The Dr Dabber Pen

Chimp - a shower cap uses minimal amounts of water for diffusion ensuring more flavor. Something like a fritted disc would be mass diffusion which will usually reduce flavor a bit.
Just out of curiosity would that Shower Cap provide adequate diffusion, cooling of the vapour? I just checked out the video and holy mother of all ... is that thing cool and idks but looks to be a very useful tool for a number of pieces/applications.:mmmm:
Anyway, my morning session was aaahhh ..., nice. Hits as hard as one can handle and the water filtration really helps.

I think the intermittent clearing is OK, but perhaps instead I might try gently lifting the pen up and down to let air in as well, or loosen the fit between the tubing and pen (which is pretty easy thx to the sloped conical shape of the mp), or the tubing and the joint. I do feel I'm overdriving the heater.

EDIT: Then again, checking out JKA's post showing a video with comparable pen and 14mm jointed bong, perhaps I'm overthinking this and should just go for it, drop the pen (with short tubing) into my joint and hit it while pulsing (trying a few on-off cycles).

The showercap is nice for vapor since it uses very little water and has minimal diffusion. It won't be as smooth of a hit but you get a much more flavorful.

If you're sticking the pen into your piece I would recommend a longer piece of tubing so you can keep the pen upright to prevent it from melting down and out!

Really? that much tubing? I'd estimate at least 9" for the tubing to have a somewhat comfortable U curve. Not that it would ever be as comfortable as just hitting it w/o a U-curve. That would, of course, increase my restriction? Gotta admit, I don't like the sound of this - would find this pretty disappointing and inelegant. (Ain't no Swagger Shower Cap). So, I don't see myself doing this.

Unless it was melting down and out. I read somewhere in fc that the melting down isn't an issue as the stuff is so sticky that it sticks to the mass of the sticky oil. I certainly haven't noticed any signs of melting.

The way it's raining today I might have more opportunity to try s'more.

The piece I haven't isn't nearly that much, then again the glass piece I've been using has a joint that sticks out some. I would just try and keep the upside down time as a minimum. It's more of a precaution than anything.

Ok, thanks ogcook. I think the clearing during the "off" phase of the pulsing helps with this then as the pen returns to upright. I keep my pen upright as much as possible in order to lessen the oil gooping onto the sides of the cup (as Vitolo and others have recommended), so I'll just incorporate all of this into my uprightness.

Really Dr. Dabber? I had stuff to do today... Very impressed so far and I've only had a few hits. Super solid look and feel, packaging was nice, and the pen seems pretty well put together, though I have no basis for comparison. First oil pen, complete concentrate newb here but I'm loving this. Vapor on-demand and my first dab is only about halfway done after several hits :) Just need to work on my button technique, flavor wasn't the greatest but I'm sure that's user error. Thanks DD - shipped friday received monday - great service and great product thus far! Back to more testing (I think I know what's next :science:).

Since this is your first oil pen, all don't have a flavor on par with a quality dab. I've used cheap pens up to the Cera, all of them heat the oil some before you get it and it rests so it's slightly more 'reclaim' like. The Dr. D does a great job on flavor with oils though, I can only imagine it will get better with the Ti coils.

I beg to differ og! Can't speak for this company cart, but 2 other similar carts give off nail quality or better, because theres no over/under heat like a nail, imo. Love my nail, but also the taste from these pens is what brings many to try these newer type pens. Ripping some og moonrock currently(which tastes like heaven), and i wouldn't waste it in a pen if it even remotely tasted foul.

@mlo4sho---revisit your technique with the battery, are you using quality concentrates(i've seen reclaim kill a cart)? The biggest selling point of these type pens, to me, has been taste. 1st thing people notice when they try my setup is how awesome the taste is.

Please note that i am not a slob with my equipment or medicine(not judging, just making a point). Cleaning and maintenence(however small) will also make the world of difference. I have seen some peeps coils I wouldn't vape from if you paid me. Not saying ogcook or mlo4sho are guilty of this.

Hmm, I would say more of a 'different' flavor profile than a nail hit. Never said it was bad, maybe should have said that he should expect it to be different. I've been getting better about cleaning! So far my Dr. D has been fairly spotless.

We're both in FL, we need to meet up and share some of that moonrock!

These are all good points guys. Thanks for the tips and advice. I think my concentrates not being very good and me holding the button down too much had a large impact on the flavor. My technique is much better now, but I will be careful to only load quality goods from now on. Unfortunately, these are impossible for me to come by so I'm stuck with making my own. I'll have to wait a little bit before I can dab on. But wow, the DD works great and when you add glass... it's a whole 'nother dimension :)

I can't say what, but I was just given the privilege to get a sneak peek of something coming from Dr D and guys, it's gonna be big. I would say were about 4 weeks or so away but I promise - it's fucking legit!

Any hints? Still trying to decide between this and a Dabbler, maybe this new surprise might sway my opinion.

I am due for a cleaning. Taste really does get affected. I find myself poking around and playing with the load and wick more than I wanted to but I guess it can't be helped. Is the globe any easier or does it have a wick in the bottom too?
Messing around with it just as much as the cheaper pens but more wax is going through with better hits and more full vaporization. Are there cartomizers that might work well with this battery? I would try the prefilled but I have heard they are not so great in CA and made with trim. I think I have seen prefilled gentleman's carts but I wonder if they would work and who has done the filling.

Any hints? Still trying to decide between this and a Dabbler, maybe this new surprise might sway my opinion.

I am getting the feeling the atomizer is better on the dabber but I could be talking out of my ass. Plus I think it is shorter and that is a big plus in my book. I guess no one has tried both yet

Imagine it wouldn't be long, you could message him on here. He checks fairly often.
Could also be waiting for the Ti coils to arrive before sending it!
Yes, message him and he'll give you the tracking info. As he did for me straightaway.
Entirely possible he's waiting for the Ti coils.
