What "loose heater problem" is that? Searching this thread for "loose heater" back several months shows you're to only guy to mention this?????

Hi, OF

Actually, I may be responsible for the 'loose heater' concern. Back when I first got my Solo II I used a PV stem that seemed (was) slightly too large. It was a VERY snug fit and I used to twist the stem during a session. Not long after, I got an Error 5 or 7 (cannot remember). I ventured a guess that I had loosened the innards of my Solo II due to the tight stem. I cannot, of course, prove that to have been the case.

I was quickly rushed a new Solo II that has given me absolutely no problems whatsoever. And I only use the stock stems now.

@Cuthbert Sinclair : It's a fantastic vaporizer that I would buy again and again. Seriously.

Anyhow, just wanted to be accountable for the speculation I made.

All the best, everyone.

Thanks. These things start somewhere, usually. Hard to call that a "loose heater problem" though, and certainly no reason to be scared off Solo II. No defect in design to wait for Arizer to fix?

It was a 'non stock' stem (for which Arizer has no control) and didn't happen right away? Frankly, I don't see how you could break the heater loose given it's bigger than even the oversize stem......but please don't take that as a challenge? The 'bind' would be at the seal?

Thanks again for the post, I'll continue to hold the heater is plenty tightly mounted for typical use.

Regards to all

Hi,

haven't posted here in ages but it's that time again: I need a new vape.

I've had the Solo since late 2014 and have used it every day and it still works perfectly. I want a new one though as the chamber is looking pretty manky and I lost the rubber stopper and it's dented and scratched and the battery isn't what it once was and all that.

So maybe the Solo 2?? It's been out for a while now, so what's the verdict?

-Is it much different to the first one in terms of draw resistance/taste/clouds etc.?

-Is it as reliable as the seemingly immortal Solo 1? Any issues with the LCD display/heat/battery etc?

-Does it have any similarly priced competitors/ are there any other similar vapes you'd recommend?

Thanks!

Buy it at CREAMCITYVAPES and use code CELERITY and get it for an extra 20% off the already low price of $184. Brings it down to $147.99. I noticed that that code works with several different vaporizers on their site.

The Solo II is an awesome vaporizer. I purchased it for the amazing flavor, microdosing aspect, and accurate temperate measurement through the digital display. I've had quite some vapes in my life (solo 1, lsv, crafty, mighty, fury, herborizer). I must say the solo II is the most bang for your buck. The battery life is amazing and the flavor, performance, and extraction is just awesome for a portable vaporizer.

Now i must say that i'm quite surprised with trying to sell this vaporizer. I really have a rough time trying to sell it. It was the last vape i bought after a long no vaping period. I had a low tolerance and basically wanted to vape again. So i decided to purchase the solo 2 for my needs so i can use it as a portable/plug-in vape.

In addition I've also bought it just so i can couple it to a bubbler and take some good ol wet hits through water. I missed those times when i was still a hardcore everyday vape head. :science::lol:

So after buying the solo 2 and a mobius ion matrix bubbler guess what? I was so freakin high after hitting tha bubbler due to my low tolerance!!! :whoa:

So freakin high that... i don't know :ugh: I just can't take it anymore like before. It just seems i can't handle the high anymore like i used to. I just don't enjoy it anymore even after building my tolerance back up again.

It seems the good ol days have been done for me. So i decided to say goodbye to vaping...

Hence i don't feel like i need it anymore and i don't enjoy it anymore either... SO why continue?

Now i still need to get rid of this whole vape setup. It's laying around here brand new. :hmm:

Your call, of course. Not common I think, but understandable. Quitting vaping might be rare but if you don't revert to blazing a clear winner. Congratulations.

If you don't give it to someone who will welcome it and never stop thanking you (Christmas is coming.....), it should be easy to sell in the Classified Forum.

