Discontinued The Grasshopper

Perhaps you need to take a vacation. You know....a life "reset"....where you can re-prioritize. Remember...if you feel unsafe....stop, drop and roll. Oh...sorry...that is in case you are on fire.

This is a $175 luxury purchase....and $175 in the vape arena is relatively inexpensive imo. I personally paid considerably more for my GH off Ebay...and despite some of its inconsistencies....imo was worth every penny.

I'm not quite certain why/how so many posters who are upset with their GH or with Hopper Labs seem to exhibit quite such a degree of entitlement. This is not a surgical instrument...it is a damn pot vaporizer. Let's try to get ahold of ourselves here. You may be worried about a lot of things....but your worry about "catastrophic failure" of your weed vaporizer just sounds like a first world problem to me.

If you are that worried....sell it....and move on to complain about your many other purchases. There are plenty of folks who would love to own your GH. I feel sorry for retailers and companies who have to deal with consumers these days.

Cheers!

Off-topic but some people really use these devices as medicinal units. Maybe to you it's just a pot vaporizer, but I can guarantee you there a numerous people who would take offense to that statement, including me. It's not just a pot vaporizer. It's a way to administer medicine for my Crohn's disease. So yes, a catastrophic failure can be a big deal. When I went to Colorado my original Pax almost crapped out. And my heart sank with that thought.

Anyhow as soon as I came home I purchased a Mighty and a Grasshopper. I'm still awaiting my grasshopper but I most likely will always bring a backup device with me, Mighty or the CO2 cart pen something like that, just in case. Edibles are also substitutes for a catastrophic failure.

Anyway enough of my rant, back to on topic
-----

I wonder if other people are having zero issues at all with there grasshopper. I wonder how long the longest running grasshopper is.

And I'm still super stoked to get it.

Just ordered both styles of cases from @Kfirrer, the cone cover and case with battery compartment. Will let you all know what i think of both styles once they come in.

Had a couple of hickups on my order (my mistake not the sellers) and kfirrer got back to me with several messages very very quickly. I have a good feeling, considering cust service is already appearing to be top notch.

More to come.

For many of us, a vaporizer is an important medicinal device. If that's the case, then the smart responsible thing is to have a back up (or multiple backups). Then a failure isn't catastrophic. It's just a hiccup. In the case of those for whom a vape is a luxury item, I agree with Jabba. There are so many other tings more worthy of angst than the fact you haven't gotten your 13th vaporizer in the time frame you wanted or the bleeding edge tech you signed on for (and paid less than retail for) doesn't have all the bugs worked out. That's what you signed on for. (No, I am NOT excusing GHL's lousy communications. Please let's not start beating that deceased equine again.)

And if you are only going to have one device for medicinal applications, it probably shouldn't be bleeding edge new tech. You would probably be better served by having an established device while you wait for the new tech to settle out.

I have a kfirrer case. I like it , but will not be able to do any fitment comparisons for the battery and or hopper since i don't have one yet. For the price, I think its decent option compared to whats available. This is my first 3D printed item so I don't have much experience with the technology but you can see the line by line texture of plastic being laid down. That's my best guess on why the texture of the plastic is the way it is. Sorry if my explanation is not so clear. I think its going to do the job well for me, having something to store it in and keeping the smell contained. One thing I did notice is the cobb webs of plastic, again probably due to the manufacturing process. Mine probably could've been cleaned up better or just ream out the holes to get rid of them. My main carrying case didn't have much of these cobb webs but my mini storage container that came with it for free seems to have more of these webs of plastic. Not a big deal, overall I think its a great case for what it's designed to do.

@Mr. Me2 , Congrats! I hope you experience only good things with your hopper.

I'd like to know if this is worth any use to anyone - I'm not even sure it's of use to me, yet, but just came across this.... And at the outset, I apologize for the verbosity; I can't figure how to say this briefly without explanation.:hmm:

I believe that up until a battery is downright dead, there may be a use for it before it completely craps out as eventually expected.

I always experience the conundrum (do you?) knowing whether, during a session when the cloud density drops off, my herb is spent, or, the battery just getting drained.

And then on the next hit, I usually turn the Temp up and/or take a much longer pull - and most of the time I'm disappointed that I shouldn't have wasted the hit on an "healthy" battery.

For the sake of definition, let's call a brand new battery an "A-battery, and one that is almost-ready for the trash, the "B-battery". I haven't arrived at a point yet where I have such a B-battery, but sooner or later...

I've found that, indeed, swapping out that mid-session battery for a fully-charged one, brings the nearly spent load back to life for a cloud or two. But that has consequences for keeping track of which batteries are in serious need of charge, etc... It's frustrating and confusing. But it brings me to these conclusions/observations:

1) A half-spent A-battery will vape a fresh load satisfactorily, but doesn't do so well on a nearly-spent load.
2) A fully-charged B-battery will vape a nearly-spent load as well as a healthy battery (considering that it will yield even one hit before it goes blinky Red to be acceptable).

So I'm thinking that, when I get a B-battery, what if I use a fully-charged B-battery to vape the rest of the load, as a way to save the healthy battery from a futile energy drain? It's using a healthy battery for nothing. So why not us a shitty one that has one good hit in it?

