Arizer Solo

So I'm trying to find a size of silicone tubing that tightly fits over the stem. I've narrowed it down to 3/8 ID or 1/2 ID. Which one did you guys think will work better?

I had asked about the tubing also, and someone suggested I get the one from 7th Floor. It fits almost perfectly (just a little tight) over the stems. This is the one...pretty sure. So, 1/2" might be not as tight, or not fit at all, but haven't tried it myself.

EDIT, I have been able to open the unit, and I noticed something surprising.

There is glue all over the inside of the metal casing. This was the reason my unit was stuck. I had to put a really large amount of pressure and it finally gave. I looked inside and its residue of a light blue glue. this is a M103 unit, M107 has no glue. nor does another M104 that I used. those 2 opened very easily.

the M103 also doesnt stink. Im still up for suggestions on how to fix this dead M103 that I have

Thank you

wow wth is that blue stuff? yuck

beats me, perhaps it was something arizer tried out for a short run. It did not contribute to any stink though.

also another difference in this was the red battery plug was wrapped in a foam tape or shrink wrap. you can see residue from it in the 3rd picture. m107 does not have the tape/wrap

holy smokes , lol... actually my unit isnt mesed up... for some reason when I didnt use it for 2+ weeks, the battery died in it. I left it with an almost dead battery then waited 2+ weeks. I swapped the batteries with a new one and it worked again.

---

in mods, I am thinking of ways to improve airflow, while still retaining clouds. Thats the biggest gripe most people I show the solo too. they hate how hard it is to draw. I mean, its not too bad for me, I draw a moderate pace and try not to rush it... I just want it to be perfect thats all.

and a long lasting solution to keeping the stems nice and tight. The ridge on the ring is wearing out in just 3-4 weeks, tension is much less than new.

yea i was searching for a way to improve the airflow too. after all the crap i did to my solo, i finally figured out a way to fix my airflow by modding the stem.

ilovebOObs,

Almost looks like residue from battery acid to me. I experienced something similar on one of my motorcycles before. I noticed a similar residue all over my bike one day and the battery was leaking acid out of the vent tube all over my swingarm, frame, etc. Etched all the metals.

At one point I was playing around with my original 2 hole stems, and I turned it into 1 big-hole.

I plopped a screen in, and after loading it up I found the draw to be a little bit less restricted than my 4 hole stems.

So if you're up for a bit of stem modding, you could try that (or bOObs' bent bowl idea)

Also, just a random tidbit, but I just recently cut a little carb-hole in my tubing I use to mate my aqua vape to my solo stem.
I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, now I can actually clear it after each hit.

How'd you make that hole (2 holes > 1 hole)?

I'd be willing to do that - I think the holes are stupid, since I use a screen.

Basically, I put my stem in a vice, and used a drill on its lowest speed with a dremmel piece to try to widen up the holes.
It ended up snapping a piece out of the screen part of the bowl, so I just sorta kept buffing the edges of it until I had a big hole with about a 1mm ring of glass to hold the screen in place.

There's probably a better way to do it, but I was just messing around, and didn't really care if I destroyed the stem.
Also, I can't say this enough, I'd you do any kind of cutting/drilling etc, on a stem, wear eye protection.
That chip that came out of the bowl flew straight up and hit my safety glasses...

Anyone know what the temperature #'s are for the the Solo, m106, or m107?

For instance
#2 = 300F
#3 = 310F
etc..?

I saw this posted a while ago, but I am pretty sure it was for m105 or older...

I want to know what #2 is, so I can hopefully duplicate results with my new Supreme v2. :luv:

Interesting, it might just be since I determined my problem as a dead battery. BUT, I dont see any residue anywhere on the electronics, battery compartment or on the battery itself.

I have a freaking great high thanks to my new friend. It finally came and I am soooooo haaaapyyyyyy..... I am NOT happy with PUFFITUP as they sent me an M105 even if I asked them for an M107 but it seems to work great at 4-5 for me so maybe I will forgive them. But next order will be from somewhere else (I also had problems with them when ordering)! Soooo, the clouds are great, the taste is great, the stems fit fine, not loose, not tight but the airflow is much more constricted than I expected. It seems like I am fighting with the stem. Maybe I should pack lighter (but then many particles fall in the bowl). For the time I am using a small piece of cotton until I get some screens so I don't get any herb in my mouth, so that's ok for now!
Anyway! GREAT HI!!! :science:

Oh!!! And the MFLB is already packed and ready for sale!

I think the stem draw is a biggie, glass without some method to secure is a problem too. But I can get beyond these. Just darned hard to get a good draw. May just be my bad lungs. Oh and of course the need to use a screen tells me there should just be one huge hole, not (4/3/2) little holes that let plant through and literally into my lungs. That new wood with
Brass or whatever looks like a winner to me

I find the draw to be stiff too, esp when trying to hook it up to a water device. Just got the aquavape today, it's a stiff draw, and the chamber takes a while to fill up, but I like it. Might work better on my box vape. My AV seems kindof big, compared to the one I saw in the video, maybe I just found a different model/maker than what I saw in the vid. Neat idea though.

The stiff draw is pissing me off too. I hope I got the disk from tintest in my mailbox today...and that it helps. Other than that - the ilovebOObs stem mod, or the new Solo stem PlanetVape are making - are the only thing that would probably help.

there are 2 versions of the aquavape a 5" and a 7" model. i have the 5" one. hitting the aquavape with my regular stem made my head hurt, hahahah
i was able to fully enjoy the aquavape once i did the stem mod.

You saw PlanetVapes working on stem design soon to be released eh ? Sure looks like draw and vapor production shall be enhanced.

Its about halfway down the page.
(sorry, no idea how to link directly to posts)

EDIT:
Here's the actual post:
here is a hard to explain simplified drawing of one prototype:
draw is drastically improved and vapor production is increased, but the bowl caches faster (in less hits)
The green lines are "micro channels" flowing air down the side of the stem, getting heated on its way to enter under the V notches around the bottom edge of the bowl. There are several iterations being tested right now.

So happy with my new Solo!
It almost feels as if I'm cheating on my MFLB:(
I still think I'll use it for ultra stealth and super quick hits but the Solo is almost as "stealthy" except for the insane clouds! Can't believe how amazing vapes are nowadays, especially being portable too...Just so awesome!

I guess if I have to nitpick it would be the stiff draw, as others have said.
I am thinking of going with one of Ed's new wood stems....I assume that has to help a bit, huh?

@sessnet...what is the new PV stem?
I'll be curious to see how you like the disk.

What a great new toy and very solidly built!
It was actually smaller than I thought and has good weight to it.
You can tell right when you pick it up that it's great quality!

Thanks to all for the great info here...you guys definitely helped me make it easier to decide.
So nice to be "Solo'ed"

I am keeping my MFLB as some day it will be in the Smithsonian  :mflb:
