i might never smoke again.

review coming later today. ilove this thing.

Well folks. I just had to run a few errands. And took this little guy with me. I got to the bank and tried it for the first time. There is just about no learning curve here. I put th ebattery in and looked into the unit, there is an LED that you can see through the small hole where your mouth goes. This light ensures your battry is making full contact and that the unit is vaping. less than a second later you can see vapor. This thing only took 2-4 seconds to start up, its incredible. (the iolite takes a couple minutes i think?) I instantly put my mouth to the box (it comes with 2 mouthpieces. One is 2.5-3 inches long and the other one is about 3/4 of an inch long.) I used it natively and put my mouth to the box itself, and inhaled. It had a great taste and the vapor was not hot at all. The box did get warm where my mouth was. It wasnt hot, but warm. Ill defintily be using a mouthpiece next time though.

This was my first vape experience. i gotpretty baked off of not even one trench. I was very please and surprised with this device. I would and will recommend this to anyone.

any quesions dont hesitate to ask

So I just soaked my small tube in a little cup of iso alcohol to get rid of the resin, and it came out looking different... There is like a white coating on the inside of the tube. Did I ruin it?

that same thing happened to me when I soaked a tube for 24+ hours. That white stuff was flaking easily off of the tube, so I tossed it. Since then, I ordered more tubes, and when I wash them in ISO I rinse them just long enough to get everything clean, then I rinse them in water. This method has worked fine for me so far.

I would toss the tube and get a new one, they are pretty inexpensive at blisssville.

ISO is corrosive to plastics and rubbers. being that the the stem is plastic, it was corroded by the iso. When i clen my stem i dip a cotton swab in iso and slide it into the tube untill clean. then rinse it in water. You probably shouldn't soak them in the iso, simply wash and rinse to discourage corroding.

got it about a week ago, used it a few times and I love it.

my only concern is that when I first started using it I messed up and combusted, quite a lot (I can't seem to taste vapor well yet, even with tongue tricks)

so now it tastes like popcorn, even when not vaporizing. any suggested way to get the smell out? or will it eventually with repeated non-combustion?

just tried some sanyo eneloop batteries I got at costco right out of the package super fast heat up of the LB mass vapor , way better performance than the energizers and the stock MFLB batts will update on the eneloops after more use and charges
That's good to know, I'm looking for a little better battery performance!
How many did you get and for how much $? I may have to take a trip over to costco. And someone the other day here was asking where to buy Eneloops, I think, so now they know!

It may depend on the location but the Costco near stopped carrying the Eneloop but they stock the "pre-charged" Duracells.

reece,
I got a a charger 4 AA and 2 AAA for $17 the also had packs of just batteries 6 AA 4 AAA for $16
this was at the Abbotsford B.C. costco , costco.ca website has them in different packs then were at the store and the USA site Costco.com didn't list any eneloop batts . here is a link to the Sanyo site for USA retailers and hmm costco is still listed there

For some reason I'm still getting incredibly hot hits. Have I just been spoiled by my friends Da Buddha and Vapor Genie or am I doing something wrong? It's not quite as hot as smoking out of a pipe but definitely hotter than any other vape I have used. Like I said before, it hits my chest pretty hard and I get to the point where I almost wanna cough. It gets me pretty vaked so in that sense I really like it but I just wish the hits weren't so hot. It seems like I'm just about the only person having this problem so it leads me to think I'm doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Are you using a stem? Just the short stem or a long stem? Using the longer stems can make you cough if you take it in too fast.
It could be that your LB is just running hot, I suppose. But for now let's assume it's not.

How many seconds after inserting the battery do you start inhaling? Try starting sooner. The breathing in is the method of getting the right temperature, so by breathing in a bit harder and starting sooner, less heat should reach the herb.

I used mine yesterday and got a great hit. I had somewhat the opposite problem - mine runs slightly cooler so I learned to wait a little longer before starting an inhale. I also learned that I can take a first hit and get very little vapor especially on slightly weak batteries, but if I leave the battery in, in between hits and take a 2nd hit very quickly after exhaling the first hit, then I can get a nice 2nd hit.

Also, what batteries are you using? Surely after a 1st or 2nd hit the batteries should produce much less heat... Maybe you could just run the battery for 30 seconds or so without any herb in the box to weaken the output of the battery, then try it...

Just some ideas...

You got a great deal, BcBud420! I just checked the CostCo links from Sanyo.com and they do not carry the Sanyo batteries apparently even though they have the CostCo link on their site. Either it's something they did before and no longer do, or maybe they're just starting and the CostCo site is behind the Sanyo site. But probably the CostCo site is correct - they no longer have them. Could be that some local CostCos might have them, still, though...

Can you tell me exactly what it says on your CostCo Eneloop batteries? How much mAh? And what the charger is called if it has a name or model number? Thanks in advance.

