Just checked vaporpedia & they mention the temp being 200c used to bake off the odour.
But, I've got this nagging feeling I saw a member mention they did it at 160c and succeeded in eliminating the smell, and I always thought that was the benchmark temp to cook yo solo.

Can anyone chime in & confirm the theory of 160c or at least confirm the post i am thinking of??

cuz for the life of me I cant find it & seeing my solo doesnt stink, I aint reading the thread again to find out.
Done it 3 times already.

Dorkus, thats for baking the cap without the plug and that's exactly what I did to get rid of the smell on my second Solo (baked the cap only at 350f for 15 min., I do remember someone baking their cap at 400f and he reported the smell going away but it turned the black cap to a dark copper color). These guys seem to be baking the heater housing surrounding the heater cup which is what Soulhunter did at 200c and melted his housing to the point where he threw out his brand new Solo. Of course he did not take any pictures of the damage to share with us and I remember him being asked if his oven temperature was accurate. Soulhunter was very angry during those posts so it was sometimes hard to understand exactly what he was doing and frankly for a while I thought he baked his entire Solo at 200c before I realized he only baked his cap and heater housing.

Anyways, thanks Dorkus for your great posts, you always make me laugh.
Later Bud

350 for 15 min with no discoloration on bodies for silver and black units. I also cleaned the body and cap with iso prior to baking

also cleaned the bowl and whole unit with ISO while the metal parts were baking. eliminated smells on a ceramic and a SS unit here.

oldest m104 ceramic unit has no signs of melting around the bowl. I use mine on 7 all the time.

@papa woody- Praise jeebus, its good to know that the ol hard drive hasnt got a virus from all that porn.
(TRANSLATE= me glad brain still work good, sorta) thanks for the kind words too.

this smell issue sounds really fucked. Sorry for the users who got a stinky, but I'm very grateful mine went away with a couple of cycles.

Please be careful guys, be SUPER sure you know whats what before you bake yo solo.
Perhaps try the cap 1st (take the rubber cap off yeah?), then wipe with ISO.

Other than that, for the few bucks to send it back for a new one. Its worth it.

It cost me $23aud to send my failed solo to Arizer, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering I live at the ass-end of the earth.
if its really too much $$$ to send back, you can always ask arizer to help out. It dont hurt to ask, & from what I hear, maybe just maybe, you might be surprised.

@rufrothy- now thats some good info, cheers for that

.... screw up by Dutch customs. Even though it clearly says it's a warranty replacement on the accompanying documents our customs treated it as an item bought outside of the EU, resulting in a total of around 50US$ in added fees&taxes. Now I could just go and pay those fees and make my case with customs, prove it's actually a warranty replacement, and get my money back. But I'm a stubborn guy -or at least I was this afternoon- and a man of principles or so I'd like to think. So instead I insisted they took the package back to customs, have them do their job properly like they should have in the first place, and then deliver it to me without the bullshit fees. But, since you can't fight a rusty old system this isn't going to happen. The package just sits at the post office now, waiting for me to come pay the fees and pick it up, or it will be returned to sender after 30 days.
I'm going through a hassle with customs trying to get my money back at the moment. Not sure if I will get it. The trouble is that they do actually seem to charge VAT on a replacement, but not on a repair, even though I can prove it was free of charge. Which is ridiculous. A typical stitch up by 'the big man'. All new goods are taxed, regardless. Not sure how it is elsewhere in the EU- often pretty similar. It was a surprise to me- on my first reading of the regulations it seemed I was entitled not to have to pay.

It's 30 that I'd rather not lose, so I'm going to appeal on the grounds that Arizers documentation was not clear and that it wasn't a 'replacement' as such, just a replacement 'part'- ie. the heater- the installation of which with a glass tube and charger would constitute a repaired Arizer Solo Aromatherapy System. Almost any repair is going to require the replacement of some faulty part- it seems crazy if the only way to avoid being taxed on it is to have it 'installed' overseas. But the taxman can be crazy..... we will see.......

Had the exact same issue and ended up sending a letter and proof that it was a warrenty replacement and i got a letter back 4 weeks later from the customs office saying the fee's still stands and that was that. Really anoyed me that i had to spend another 30 in taxes when i feel i should not of.

Oh and WaTyler , good luck fella , will be waiting to see how it turns out for you .

Lefthook,

here for the chicks
Dorkus, did you pay for the shipping yourself? They paypaled me the shipping costs back straight away when I asked them for it.

Wat, that sucks. I think our import laws should be similar in this matter, but I'm no expert either. The thing is, this story is about my replacement replacement. My original replacement was intercepted by customs as well, but released free of costs within 48 hours. That thing actually went door to door from Canada to NL in just a week, including spending 36 hours in customs.

I would like to know with which one the actual mistake was made now. The guy I talked to from customs yesterday claims I should have been charged that first time as well, he basically called me a lair and said it is impossible that that one was inspected by customs as well without being charged on it.

