Thanks man, just tried it and didn't blow up, yay!

I just sold my OG Milaana to a good friend. He's splitting it with his roommate, so hopefully two combusters are converted with one vape ;). Sad to see her go though...onwards little OG Mila, onwards.
The VTC5 definitely feel hotter. My current unit is feeling as hot as my other, hotter unit. Where it was difficult on this unit to brown a 14mm in 1 hit, it is now quite easy if attempted.

(Unrelated to above)The random coldness I was experiencing is no longer an issue, and my unit is now as consistent as any. I think it just needed a little breaking in. This is my favorite unit so far now I think. I thought, upon first few uses, that i was disappointed with performance because I was spoiled with a hot heater, but now as everything is falling into place and coming together, I am thoroughly enjoying it. No complaints here anymore. None at all.
Well, it doesn't vape perfectly even 100%'of the time, but none of my units ever did ;)

Down to 2 units and think my backup is about to go to a friend. Spalted will be my one and only .... Until another model of RBT products is released, that is.

Edit: and oh yeah, I forgot I weighed out a 14mm basket, scale kept jumping between .02-.03, so .025 is a safe bet :)

What water pipes are people using? I got a honeycomb+tree perc bubbler from TAG (the one that I posted a few pages back) but am looking at this matrix diffuser peyote pillar thing I found on DHGate.

http://m.dhgate.com/product/advance...y-glass/218126546.html#s1-1-1;searl|604903305

I think the treeperc was creating too much drag for me to get a satisfying hit (due to airflow or lack thereof) but wondering how this one will go.

Edit:

Ended up w that. Will post updates whenever it arrives.

Modnote: Link to labeled counterfeit glass removed

@Ratchett I bet you could do a few tweaks and be able to use the Milaana with the protector on, you would just have to push a bit harder. I got a few ideas I can toss at you.

I found installing the button cover protector upside down works best. Then can just slide it up when in use. Makes a nice hand gripe that way. Thinking of drilling a hole and adding a wrist strap too mine.

question for the FC RBT community about flavor signature:

Does the Milaana have a woody signature and how much does it fade over time? If so, how long?

And for those with Mi's of multiple wood types, does the signature vary?

I'm pretty sensitive to "woody" tastes. I had to get rid of a wooden vapor whip box years ago because I couldn't stand it. Had no problems with the Milaana at all. Of course now that I think of it, maybe I'm not that sensitive since I happily used an MFLB for a couple of seasons. ;) There is no wood in the post vaporization path to affect the taste though so doubt it will be an issue for you but YMMV.

I've been puffin on a Mi since August and have an opinion already. Just asking folks their opinion.

So you would say the Mi is very, somewhat or not neutral? :p

My take is that there is no woody taste at all. It was a concern for me when I purchased knowing that the intake is through wood, but my fears never materialized. I'm sure there are other opinions...

if you put your mouth and gently suck on the empty F joint do you taste wood air?

My Millana offers the purest, most neutral flavour out of all the vapes I own:
Inhalater 05
Flowermate FM3 air
Various Dynavap VapCaps (my other love)
Grasshopper

There wasn't any taste of any nature that I could detect.
My wooden stem has more taste than the vape itself (and even this is very little, nice subtle walnut hint).

I don't taste wood on my unit either

It sounds like from your observation it does...

So do you think combustion in the unit on a daily basis may have cooked the wood beyond the heat that the rest of out units would usually see?

But I am no super taster either...
The ascent for instance is notorious in the thread for silicone tastes? while it tasted 'mechanical' I wasn't bothered by the taste.

The only foreign taste I've personally experienced with milaana is the taste of the metal heater when I was pushing batteries too far.

No because I have a 2nd unit that hasn't had a combustion incident that also has the same/similar notes imparted to it.

This came up because A. I was remarking how I don't want to get rid of my log vape as I enjoy it for really getting to know a strain intimately... and B. was wondering if the maple and other woods coming out impart a different flavor.

To be clear, I LIKE the taste (there's nothing "foreign" about it). It's fantastic, if it fades, I'll be upset. It adds a full bodied earthiness to those post terp hits that is just fantastic. Sounds like the wood stems are similar, so I can always go that route I guess. The Mi produces the best flavor hits I've ever had... but I would not describe it as neutral at all.

Again, I want to reiterate and emphasize that the flavor imparted isn't bad, it's GOOD. Great even. It's a pairing made in heaven like wine and cheese. Like good headphones have the low end amplified.

Pretty sure we're on the same page here, but just using different vocabulary. My Fireflys taste the best of all my vapes to me, but that may simply be that I prefer the taste of a steel pathway to glass or wood. So certainly some of the "signature" taste of the Milaana is due to wood and glass. As you said it's all good and we seem to be living at the dawn of a golden age in vaporizers.

Only on FC will you find vaporist that are so in tune with the subtle things. When @thekarmawhore made the 3D printed bodies I was honestly afraid the plastic would melt. However, the air gap between the wood and heater glass internally is a great insulator.

