D-cycler just landed.
First impression after a quick water test is that it's surprisingly draggy.
Not bad, but definitely worse than my pillar cycler...
The holes/slits are tiny - thin cuts at the corner of the perc - giving tiny holes.
I normally like the thin cuts as it tends to give smaller bubbles, but there needs to be enough of em to ensure there isn't drag...
@blankrider
IMO the pillar cycler is a really nice little rig, it just needs a slight tweak to the return funnel to stop splash back with a harder draw.
Edit #3:
And the mouthpiece needs some slight tweaking too IMO.
I'm not the biggest fan of small closed mouthpieces, I'd rather see it opened up (the little ring collects water and makes it really hard to get the last few drops out), and it needs to come out another 1-2cm away from the inlet IMO.
I just fill my pillar cycler exactly like I do the mini pillar - fill up the chamber below the pillars, but no water in the dry chamber.
Edit:
Someone mentioned that the showerhead should be higher up - mine has maybe 5mm of space between the top of the showerhead and the bottom of the pillars.
I can't see much room for it to move, or if it would help all that much...
(Only thing I could think of for scale
- the gap is approx 1/2 of the height of a small oil slick ball lid
)
I'd rather use the pillar cycler than the mini pillar
Another edit:
After the first dab, the d-cycler definitely was less noticeably draggy during the hit vs a water test.
Feels like an effort to get the water going, but then it smooths out a bit once everything is recycling.
