Hey just a thought to the man behind the curtain (moderators)

I'm not saying this to be critical, but I've noticed some or the sub-forums tend to kind of overlap in their conversation type and content. For example, this discussion board and the lounge seem to kind of follow the same kind of low key banter.

Wouldn't it make sense to combine the two? I think there would be content and increased traffic if things were centralized just a bit.

Of course you may have a very good and logical reason for having the format that is being followed.

I only mention this as a new member and have to admit that the site can be a little overwhelming...and not in a bad way. There's just so much to take in.

Ha, I was hoping for the opposite! There's some material I'd like to see split out from the plugin and portable forums. Searching through the mega-threads is time consuming when each vape gets just one thread. That leaves all the spillage for the vape discussion forum.

I agree technical discussions should be as defined as possible, but for the general ones such as the Community, Lounge, and even at times the Vaporization Discussion boards (the general, bullshitting ones), it seems that there are some times gaps between the latest posts or posts that could technically be followed on either.

Honestly, in the state I'm in sometimes when I am checking in, it doesn't occur to me to scroll far enough down see and click the discussion group. Body of an ox, memory like a chipmunk.

I spent 10 years closely following a particular forum and the sub-forum that got the most use was general one where people at least attempted to be polite and respectful to one another. It was supposed to be on-topic, but often was not. Some people bitched about the lack of on-topic discussion, but what we had was much more interesting just the way it was.

The off-topic forum was where political and religious argument was allowed and the only limits to duech-baggery were either physical or liable threats (or sometimes both).

Most of us didn't have the cajones to last on the off-topic forum for any prolonged period of time, so a lot of deep thinking got done on the general fourm. Some of it was even on topic.

The site went zombie a few years ago and finally died about 6 months ago.

Oh the time I wasted on that site:doh:

I personally find the threads to be well categorised and sign-posted. The only improvement that could be made in my eyes would be the introduction of a dedicated area on the forum for current discount codes and special offers, just to streamline the searching process and to help FC'ers avoid missing out on some of the great offers that are often found here. :2c: :peace:

You could start a general "Sales & Deals" thread for now.. Right now would probably be a good time to start it, w/ all the upcoming sales.

Thanks for the links guys - very much appreciated! I first noticed the announcements thread yesterday and thought it was a great idea. I hadn't really noticed the retailer discussion and discount thread if I'm honest.

When looking for store discounts I have tended to go to the Supporting Retailers thread. I've also picked up equipment - specific discounts from various other areas - but these are sometimes easy to miss, especially in the more popular threads. To me, it would make sense to create a Discounts & Deals sub-forum in say the General Vaporization Forum so that any offers can be more easily found at a first glance. You could then have a number of threads relating to say store-wide discounts, manufacturer discounts, equipment specific discounts, mass-drops etc, etc. I particularly thought this would be useful in terms of avoiding repetition and keeping threads on-topic when the Pinnacle water tool was on offer. I noticed the code being repeated again and again in the Solo thread, and the same thing happening in other threads given that this tool fits lots of vaporizers........................ Well, that's just my :2c:.... others would disagree I'm sure.

:peace: :)

I recommend checking out some of the features I detailed in this guide that I wrote up recently. Using the forum that way, the separation between sections is only a concern when posting new threads, and doesn't get in the way of keeping up with the forum.
