrate pad (as close to the middle of the pad as possible so oil doesn't ooze out of the pad and gunk up the heater when the shatter melts) and put the concentrate pad into the Mighty :) You'll wanna hit it at around 395f at least, if not hotter. It tastes fantastic, you're in for a treat!
 
Thanks 21!!! When you say pad, do you mean the liquid pad that came with the vape, or something else? Sorry, I am a rookie!! LOL. :hmm:

How much abv would be needed for a long lasting return? I don't go through a lot of of herb so I feel like I would need to save years worth for this to be worth doing, lol.

If anything, shorten the wash. ABV is ground right up and has been agitated, you aren't gonna need to encourage the good stuff to come out too much at this stage, or the plant material either... ;)

91% is ok, I would prefer use of 100% (I have absolutely no idea why you Americans can't seem to find 100%, but it seems to be almost universal there that ISO is watered down somewhat!)

The key is you need to ensure that you purge the ISO right out. It is not good to heat and inhale iso! Because this is being made with AVB, I encourage purging until there are ABSOLUTELY NO BUBBLES! No exceptions. This will also facilitate decarb and give some of that handy CBN for sleepy times :)
 
Now the damn thing isn't helping me sleep. It is stimulating me more than sedating me. Back to combustion I go...... :bang:

I have problem sleeping as well. And combusting works better before sleeping for me, until now. So I vape most of the day and smoke hashisch before bedtime. I´m still not totally satisfied with that, I had three months last year where I didn´t smoke and just vaped. But dead mom / final exams / and back to "normal".

But now the exams are over I´m interested in quitting combusting v2. I still smoke 1-2-3-4 times daily, mostly before bedtime... It is mostly a sleep issue with smoking, IMO. Some times I just get the craving for smoke = light stress or moderate nico+joint craving... Mostly I can postpone it and I´d love to stop smoking completely. But its a struggle for most people, and for many it takes more than one try.


I got the Lotus vaporizer some days ago, its good with hashisch, heats up the material more than the Mighty and other vaporizers. It can combust, but most people don´t! I´m very happy with the higher heating temperature, and the effect of hashisch. If you can get hold of decent priced hashisch, I would defo recommend you buying it.

It works heavier on me than any other vaporizer I´ve tried... its a bit closer to combusting hashisch (which is the norm in my country and where I come from). But without the toxicity of tobacco nor burning and the effect and flavour can compete with the big players!

The torch lighter annoys me a bit tho, it´s quite noisy (sound of a crackhead), but other than that its up with my favorites: Volcano / Mighty / Solo, and its the cheapest one and seem quite durable and it looks great!


Vaping works much stronger on me, when I shuffle vaporizer and material. I get the full spectrum of the THC, I guess. I also feel that I build up tolerance for for the machine and/or material. So I couldn´t live with only one vaporizer. And it can be a very expensive hobby (and reminds me of being a kid in toy store).

I love the Mighty, but that took some time. 7-8-9 months before I saw how good it can perform. The included mouthpiece is small, it takes technique to get real huge hits. And they can be harsh if the temp is too high depending on material etc.

But the first day I got a water adapter for the Mighty, I finished 3 small (less than half) bowls on max temp and nearly went to sleep around 4 o ´clock which is unusual. But by getting much more vapour than I was used to and at higher temperature worked quite aggressively. With water I can easily max out the temp and enjoy almost unlimited amounts of vapour without coughing or any irritation.

I don´t even feel like I need the water, just the glasspiece, a bong or something similar. A glasspiece without the water will also cool the vapour down and let you have much bigger hits... for me it´s also important that I see the vapour amounts, helping me feel full. I have been insatiable with vaping in periods and it helps me seeing the huge clouds.

This can probably crank up your tolerance. But it works and can be heavy. I also put a little finely ground hash on top or in between my skunk, works heavier, taste great and lets you have more vapour and for a longer time. And without that burnt popcorn taste in the end. Great combo...

The Mighty sum up:

1. Higher temps, max it out, get out as much of the material as possible. Especially being a smoker, with high tolerance, wanting to sleep.

2. Water adapter, to suck up bigger amounts, without sore throat and coughing.

3. Use it with hashisch or concentrates, if its accessible in your area and the price is right. Use the Mighty´s concentrate pad. Cut one in half, and sandwich the material in between the pad, to amplify the heat (?) and to keep the material forced spread out, hash will melt together and work less efficiently. This also making the cleaning of the chamber and the cooling unit much easier.

4. Keep your Mighty clean, at least enough for air to flow. Check inside cooling unit regularly!

5. Save ABV for making edibles, these can knock you out and are quite easy to make. ABV to butter or something similar > baking > eating!


You also have to think about:

1. Caffeine: some are hypersensitive towards caffeine, I avoid it 6 hours before bedtime. Tea can also be a stimulant.

2. Activity: going to sleep, being tired, physically and mentally. Work yourself harder if its possible, physical training, long walks etc.

3. Mental state / thought patterns: going to bed at ease, not going to bed with a lot negative thoughts. In periods before my last exam I cut off tv/movies/computer/games 1-2-3 hours before bedtime. Enjoying thc and music and thoughts only instead. That way you get confronted with your thoughts before going to bed, thinking your day and situation over. Also tv/movies is escapism, making you focus away from your own life and thoughts... Its healthy to have some time to dwell on what important in your life. And especially before you go to your bedroom, trying to sleep, rolling over, thinking...

4. Rhythmn / routine / bed times / clock work / maybe even in weekends / to adjust your biological clock:/


And I don´t think its easy going from smoke to vapour, especially with insomnia. And it could take more than one try. So hang in there, maybe cutting down on smoking as much as you can ok... step one:)

Then start making a plastic bottle bong, with tube/whip from a vapourstore. So you can see how much you get out of the Mighty, and how effective it can be. Huge cooled lungs at high temp! Boom!

Also if there is any cheap hash around, for the combo, or hash/concentrate alone with a double pad.

And it shouldnt be all or nothing, it is a different thing. But worth quitting, defo, or atleast cutting down...

Halfway is also halfway victory, and your lungs and throat will thank you ;)

The cheap way around would be stop all thc intake for a month, then the Mighty would knock you out 100%

But there should be some middleground, try postponing smoking, wait till bedtime, that will lower your tolerance. And it will hit you so much harder, I can really feel the vape+smoke combo before bedtime, and works much more powerful than smoking or vaping alone.

But it comes down to tolerance. Vaping only will lower it, for most people.

And thc aids sleeping, but its not like prescribtion/hardstuff... but maybe the right combination of thc /cbn etc and at the right temp and with the right tool, it must be out there, should be outthere :)



And remember to save your ABV and the oily material in the cooling unit...

Its great being cheap and poor some times, you can use the leftovers from the Mighty and it can be both effective and tasty.

You can also remove crystals from your skunk and make hash out of it... that way you can lower your tolerance in day hours vaping green ... and get the stronger crystals in the evening, kinda double win:)

P.S. I already get big vape clouds with the vape, and still nothing sedating about it.

do you put the liquid pad in the chamber over the herb? i find that this helps. that + a little dab of concentrate or cooling unit reclaim does it for me.
