whenever i grind my nug really fine when i inhale like half my bud gets stuck on the top of the evolution haha i havent gotten 1 huge cloud yet so upsetting! wish i still had my mflbs :(

I've had trouble with this too, it pulls out of the bowl and you can't get it to vape properly. Then when you go to pull the cap off, it falls out, making a mess. My fix may make some of you cringe, but I took the extra spring that came with my AtmosRaw and inserted it into the cap, and gave it a twist. It is now keeping my load from moving out of the heat chamber, and keeping the air path from getting caked over and blocked up with loose herb. I am getting much more satisfying vapor now, no combustion at all, and the ABV looks pretty evenly toasted. I don't know what kind of spring they are using, but it works for me. So far I have found that about 1/2 bowl seems to vape best for me.

That's actually supposed to happen, the designer intends that the column 'fluff up' in the hot air stream. This is why stirring is not needed like in MFLB. They are definitely different animals, skills learned on one don't transfer well to the other. Fundamental differences like heat control are reversed.

"Huge clouds" are not guaranteed with this unit. Such claims would be suspect. This is a small portable vape, in most guys opinions it does a great job. You must have read their reports here? It's quite possible to get good results if you use good technique. Others are doing it right now. If the results aren't there, I suggest it's the technique that needs changing or perhaps it's time to trade it in on a MFLB if you don't want to try. I'll be glad to give you some advice to that end, but you have to want to do it.

I don't doubt it a bit. I think your technique or hardware needs work, the system is sound. It works well for others. Your failure to get better results needs to be addressed in an orderly manner, dismissed or ignored.

Your call. Please let me know if you'd like my help/advice, I've offered enough times I think?

If the black one is an aw it is still the regular non high-drain technology. But aw batteries (even the normal ones) are very good and should be an improvement over a trustfire in my experience.

If you have the opportunity to get an orange aw imr battery you can be sure that the evo is working at the full 100% of it's abilities...

Ended up giving in to my vape acquisition syndrome and ordered a TV Evo 6v kit, a HV DART, and a Smooth-Flow. Does the Smooth-flow make much of a difference with the Evo for those that have one? And how many bowls do the batteries work for on the 6v Evo? I believe I read the LV Evo was 3-5 bowls? So I would imagine this one having a 2-3 bowl range?

bazzles,
I agree with OF, you gotta throw the MFLB tech out the window. I think Joe? detailed it well a few pages back, and the "draw/warmup" tech is very similar to the T1. I have only sat down for 4-5 sesh's and had it down in 2. But first things first, this black battery from TV, what is it, what are the #'s on it? The trustfire 18650 just isn't enough i have found.
Second, extend your warm-up, give it a slight couple very slow pulls...light tasty vapor... Then give it 10-15 secs more warm-up, then give'er hell. Start there, and adjust accordingly. It is the same tech that's been posted a few times here, and many times there.

OF, take a break, you deserve it, ill take a whack at it...

I agree. I don't have one, but it's my understanding the black unit is the same series TV uses in 17670 (same capacity, slightly smaller and slightly longer)? That battery does just fine in the TV supply, I'd expect the same here. The proof is in lighting the element however???

Anyway, it's AW branded and black so that much alone doesn't spell low performance.

For sure the Tenergy units have higher internal resistance. They may have higher capacity, but can't supply large enough currents for our new found power hungry friend. It's probably a good call for driving a 2.4 Ohm cart but fades when the chips are down. The IMR has a serious advantage here.

Thanks for the offer, but it's kinda like they teach in first aid. Once I start on a problem, I don't like to drop it short of resolution (too many folks in life bail...). I've asked several times for a 'light up the heater with the bowl empty test'. If I get a 'get lost' instead or don't get that answer back so I can take the next step it's all yours?

Thanks again for the kind offer, it's appreciated but not needed yet?

