we are talking about the standard 'screen' right?

not the mod that allows you to use small amounts, because that one should be bent

i dont use that mod though, so

ataxian, my requirement is a portable that doesent feel like Im shooting a blistering hot steam gun down my throat. The PNP dry was the HARSHEST thing I have ever tried in my life, DRY. It hurt my throat and gave me horrible coughing fits any time I used it dry over level 1. In water its a completely different story but it was 10x times worse than combustion at anything from 2 and above thats for damn sure.

Before yall tell me I have a sensitive throat I like using my enano at 7.5 DRY and I LOVED my solo at level 7 DRY as well.

since I did this, I'm in no need for screens anymore, better draw too.
cost is 5$ for 100 screens.
Just roll them up and bend it at the end, stick this in the vapor path and voila.
As you can see, the only thing is that it makes your oven getting dirty a bit faster and
yes, it's in need of a good cleaning, I know.
I clean the screens a few times and when they are getting too dirty, I just take a new one.
Sorry for the bad pics, but now you can get the idea

no problems, I'm from Belgium so the moment it crossed the border the warranty was voided :)
Plus, it doesn't leave any marks and doesn't do any damage so ...

Been doing hours of research and I have finally decided to go with the pax. It was between this and the new da Vinci...but I feel like pax has proven itself a little better. When was the last time there was an updated model for the pax?

Ah, that could be the culprit then. I remember reading that a slight bend would give better draw resistance. Will try straightening it, hopefully that sorts it.

When I put my screen in it goes down in one corner then i push it down to 'lock' and it bends slightly

Oh man, I can barely wait! My first pax will be here tomorrow, cant wait to go on a bike ride with this thing!

llamaman001,
I'm from Scotland , ordered my pax by ploom from (yellow dog company) on us eBay , it came quick and worked fine for 1 week and from the videos I watched and what was in the box it looked real to me
but I took it to Amsterdam with me and it lasted 2 days I've sent it back now and hoping for a refund

It wouldn't switch on , then I would dock it to charge and I would get 1 bowl from it and battery would die I'd then put it back on charge and after few seconds it would flash green if I repeated this the pax would wrk but after a few days it wouldn't power up at all , I'm posting here incase anyone else purchases from this company on USA eBay , I sent the guy a few msgs and he replied once then 2 weeks later still no reply so iv had to escalate it through ebay to try and get a refund , I'm going to stick with my volcano for now but would really like another pax (if I get my money back) can someone recommend an authorised dealer who ships to uk , thanks for any replies

search for companies who ship things for you from the states, they ask a little bit more and they'll order it and ship it to you. One thing to remember is that when you do this, you voided the waranty and there's no return possible, I didn't mind so I'm not going to bitch about it when it dies, make sure you're prepared to do the same in the near/far future.

I love this thing...
However, I did by it from yellowdogcompany off ebay. The thought process was whether or not I wanted to purchase a warranty (the difference in cost on ebay vs. ploom).
At any rate, the box looks like the one posted previously, the nut is hex, the serial number starts with a B and the finish looks fine.
Everything was going along swell for about a week til last night. It worked twice (just two pulls each time). I kept it in my car and the outside temps were in the 40s. I went out to have a little more and the light didn't come on. I piddled with it but nothing. So I had to switch to combustion.....
Today I got back to the house and put it on the charger, no light.
I disassembled and cleaned thoroughly and re-lubricated. Still nothing. The temp switch works fine and I was careful not to get alcohol on it.
I've contacted the ebay seller because I am within the 14day return, but it looks like a 15% restocking fee.....
I see lots of issues with the blinking light, etc. but haven't seen one with the light 'never' coming on. I almost took it apart but I don't have a hex key that small.
My charger works fine. I verified its putting out 9V with a voltmeter.

Is it possible that the motion sensor got stuck and so it thinks it stays in standby?
I shook and rolled the thing a lot....no help.

Could the cold have done something? From 'medium' setting to cold quicker than normal.

One last bit of info. After I used it I put it inside a tea bin inside my car (to keep the smell down).
Could this have caused an issue? I don't think it was still hot when I put it in there but I wasn't really paying attention. I was going back inside for my t-giving food.... ;-)

Thanks for any help!

Love my PAX, really glad I had the option to grab 2 of them like I did. I really enjoy running it on HIGH. High is still less harsh for me than my PNP on level 1 haha, that thing is a killer. Very satisfied I dont have to carry around a WT with me now.

iiaii, sounds to me like you should contact pax, and if they don't do anything, get the refund, eat the fee, and buy a replacement direct from Ploom

So Im able to do 5 total loads before the batt dies. I did 2 at varying temps and then 3 at high temp all at around maybe 5-10 min a piece. I made a little screen mod and Im getting very even ABV and really nice clouds on settings 2 and 3. Im in love with this little thing. Im very happy to have a back up on the way as well. I can see myself taking this on many adventures and cant wait to take it up and down the beach and out on walks/bike rides. Its a lot heavier than I expected too, definitely love the feel of it and I put my "dark wood" skin on it and they are properly aligned to cover the entire unit so its looking fairly sleek.

I plan on cleaning my pax every 2-4 sessions MAX so I dont get any problems and I am NOT using the mouthpiece lube.

I just cant for the life on me get the screen to stay flat! Any tips?

We're here to fuck shit up.
The screen is not supposed to sit flat. There should be a curve to the screen so that there is an air pocket directly above the vapor path tube.

If my pax had lasted even a few months I'd have been recommending the eBay seller but it lasted less than 10 days , and he didnt reply in 2 weeks, from reviews and videos it looked 100% genuine , I'm just wondering if this seller has managed to buy some reconditioned units from pax , as it wasent playing like all yours on this thread from the beginning I used it on medium and hot settings and didn't drop it or abuse it , only cleaned it once , thanks for the advice on buying a new pax , I'm tryin to find a friend or relative who lives in the USA to order direct from ploom for me , I've already ordered glass attachment for the pax so hopefully I get my refund

Hey Celtic, looks like I'm in a similar situation with yellowdogcompany.....
However, I believe it to be a true a Pax, but yes maybe they are reconditioned or 2nd tier quality control.
I'm pretty confident because of this video
http://www.ploom.com/news/fake-Pax-comparison/

I sent yellow dog an email but nothing so far. I'd be within the 14 days...
I also sent Ploom an email so hopefully they can help me.
Does anyone know if they will fix it for a fee since I didn't buy from them and so I don't have the warranty?

Yeah, tried it flat and it just wouldn't stay in. Also, it was super restrictive. No brainer really, when it's blocking the vapour passage. I am not a smart man.

Got a bend in it now and it hits like a dream.

It's supposed to be a little restrictive to limit the speed of your hit, this aids vapor production

But if it's working well, that's good, mine sits flat and it hits like a dream
