Of course. Just clean it.
I can't speak from experience on this model, but ALL vapes have excess heat to deal with, and it depends on the size of the unit and the materials used as to how hot it gets. Around 400 F is considered high heat by many, and it's normal for part of the housing to get hot. I wouldn't immediately assume your unit is defective.
I mostly wanted to make sure that I could return the device after cleaning it if I used some good herbs in it first! Although I can still only hold the device without discomfort in the upper 1/4 of its length.
Wow !!. I gotta tell ya, I am shocked at how many more hits I was able to pull from, what looked like, totally spent ABV.

I wasn't sure if there was one on the pinnical sit that would fit to save on shipping since I was ordering from them anyway. Said screw it and just got the right piece anyway.
@lwien 's load is a strange bird. 0.025g a day is such a TINY fraction of the full oven. I wouldn't be surprised if it behaves entirely differently than, say, a half full oven. I don't even know if it really needs to be "packed" if it is sandwiched between the bottom of the bowl and the oil can. Save a second or two and don't bother compressing to see how it performs.
With such a tiny amount (anyone else try this? it is TINY and barely just enough to cover the bottom of the bowl.) the performance is no doubt different. First thing that comes to mind, is just about the entire load is directly exposed to the glass surface area. With a larger load, you'd have stuff "inside" the puck, but this load is too thin to really have an "inside".
Well... dumping out the ABV and reloading it, is kinda stirring it.
I did note that when I was first experimenting, I was compressing the heck out of the product, and stirring did seem to help. But I think that was because I was packing too hard.

The oil can does quite a lot of things, including being a "paper weight" and a heat source.

I've decided to take one for the team and ordered one. Shipping was meant to be between 10 and 20 days but after confirming my order with amazon estimated delivery date is Nov. 15 to Dec. 5... (no I don't live in Patagonia...) so I guess someone else will get it before me and will let us know how well (or not) it fits.
it definitely doesn't last 3 hours but rather 1 hour'ish at 410 mostly. I've charged it full several times and it's still last that "long". I had some cosmetic issues but that one is really annoying...