All RBT vaporizers go through an extended over voltage burn-off conditioning to ensure nothing harmful will come out in normal use. With that said, subtle woody accents can be detected and it seems logical that longer preheats and extended sessions will make it more apparent. I would also expect walnut units to be a bit more noticeable given how it smells as the drills cut into it.

It is good that wood is the only material who's smell can be normally detected. I agree with @WakeAndVape as well in that if you do an extended pre-heat on a fresh battery one can detect a slight metallic flavor. This is due to higher than normal heater chamber temperatures being reached. This is the primary reason for the 5 second max preheat.

This level of understanding and feedback is extremely valuable as with improved understanding comes improved designs.

Yea, I don't think woody taste is bad...my SBJ had a slight woody taste and still does in the right conditions
And I enjoy the taste

I just don't detect it with milaana.

But that's just my input

Edit: and when I say foreign that doesn't inheritly imply something negative it just something outside the desired target: the herb (unless you were mixing in wood shavings).

:drool: I may quit FC if they don't find a way, within the next ten minutes, to send smells through online forums. Some websites are just so primitive :lol:

My Milaana does not have a flavor that can be detected. It doesn't smell much of wood either. The adhesive smell went away faster than any unit I've had thru RBT, almost immediately. I'll try to tune in on the wood and see if I can taste some yummy fungi induced spaltedness.

This Milaana has the best flavor out of all of mine so far with the way the heater heats up. Really releases the terps gradually, allowing a full range without the lower terps getting destroyed by too rapid of a heat up.
I'm probably bullshitting with that explanation but it sounds logical as fuck to me!

How about a way to juggle a Vapcap in a RBT product? ($35 stem)
Should be easy actually... I am waiting for my Laana to come back from the states to test it. Some silicon tubing over the mouthpiece of the Vapcap should do the job. Maybe two layers of silicone tubing for that 18mm or use a reducer...

@Ratchett you have my VAS a glow!

So, all ya faithful RBT customers. @RBTMarketing and I have been discussing things we could do to say thanks for your support, faith and patience getting started.

The first is a no Brainer... A mailing list that will give you exclusive offers and first rights to future developments. In future projects we injecting fresh blood into the beta test teams to add focus talents. One crazy idea we had was to offer an FC crowd fund (if approved by FC) that would take a commitment of orders with a small deposit and based on the number sold perks and price drops would be offered. We also plan to do a Pimp your Milaana contest as well as a Custom Blown accessory contest to get things hopping on Instagram.

So what would you all want to see in a brand embassy or program. @Shit Snacks seems to think that money talks and talk is cheap but what amount of free stuff, cash or perks would get you motivated to rep RBT in a region of the US or the world? What contest would you like to see @VegNVape do next? What fun cool ideas do you all want to see implemented? That's the cool thing about building grass roots like this... We can just go where the RBT spirit takes us.

Well I'm off to answer emails and web forms and tend to a warranty return.

I like this ambassador idea and the direction rbt is headed, the growth of a company has to be organic and word of mouth is the most organic and sincere way to get people interested. You can make cool billboards but and commercials but that stuff has never sold me on any products, it was the spirit of the product and person that shines through. With so many choices in the world there is something for everyone and the internet connects us all to tiny businesses that we would have never known about.

I have said it before but I truly believe with mmj becoming legal in so many states the healthy alternative to smoking aka vaping will take off and is just starting to catch attentions after being around for over a decade. One edge the milaana has over other vapes is from cold to massive hit takes less than 10 seconds. This on demand style is definitely blazing the path for others to follow and improve on.

I am always about customization from the wood, to the stems, it makes you feel like you truly have a one of a kind piece of functional art. These short black/brown glass stems really seem nice and add the stealth factor while keeping the look of an e-cig mod. In addition my opinion is these wood stems are the bees knees and would be a great item of offer for sell on the rbt site. I think the vapcap really took this idea to the next level and it has been fun watching a great company exploded!

I wish @RastaBuddhaTao and @RBTMarketing nothing but the best as they get these creative ideas flowing!

To everyone else please drive safe tonight if choosing to go out and drink because tomorrow we feast! Well truthfully we should be thankful for what we have it may not be a lot but there are people living with much much less. Lets forget about the materialistic ways and just spread love this holiday season!

:peace:

I need to give another thanks to @DDave real quick. I realize how often I use his reducer, and it's become much more to me than just a tool to vape or a fun toy to play with. It has become a total life style change when it comes to vaping.

I am going through so little herb, can really hone in on the flavors, and can have precise dosing. My mind thanks you for keeping it sharp and preventing mild over dosing.

It not only works as it should, but it teaches modesty and consistency. It helps me place limits on myself as far as how much I vape, and let's me stick to those limits with extreme contentness.

The coolness on my throat now cannot be underestimated. No back of the throat hit that makes your eyes tear. If you shed a tear, it's either because of the overwhelming amount of THC in your lungs or your overwhelming happiness using the kit.

Again and again, thanks a ton man for working with all of us, and regardless of the vape, giving the customer what they want.

Of course, none of this would be possible without RBT so a massive thanks to him too. Portable log is starting to become an understatement.