The thing is, we bought our original unit here in the EU thus already payed our fair share of taxes (stop complaining Americans, it's 19,5% over here). Now if we payed taxes over something that turns out to be defective it's no more than fair that we aren't charged again just to get a working version to our door. Doesn't matter if a unit is replaced or fixed, we should not be charged twice for the same thing. If that is really how it works then I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to smuggling mate, I won't let them bastards take all of my hard earned my money.

I dropped my arizer onto granite tile from about 3-4 ft. :( Fell out of my hoodie pocket after bending down to pick up a piece of trash that i missed into the trash can. How fragile is this thing? The outer casing seems to scratch easily...well the paint at least. (not from dropping, had keys in same hand with my Solo and it scratched it a bit; wasn't even gripping it hard.

On another note, im getting the hang of this thing, at least for large vapor clouds. I'm still experimenting with the settings and effects. Only thing I'm confused about is my medication turns medium brown even in level 4! is that normal? When its on 5+, it gets dark brown.

The outside is something like a brushed aluminum, it can scratch with sharp objects such as keys (at least that's what I've found). At the same time, other than the glass, the unit feels kind of like a tank. I'm sure you shouldn't be throwing it off a building, but it feels pretty sturdy to me :)

The color of your ABV depends a lot on multiple factors including how tight you pack it, how finely you grind it, etc. I haven't been grinding, I was breaking things up by hand for the solo and a 4-5 would put mine at golden brown. I think I'm probably going to put a screen in the wands so I can grind finer to get more even baking. Regardless, I rarely if ever go above 5 on the solo and I prefer to keep it at 4. If I took a pull at a 7, I'd be getting huge clouds that translate into waste.

Thanks Glairige.

I like this vape because its helping get rid of all that tar from smoking MJ, but I gotta say...i miss that body high at night. Even my indica keeps me up at night. The high is so clear and energetic. I think i might have to smoke at night (1 hit)...and vape the rest of the day.

a few pages back I posted that I purchased a M103 Solo that turned out to be smelly. I returned the unit a few weeks ago very displeased with Arizer and the agent I had dealt with. I am happy to report that my opinion has changed.

Kevin from Arizer got everything taken care of for me and this morning my new M106 arrived with 2 new 4 hole stems to compensate for my return shipping charges. I am happy to report my new Solo runs great and has no smell issue.

I had also heard that the new SS versions run cooler but this was not my experience. My M106 runs very hot and I am producing clouds at 2 and producing nice thick tasty clouds at 3. 4 also produces a nice taste and huge clouds but 5 and higher the nice taste begins to diminish.

I love this vape now. Before, I thought I would sell my replacement unit but I'm glad I decided to try it out. Great taste, huge cloud..... This is more like what I was expecting the first time around. Glad Arizer seems to have worked out the bugs. I now feel I can recommend this unit to friends as a nice battery powered portable.

*Edit* Battery life also seems improved when compared to my M103. I vaped a full session and battery was still at charge level 7. Good Stuff!

Gotta say the difference between this M106 unit and my previous M103 is like night and day. I don't know why Arizer didn't just wait and make the original release with a product like this that the bugs had been worked out already. Might have saved them a lot of customers that they lost with the original unit with issues.

That's awesome that they're finally getting it right. I like a hotter bowl because it makes the Solo great for concentrates. I don't think my SS runs colder than my two ceramics, although I do think the battery life seems a little worse. I generally start at two if I'm alone, and three or even four if I'm trying to make it easy on new users to get a satisfying hit - Setting two was enough for me to begin with on all three Solos.

How's the flavor? Still getting off aromas either when in use, or just when it's warming up a foot away from you? My SS still stinks a bit sometimes.

I am very sensitive to smells which is why I was so upset with my first unit. This M106 has absolutely no smell. The taste and flavor is extremely pleasant and the flavor of the material is very prevalent. I am completely satisfied with this piece now.

The tight fit of the stems with the new unit is also a nice feature. I love that the stems stay in now if the unit is turned upside down.

Can someone that has a Solo manual handy tell me how to turn the sound back on. I seemed to have misplaced my manual and can't figure out how to turn my sound back on (Turned the sound off by accident because I'm too vaped :ko:).

Thanks Papa Woody. I thought it was something like that but don't like experimenting too much will my new stuff when I'm vaked. I have been known to break a thing or two in these times.

No problem Gonzo, if you need a quick reference, look at vaporpedia under "Solo" then "Usage". Thats where I go when I need one of those quick "I'm really stoned...how do I do that again?". I tend to keep the beeps off so they don't beep at one of those times I want stealth. Of course if I start coughing my lung tissues out of my mouth after taking a huge rip everybody kinda knows anyways.

My first unit I returned was a ceramic. I do believe the M105 and M106 are the same(I am not positive of this though).

Well, I just drank the kool-aide and pulled the trigger on the Solo from our good friends at puffitup. It's all your fault, Gonzo!

You will not regret..i'm so high right now...holy crap.

Mine doesn't smell, as in an odor. But when on, if I sniff the bowl, it smells like metal/solder heating up. Just inside..it doesnt 'emit' the odor.
