You're still gazing at it ?
I thought that by now ,you'll be past that !

Just joking !
Doesn't feel great to hold ?
Titanium is a very strange metal...Unique properties ,amongst other metals.
And it doesn't taste & neither feels "metallic" when you put it in your mouth /lips ,ain't that right ?

No shit it feels like more earth/ stone like than metal. Hard to put into words or pics, feels like a tube made of a very light gemstone material. You have to hold one in your hand to understand, has a very cool unexpectedly pleasant feel to it. Also a space age indestructibleness that I personally need in a stem as I am rough on things:nod:. Glad to see some of the all stars buying stardust sailor stems... a must for any capper, experienced or brand new.. buy one or two, you'll be happy like D.

I loving how fast and deep you got into this, you show impressive commitment and curiosity.

It's great makes me realise I'm not the only one a little obsessed with the VC concept.

@stardustsailor I seem to remember you shying away from a wood lathe only to be moving on to a metal one instead. Nice bit of kit you've looked at and a lot more versatile than your re-purposed drill press set up.

Yes ...Still it's a dream.
That re-purposed drill press set up is the only thing available ,right now...
It does the job ,but no way it compares with a metal lathe.

Lot's of things to create,if and when I 'll get one ...
;)

This is the stem member #4 (@Summer ) has ordered .
She wanted a 62 mm long stem for her OMNI.
So ,no mp on this one.
It has a 5 mm hammered ring towards the OMNI mp and a 10 mm ring at the tip end.
It also features a 2,8 mm Dia. carb hole ,located at 5mm offset from center (that would be 36 mm from mp end).
The band is "Rock" textured and anodised to turquoise / "carribean seawater" hue.

Cheers.

While this one has been ordered from member #5.
A standard 62mm stem ,with a standard diameter carb hole ( 2mm ) located above
the 2nd pair of x-ring grooves. It also features a "rock" textured band ,anodised to a bit greener hue
than #4 (Summer's) stem.It features a "concaved " style mp and two small plain rings towards the mp.
Awesome stem !

Oh my good gravy wow. Hey I thought you did no carb stems only?
If one wants a carb hole ,I can't deny to that.
Still ,I charge extra for making a carb hole, since it requires some time to make it .
It's not just drilling .it's also deburring the inside of the hole & making a "notch -finger recess " .
Plus I 've to disassemble my bench-drill .
Making a carbhole sucks time from my work.
and breaks my nerves from time to time ...
I very much dislike putting holes on my precious stems .
But if someone is willing to pay extra ,then it's fine by me.

Color vision test ...
( left click on the image, wait to load on other tab
and then right click ,click on "View Image"
)

The four pictured stems have all different hues ,going from teal blue (bottom stem)
to mint green (top stem ).
Pic quality is bad .
Still can you tell the hue difference or not ?

Your stuff is so beautiful you really need a camera that will do your work justice. The one in the classified image looks a lot better. Damn you create beautiful vapcaps!
Dear brother,I'm afraid that taking good pics out of anodised stems depends mainly on
the scenery (ambient light, incident & reflected light ,angle of camera ,etc) rather than the quality of the camera .Still, yes ,I do need a better camera ,whatsoever.

Cheers.

I 've wanted some time now to make some vids showing how I work with the titanium tubing ,
turning them into VC stems.
Well,I always start with tapering the mp end.
So ,here's the first vid :

That's how SDS titanium stems are being " born ".

BTW,why I haven't discovered the XL VC before?
I'm really fallin' in love with the XL stems.

Cheers.

It's not finished yet .
Have to polish the mp & tip ends.
Tried it with a non-anodised tip to see how it looks .
Does not "match" that much.
Stem looks like it once belonged to a pharaoh, while the tip was a gift from Flash Gordon .
:freak:
So,it needs a bit of polishing ,I think .
When ready is going to be for sale at the Classifieds section.
That is sometime tomorrow.

A natural finish ( non-anodised ) stem was ordered to me by a local FOAF.
A standard length (62 mm ) VC carbless titanium stem featuring a faded band
(a band without the distinct border grooves and with it's texture fading towards the ends of the band )
and a simple slightly inwards concaved ring towards the mp end .
Also ,towards the tip end ,there are five grooves .
I really like how those grooves look ,BTW .

62-FDBAND-HMR-00 + MP: Simple Concaved Ring + TIP : 5X Grooves

Cheers