I am thinking about getting this. I thought I read somewhere that this is compatible with water pipes. What size mm downstem will it hook up to? I am looking for a portable but it would also be a nice bonus if I could use this with my water pipe.

thanks. I was skimming through the pages by could not find it. I am looking for a good piece to use in the car during intermission at the opera or ballet. Those seats kill my back. I don't like my MFLB so this might be a good alternative.

I think Tim said it fits both 14 and 18 mm.

Yes I recall it as well. I only have a 14 but it looks good to me for 18 as well. The have an adapter for the other vapes that would also work, but they incorporated it into this new model.

I don't do opera or ballet, but from what I've seen on TV this could be an excellent distraction there..... IMO it's in it's element as a few hit 'top up'. It will do the job from the ground up, but it might take some guys a second bowl. I figure 5 or so healthy hits at maybe 45 seconds each on average per bowl. A guy might want a couple of those, or even them all? Well within capabilities for this guy. I suggest serious consideration.

The only times I found I wasn't getting good vapor from the Evo has been either when the bulk of my load pulled up to the top of the cap, or when I don't let it fully heat up, and start pulling air through too soon. Other than that, I am getting really good results just about every time I fire it up. Adding the spring to the cap has made it even better, now that my herb stays in the heat chamber. I know it was supposed to be a "stir" design, but I found more often than not, it just caked over the air path, and made it more difficult to get a decent hit. I have not needed to stir a bowl yet, to get it to vape thoroughly. It doesn't feel like I am struggling with getting good vapor hits it any more.

I think i might need two or three bowls through it. I find I need about 2-3 bowls through my Solo to get me feeling okay for the next two hours. my tolerance is pretty high. Smoking all day every day for the last 8 years will do that to you though.

Jam,

I hear what you're saying. And if it works for you, great, go for it. It does not work that way for me. Having the load loose inside is a design point I'm told, it's why the 'four turn trap' is at the top. Loose loads vape fine for me.

I think folks should try both ideas. but there is no 'heat chamber' per se, at least as I understand it. The entire bowl is intended to come to temperature progressively. How or where that happens exactly I'm not sure is anywhere near as important as the basic 'three step technique' is, which is where new guys fall down I think. As you point out, get that part right and good hit become the norm and the quest for the perfect one can be started.

After a certain point, "it's all good".

Thanks.

If I want to vaporize keif I have to get this accessory right:

http://thermovape.com/collections/c...n-universal-concentrate-vaporizer-adapter-kit

and it works with the Evolution?

It works best with oils and wax or generally any concentrate that will liquify. I have heard that some have used it for bubble hash and kief but not it's best use and will need more frequent cleaning. The Revolution and Evolution are interchangeable, just get the same voltage.

Hey, you don't by chance have access to bubble hash do you? We have it here, and I can assure you a layer of herb with a layer of bubble over it and a cap of more herb makes this a whole new game. Seriously strong hits, and more of 'em. It might easily do the job in one bowl?

Early on in my testing i did some 'eyes closed' reloads to see how possible this is....it works fine with a little practice if you wait about two minutes with the heat shield off for it to cool. i used a premeasured charge in a small plastic vial who's mouth matches the bowl. I held the vial and bowl aligned and tapped the vial a couple of times. Worked without peeking. A second or even third bowl should not be an issue if you have the time. It is a vape you can use without looking at all. You could do it in total darkness. Only is whistles a bit when you hit it hard.....

Okay I ordered. I will be able to get it before I go to the next opera dinner. I can always go out to my car and load more. Since I am medical I don't worry to much about vaporizing in my own car. I just sit in the passengers side so they can't accuse me of trying to drive...

Great news, I'm sure you'll be happy. Sounds like an excellent match to me. I like the passenger seat idea. Work on your Brit accent so you can look the blighter in the face and say 'Blimey, who's pinched the bloody wheel?'. Cops have a great sense of humor, you know.......

I plan on using this one next time I run from the cops in my car... which happens so often. ;) When they come to the window I will say "Sorry my ex-wife ran off with a cop and I thought you were bringing her back to me."