You might also consider sending it to our very own @Vitolo, he's sure to find it a good home with someone is severe need. And you can feel very good about what a great fellow you are for supporting that noble effort:

Well i actually live in europe so not sure about gifting it as well. I could use the money right now actually for other things. SO indeed i tried putting it up in the classifieds already without any luck. It's been laying around there for quite some months now. :ugh:

But just wanted to say how awesome the Arizer Solo II is though. I don't think it receives the attention that i should get.

Assuming that's a typo and not a Freudian slip, yes it's a great unit, but unfortunately that's kind of a secret for some reason?

I've been using the Solo II for a while now and really love it ( would buy it again ina heartbeat), probably the best overall that I have tried, left my FF2 in the dust and I only beat it with the Vapexhale, but that is understandable.

Anyway, for some occasions I would prefer something preferably smaller and without the "risk" / management of the glass stems. For instance for the beach. What portable would you recommend?

Thanks

Glad you're happy with your Solo II, it's an easy vape to like for sure. Super dependable and versitle for sure. Seems 'everyone' becomes a fan very quickly.

A couple suggestions come to mind for your consideration. First is it's 'cousin' ArGo. Much more compact. While it still uses the glass stem idea, it's much better protected. Otherwise performance is very similar.

Also you should consider the Fury 2 and it's new slightly bigger sibling EDGE. While they can both use glass stems, in basic mode they are very robust with a 'snap on' mouthpiece over a conventional heated metal bowl. Both can use 'dosing capsules' you preload and swap in for the next session. The capsules for each differ a bit, but can be interchanged, with the newer ones offered with EDGE having the edge for most folks? F2 has reasonable battery life (say four sessions), but EDGE has perhaps twice that (more in line with Solo II). HR (the maker) has legendary Customer Support. Like Solo they don't seem to need repair, but should the worst happen, it's comforting to know it's ready?

Both vapes are much smaller so heat build up in prolonged use can mean you have to be careful how you hold it.....a small compromise IMO.

Best wishes to all.

Another, cheaper option is an Ed’s tNt wooden stem. Unbreakable, and you still get to use the amazing battery life of the SoloII.

Just curious if Ed's wooden stems hit smoother /better than glass? I get they don't break as easy just wondering if it enhances experience......thanks!

Pretty subjective, IMO. But I'd have to say no. While some impart a bit of flavor at first, that's short lived once condensate condenses and seals the wood surface. They are harder to keep really clean, so that advantage is lost as well. You also have to crank the heat up 10 degrees or more to compensate for the higher heat loss up the SS (as opposed to glass), which again doesn't favor that issue.

Longer glass stems will be better performers here, and are very easy to clean (I put a funnel on mine with a short bit of tube and run it through the dishwasher. Ed's can foul so badly that you need a tool (snap ring pliers) to get the screen out for cleaning eventually if you want to do a complete job. Glass is easier to deal with than wood from that POV.

Ed's stems real strong suits are the unbreakable part and the beauty of the wood and craftsmanship. My 'bog wood' one was a live tree before Stonehenge or the Pyramids......which is kind of neat IMO.

A stem with a carb hole would be amazing for the solo 2.

My original air I used to pull the stem out at end of a hit and it gave a nice shot gun effect.

Actually PV used to sell them, part of the PVHES line. Including WT adapters. Not really popular (most found they didn't work as expected). Often the 'normal' version would be out of stock (sometimes for a month or more) while the 'carb' versions went unsold. Common ways of defeating the feature were toothpicks or bamboo skewer 'plugs', tape (often PTFE 'plumber's tape', my choice) and rubber bands. Perhaps someone has one 'kicking around' and you can work a deal. Like the whole 'high efficiency stem' idea, something that sounded good but didn't prove successful when tried in mass.

Perhaps PV still has some?

You can also cut your own hole anywhere you want with the diamond tipped burrs sold for Dremel tools. Working 'wet' (with water) keeps it cool and controls the glass dust (which is not good to breathe in).

And, of course you can still pull the stem? If that's what you prefer. Much 'better' than a smaller hole in the side........

So after couple of weeks of use I notice sometime stock stems are loose and wiggle after.inserting... Pulling /reinserting stem..... stem does not rattle.....anything to be concerned with?