I'm using the Maha charger and various batteries but none of them hold their charge for very long. I get like 2 hits off of a battery and then they're too weak. And if the batteries sit for more than one day they need to be topped off before I can use them! I'd like a battery that would a) hold a usable charge at least for a few days; and b) will give me at least 4 hits before being too weak to produce a good hit.

Are you other people getting the same type performance I describe above? only 2 good hits off a battery?

I have no problems with the batts. One thing I learned from using e-cigs is that the initial charge needs to be a good solid one. Or at least that seems to help. Ive used the standard batts and some duracells that are rated at 2650. Both brands seem to be good for around 4-5 minutes of total inhale time. Which for me at least means each batt is good for at least 1 trench, easily. The duracells seem to cook the herb more even. I would like to play around with more veriables to find the perfect match.

However, there are a fair number of subtleties associated with powering the Box -- it is the case that the batteries power the Box in a difficult to emulate manner. The basic demand load is about 0.75 volts with a current draw of about 15 amps. At about 12 watts, this is -- by a huge margin -- the lowest power consumption and most energy efficient commercial/practical vaporizer on the planet!
I continue to be amazed at the level of engineering and effort put into the design and construction of your products.

It sounds like your upcoming power supply will be truly unique and innovative. Currently, I would expect a power supply with this high current to be a heavy, desktop power unit costing $100s. Getting this down to a small affordable unit is remarkable. Who knows, with so many devices powered by batteries, there probably will be other uses/users for your power supply/adapter besides the LB.

I have a question about the batteries:
The little round paper piece that sits on the top of the battery - is it necessary? What does it do?
Mine keep coming off and I don't know if I should buy hole-protectors for them, or just leave them bare?

BcBud420, I can't find a deal even close to what you got on those Eneloops, anywhere on the net. I did find 4 AA Eneloops for $10 at Thomas Dist which seems like a pretty good deal... but I'm guessing the shipping price is going to effectively kill that deal...

Yeah, I've tried just about everything, both stems, native, I've tried shorter hits I've tried starting to inhale before I put the battery in, while I was putting it in, a second or two after. I've tried varying the speed from super light inhales to inhales as if I were hitting a bong and I'm still not getting the desired results. Could it just be that I'm used to the Genie and Da Buddha and this just hits a bit hotter than both of them?

even with the long stem the vapor travels a shorter distance than the genie; it doesn't get much time to cool.

Bananas,
Hey Moe , the paper cover at the positive end of the battery needs to be there , it is to keep that end from being both a negative and positive , I had to use a dab of super glue on some of my batteries to make it stay put . As for the Eneloop batts did you try to contact a Costco store near you to see if they carry them ??

I removed the paper cover at the positive end of my batteries, I didn't know what they were for. My box seems to be working fine though, what are the upsides of keeping the paper cover around the nipple?

I've had my launch box for a little over two weeks, and I must say it is an amazing device. I've gotten a few people interested in buying one for themselves already. The only problem I'm having is with the screen - it doesn't seal completely, so occasionally a small piece of plant matter gets sucked in and through the stem during a hit. Is there any easy way to fix this?

Chainsawdomy,
the upside is the battery won't short out on you as with the paper cap removed the positive end is now positive and negative .

All I can say is wow !!! ordered my MFLB last week and it arrived yesterday . Considering I live in Canada that was less than a week to get here. Tested it out and all I can say is wow! This is a very cool device. Forget about being discreet this is just a really really good device . I have a powered vape at home , and i love it , but this device , well this is lust !! .

For having the thing in my paws for 1.5 days , very very cool. Thanks for making such a cool device !!

thanks again for such a great product. This thing will save me all kinds of dough!. Quick session before hanging out with my buds at the pub. Lot less brews in my future .

Thanks again !

PS I am very very happy that this is my first post on this forum ..

Hi,

In regards to the paper ring on the positive end of the battery, it is our opinion that it does not much matter. We leave them on only for cosmetic reasons and remove them if they ever come loose or get in the way.

Also, people should note that as of Jan 1 2010, we have been shipping Eneloop batteries exclusively as bundled with the Box. The battery maker claims 2000 mAh on the label, but your mileage may vary.

Chainsawdomy (and others) who are reporting that the screen is permitting materials to pass into the draw channel, our recommendation is to use a flat toothpick to push the screen back into the groove provided for it. If necessary, a broken off part of a toothpick can be used as a wedge to hold the screen in place. If these approaches do not work, it is recommended that you contact us privately by email so that we can diagnose a little more closely and figure out some working option for you.

In_Rainbows: please contact us via email for further assistance/diagnosis.

Thanks for the info on the battery end thingie, Magic-Flight. Glad I don't have to worry about those little papers on the end of the battery. I too tried gluing them but they kept coming off. Someone said paper hole protectors to protect the holes from tearing in 3-ring notebook paper will work well, but I'd just as soon not have them on there at all since they're not necessary.

Eneloop rechargeables are probably the best you can buy for the money! They are praised highly in the rechargeable battery community. I havn't received my MFLB yet, but I will say the Eneloops are solid performers. Good choice !
