It would for a unregulated device, but the TM is regulated – we wouldn't even be able to set different temps if there wasn't a balancer that regulates the voltage.

Like i said i dont have the knowledge to say.... i will continue to keep an eye on it but next time once its close to 3,6V i will carry a brand new bat and if happens again i will replace straight away to recheck and confirm this behaviour, the thing is is not the 1st time i notice this...

And I'm not doubting your experiences btw, I'm just trying to find out.

The thing is that the TM is not only regulated (safetywise, but also voltagewise), but also temp regulated. I'm not sure how the temp sensing takes place, probably by checking the coils resistance (which will change according to its temperature), but it could also be some infrared sensing tech or whatever. Either way, once set temperature is reached, it will vibrate to indicate exactly that. So if a decrease in power (resulting in lower temps) would happen, we would know because of the lack of indication / buzz (haha).

It might be that some function in session mode prevents it from constantly buzzing when it's fighting with having to keep a set temp, that's why I was asking which mode you were using. But a faulty indication in on-demand mode? Seems unlikely.

At least that's what my logic dictates me to think. :-)

A little dremel on the edge of the ring was needed ... It no longer gets stuck in the o ring when removing the stem!

Thanks for the tip, I did the same with a rimless tophat screen and I'm getting the most even roasting now.:rockon:

I don't want to detract from the issue @karec ... If the device is at fault with the devices, I spent my hard earned money on it, so best believe I want to know.

But to throw my thoughts out there;

How strenuously were you walking? I'm thinking, prehapse an elevated heart rate, caused by the walk caused you to draw harder on the device then you normally would. Add this to the fact you like to vape at somewhat a low(er) temp... Could you have been overpowering the heater?

No worries... im comparing similar sessions, i do vape at lower temps but my use is the same the only difference is that i notice that below 3.6V i had different behaviour with the lack of power, resulting in no clouds produced from the start, if im overpowering the device when the bat is below 3.6V that i cannot answer you...

1st im talking without knowledge but when @TommyDee mentioned that "Li-ion will hold 4.2V at the start and quickly settle in the 3.7-3.6V range" and my last "normal session" the bat went from 3.7V to 3.6V before starting to "fail"made sense to me. I also understand @Siebter comments about regulated devices and how the TM works.
Maybe i should give some additional time after i start drawing, or i will try to increase 1 or 2 degrees to achieve similar results, after all is the last session before replacing with a new bat.

I don't know. But what I know is that it *would* be a performance problem and not normal behavior for a regulated device.

sounds disappointing. I hope it will be more optimistic and when the temperature drops, you can switch to another mode.

@Tweakz – As I said, it doesn't happen with my device. I think @Shit Snacks mentioned a decrease in power, but that resulted in a slower heat up, not temps being lower. Beside that I haven't seen many issues with the performance in this thread.

I also would not call mine an issue or definitive at all, just a mere feeling lol I'm not concerned!

So yes i noticed a little downside to the power from 2buzz down, the bat has around 3.5V according to the external charger.
I swap the batt with 1 buzz... more heat up time and power decrease
What you are seeing is the discharge curve. Li-ion will hold 4.2V at the start and quickly settle in the 3.7-3.6V range where it will linger and fall off quickly at the end of the charge. Having a high current draw really tanks the output voltage, raising the current draw which the cell cannot deliver. Hence, reduced performance.

The status buzz is only measuring resting voltage. This is much higher than voltage under load.

Regulated devices can only remain in regulation if there is enough power (watts) and sufficient voltage for the regulation circuit.

There are several possible explanations for what you guys experience, and even if counter-intuitive there are cases where even with proper regulation, the cell and DC/DC converter just can't cope with the demand.

It's a single cell device and the peak power figure I saw quoted looks much too high for the cells you are using. It was exactly the same with the Tubo where everybody was vaping at the stock max power (75W) and before the firmware was modified to handle the situation better.

But it's simple to test. Use a real 20A CDR cell, or even better use a 25A or 30A cell like the LG HB6 and see if the problem disappears or not. I'm betting it will. Your cell is surely sagging way too much and just can't sustain the load and it gets worse and worse when it discharges.

Interesting – I'm using the stock VTC6 or the VTC5A, those seem to be able to handle the power well.

@karec mentions using the TM at 6/10 though, so he's not at max power. But I agree that using a 20+A battery is obligatory for a single cell @75watts max.
