The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

I think, I still have to dial in the technique . Also, I´ve never tried it with a torch.

Btw., I also have that sizzeling, hissing sound when heating with the wand, like other guys reported. I´ve never heard anything like that in Vapcaps. It seems to come from the ball-chamber.
I think it's about time for these wand issues to be taken a little more seriously even if it turns out to be a minor issue. I would hate for something to go wrong and affect the reputation of this device

When these are generally available I'll just buy more so that I can have one cooling off while I'm using another one. I think I could justify 3 pretty easily: a half bowl wpa, a full bowl wpa, and something on the native stem with a wood sleeve of course. Unlike dynavaps those extra caps bring some utility now.
I like this idea!

I'm 99% sure after disassembling my wand that the issue was due to the natural oils on my fingers getting cooked on the cap. It happened when I had it set to 700+F and I've long since dropped to the 460-500F range letting that run to timeout for the initial heat cycle. I've not had any issues since.

Still waiting for Tempest to be delivered...

Found some orings that fit WPA, and could serve as heatshield and grip for lifting.
Anyone know where are WPA like that available with 18mm joint only? I don't like much this 10/14/18mm thing...

Mine had a sizzle during the first heat up after messing with the click disk and coil. But went away after a burn off so likely due to finger oils

Same. I had sizzling on my first heat up but I'm pretty sure it's just the remnants of water/oils being cooked off. The balls in the cap don't have any real air access other than the bottom screen, so it would take quite a long time for it to dry naturally. After cleaning for the first time there is no doubt traces of water still in there on the first heat up.

Finally got mine and I’m a bit confused/overwhelmed on setting this thing up and the adapter in the wand.

Gonna go back a few pages to catch up on helpful info. Pumped to get it cleaned and try it out

Edit: got it all working and first impressions are I’m blown away. First vape of this caliber for me and I am awestruck. Still letting the stem dry but quick cleaned and dried the cap and bowl, ran it through a VonG and dry piece and my lord I’m so baked.

Does anybody know at what temperatures the two discs click?

Happy vaping!
I haven't got click discs but the manual says :

1st click 170c/320f | 2nd click 210c/390f

Just received my tempest. I see temperature listed for wand settings but I had took mine apart and changed it to flower mode. Does anyone know what the equivalent is for the different modes? And to be pointed in the direction of links to instructional vids would be sweet. Thanks in advance
this thread is full of the instructional videos covering wand insertion, different use cases etc, best bet is to look through the thread

The only one I know of now, there used to be other places, but it seems they are switching to the 3in1 style. Located in Canada, but I believe they ship to the USA.

Actually looking at Ed’s site he has a glass 18mm wpa, his wood wpa adapters aren’t lined as far as I know.

So there another site with a 18mm.

This thing is so incredible. Gonna wait to give it all a thorough opinion but for now I’m already in love. Dialing it in was incredibly simple thanks to all the tips and info on this thread. Much appreciated to all

Some of the on-the-go carrying options I’m getting ready for tomorrow. (Posted above I suppose I don’t know how to format here on mobile and I’m high as tits from this. Running hash bowls was excellent.)

VonGest

Edit: that should be a link to a video, I still got about 4-5 good rips after that one. This thing rocks, in a piece or native. Stem has incredible cooling. Y’all have a good night much love

they aren't lined, the only 18 mm wood ones that are lined are like simrells stuff I thought

What was the reasoning for the redesign of the condenser, mouthpiece and airflow tube between the Revolve 2 and the Tempest?
Most customers didn't use the filter and it's not needed with the Tempest head.
The MP got a bearing because it was slightly scraping the Ti on the top of the CU as it was spinning.

Another change is to the helix tube itself. After all the options available to the Revolve, I'm wondering why the helix tube doesn't have the same option to change between the DTL and MTL airflow holes.

Got rid of the DRC because customers were closing it accidentally (mostly without knowing that the feature was there) and we have the airflow control on the cap now.

The Tempest helix tube itself still retains the mark on the top of the mouthpiece to show where the "default" position is, but because the tube has equally spaced/sized holes on the bottom rather than the two different holes in the Revolve tube, this mark doesn't actually mean anything from what I can tell.

I left it there to differentiate the tubes without disassembling if you're not using the glass sleeve.

Just wondering how many people with the Tempest, refresh the bowl each time you heat the Tempest, or do you reheat the same herb multiple times?
I never liked to re-heat a bowl with butane vapes. One bowl = one heat.
I haven't yet mastered the tempest technique.

That's usually the case for me too - the exception was occasionally using a low temp cap with a helix tip for example

I never heat more than once. Even when doing low temp extractions. Tempest never leaves much worth fussing about. Full extraction in my experience.

For me it depends what you want in the momment.
i reheat if i like a full flavor session, then I reheat it on low temp, getting a "stepping temp" (is it correct to say that?)
Or for "hard" hash, which needs a conduction support. (would be reheat or set the wand up to 400C till time out)
Or in case i set the tempest on full chamber (i use to set it in half bowl all the time) and i want good hits but not one heat extraction.

In general i like to let it cool down (as i did with dynavap) but depends on what i´m doing in the momment.
Indeed, the tempest is a very versatile butane vape

for my part, I say that I haven't yet found the ideal technique because I often find that the top of the bowl (near the beads) is well toasted, even too much so, and the bottom is not always well roasted (it's still a little greasy).

Great to see another Austrian here, what region are you from?
I‘m from good old Vienna. And you?

This sizzeling is definitely coming from the ball chamber. It can’t be water residue, I‘ve heated it up so many times since cleaning.

I don’t find it problematic in any way, it reminds me a little bit of bonfire crackling or the stones in a sauna ;)

It can’t be fingergrease, cause I didn’t touch the top in while, I just screw it off on the reload.

Anyways, I‘m now getting very good results, without combusting or charring, but I had to push the class cup way up in the wand. I think it’s as far as it goes on the top. 1,5-2mm inwards from the red ring on the bottom.

It’s all cooked evenly now, no more black on top, brown on bottom.

I can’t see the VI that way, but the vaping results are amazing now!

Maybe my wand has the coil set a litte to high? Don’t know if that’s even possible ;)
