Just got my SR-74 delivered! Taking it apart for the initial sanitary wash and I noticed there's two screens in the mouthpiece. Did an extra one get in there somehow or is this a change? (If the holes don't line up, it's damned difficult to pull air through them)

Hey guys. Havent posted on here in a little over a year and a half as everythings been great w. my persei. Just started having a very weird problem today though. Im using the SS shorty at 3.7 with an AW IMR18350 battery and 2.4 cart.
When i push the button with a cart attached ( tried on my double top and single ) the light flickers and shuts off while the cart proceeds to get extremely hot (too hot to touch in an under 3 second button push + once button is pushed i hear concentrate sizzling) and the taste of my concentrate has completely shifted ( burnt and metallic taste? ). Batteries are fully charged as i just took them off the charger after i woke up and this problem immediately appeared.. This is also a brand 2.4 new cart. going on about 1.7 grams through it as of now. no clogs or leaks so far. Any ideas on whats wrong so i can get back to my vaping?
EDIT: Im still getting hits.. hash hits.. off what wax is left in the cart (just weighed it .45 left). Its just the taste is sort of off-putting as im worrying its something inside the cart burning off at a higher temp. than what the vape is normally at as either my head/cart or even batteries are malfunctioning..

could be many factors, first being that there might be something thats in the oil thats not suppose to be there.
Does the unit get hot?
Also side note the new Okeanos manual is up let me know what you guys think.
@215z unfortunately dont have a multimeter. at least i dont believe i do. ill check though.

By unit gets hot do you mean the actual persei or the cart? the cart gets too hot to be touched pretty quickly and the bottom cap which holds the battery in does begin to warm up. i thought it could have been the battery so i switched it twice but same problem.

Remove the batteries and make sure the spring is not collapsed, also make sure the battery wraps are not torn or have any defects what so ever. Does the unit get hot when there is no cartridge attached?
Seems like there is a short somewhere.

most likely its the cart thats causing it, do you have another cart?
@THC SCIENTIFIC no other carts this was actually the last of a 5 pack (1st died from letting friend try it out. lesson learned). Carts the only thing i didnt get to check yet since i have 2 tops & 2 batteries so iguess that must be it.
Do you guys replace carts that short since thats not user error? I dont think i can send it back or anything since its been "used".. I was planning on ordering a ce4 cart tomorrow though so if a 5.0 or 2.4 regular cart could be thrown in the shipment that'd be cool.. if not ill just order it while i order the ce4 cart. Also is their anyway to order a single red or single green drip tip ? i only see the 6 pack on w9tech which i don't really need. rubber mouthpiece seems to cause me to clog the cart more often.

I do apologize but carts are not warrantied at all. I would suggest the Hercules SR74 if you want to buy a cart that will last years.

currently the tips come in a pack.
As for the sr74, it will vaporize more oil then the cartridge, but its going to waste your oil. You just get bigger hits.

How tall is the sr74 compared to a normal cart? any pictures? i like stealth and with the sr74 ill have to change from the single battery tube to the larger ss tube so just wondering how much taller..

DOWN WITH THE MAN I SAY!! Take both the screens out and don't inhale like a vacuum and you'll be much better off. If you tend to overload and pull too hard, you are definitely going to pull oil into the screen and clog it.
Especially if you use an AAF closed with a nibbler but this is another lesson.
can you really call that a waste?
a single TI coil (dont waste your time with the SS coils) needs like .2-.3 to buffer. On top of that, you can definitely easily fit another half gram, more if you want. For more runny oils, don't add more than like .2 at a time, or add an additional buffered TI coil as well and add up to .4.
The more you load, the more you're going to need to do cool off pulls in order to avoid dumping your remaining oil
my sr71 is my daily driver, and i probably go through a little bit more than .1 on a day of puffing maybe 2-3 times every few hours.
the hammer is not for the SR74, it is a standalone ceramic heat unit for hot knifing / vaping / lighting bowls

So what's up with folks who keep saying the Hercules is "less efficient"? What device are they comparing it to? I go through more oil with the Herc than before, but I'm getting more medicated more often. I'm pretty certain I'm getting more from my oil than I would from a micro skillet. NONE of my oil burns or leaks, so if it isn't all going in my lungs, where is it going?

Could someone please advise how well this works as a dry content vaporizer? I'm assuming the hercules is what I will need, and could you please advise if this has 510 threading to work with an SVD mod?

The Hercules works ok with herbs, but its main function is oil, the Bender is better, but still you have to learn to pulse the button. None of the herbal options we have are temp controlled. It is more user controlled.