Is that worth doing or is it just a silly shell game?

Sounds like waaaay too much work, swapping batteries mid-stream on every bowl, if I'm understanding you.
Granted, I don't have any B batteries yet.
I've been using five in rotation and swap out after 2 or 3 bowls or if lights indicate. One in hopper, two in pouch and two in charger.

There's a really good price for titanium hoppers on eBay that a seller linked to on reddit. I actually got my SS hopper from him so he's legit although the prices weren't as good at the time.

http://m.ebay.com/itm/Grasshopper-T...E-WARRANTY-EXTRA-BATTERY-/222223838724?nav=VI

That is a great price... It's almost tempting to buy at least one for the extra $30 and let my two with HL stay in the que. Being a 12/5/15 preorder, I'm guessing I'm a mid-late September delivery, but to have one now......

I don't get the battery anxiety really haha. I have six and rotate them constantly, so switching them out mid session doesn't bother me....it takes like 15 seconds.
I'm with you, mate. Its a battery and all Li ion batteries have a limited number of discharge/charge cycles and then they die.

But as a half depleted battery and its vaping characteristics....I don't know, I don't see it. When I get a bit of flickering in the lights I take the battery out, pop it in a Nitecore and put in another fully charged battery. I have numbered them with a Sharpie and just go to the next in sequence.

My GH is still running perfectly well (please, vaporizer gods, this is NOT hubris...hear me? LOL) and there is more pressing issues in my life to stress over.

Cheers

I already have the stainless steel but I ordered a blue titanium in June 2016 so that's gonna take a while to come and I'm having a similar dilemma. I think I might actually prefer a regular ti to a blue for discretion and because it will show scratches less. Plus getting it now is very tempting especially considering it's even cheaper than getting it through hopper labs with the free shipping and free battery he's offering.

The main reason I'm hesitating is that I'm thinking hopper labs might actually be producing a better product by the time I get my titanium hopper since they seem to be tweaking things as they go. Does anyone think that makes sense? Lol

Yeah..... thought about it and ordered one. I think it was the extra battery that got me! Delivery for this one will be next week.....

With the lifetime warranty it doesn't matter if they improve it in the future, you will get the improved parts if you need them. I say go for it, it is a great deal. I'd be tempted to jump on it if I didn't just get my address confirmation.

I'm gonna wait. I waited this long. Don't want anything bad to happen. Somehow I'll get screwed. I know it.

How hard is it to get a refund from hopper labs?

I'm really thinking about it.

It does, and I considered emailing him and asking the range of serial numbers, but decided it is probably like my Crafty was. Many people had no issues at all, some of us got them quickly. In the end, it was a little more playing around, but it's a small price to pay to support my VAS habit!

If this turns out to be an early unit, and I'm not completely convinced it is, then I still have a good chance of receiving one that works great. If it goes bad, I work with HL on a resolution. If it's a newer unit, it's really the same situation, just with a marginally better chance of it working long term.

I actually asked when he got them from Hopper on reddit. I probably should have been more specific answer was a little vague.
I'll post it here :

That's correct - priced to move. These are legit and work great - check my feedback. The photos I've added are more representative of this current batch (should have more SS coming in relatively soon). The new Ti bodies are slightly different (darker) shade than the clip. These will go on sale live for $249.99 on the ghvape.com website. I locked in my wholesale pricing with Hopper Labs back in 2013. I received this batch about 30 days ago, fyi. Hope that answers everyone's questions. If you have more, feel free to give me a shout.

Yea I went for it too. I guess I can always change my mind before I activate the warranty shouldn't be too difficult to sell. Although I don't see why I would!

Ok fuck it. This fucking VAS. I have ordered the Grasshopper. LMFAO.

Basically, I figure, I'll get it way before they make my order at Hopper Labs. If everything is good, and warranty registers, I'll probably either cancel or see if someone wants my order. I feel bad, but I have no idea when they are going to get to mine (May 2016), and this will be a way faster way to get one.

I'll then place an order for batteries and the sleeve separate.

Let's see what happens.

Edit: In looking through the feedback, I see a lot of them for higher prices. I wonder why he dropped the price so much. Oh well. LMAO

I actually asked about that too. He said he wasn't moving them quick enough at the higher prices but he probably priced them too low this batch so he might raise the price next batch. All the more reason to buy now.

Ha...just did the same thing with the exact same reasoning... I ordered mine from GHL in March 16'...very pumped to finally try this thing next week!!!

Oh yeah, I've read through this thread a lot.... Nitecore or xtar chargers, which one to buy. That is the question. LOL. I saw someone mention the I4 as opposed the D4....

What about the xtar vc4?

What temp are you using? Lower temps seem to result in cooler backend s.

I am usually a temp stepper. Normally I'll back the bowl full or 3/4 full (but loose pack). I'll take 2 pulls around 2.5 then another 4 pulls between temps 3.2-4.2. I'll maybe get a 2nd half packed bowl. The backend gets pretty warm on the lower temps. My draws are usually kinda long and medium strength I guess. I can try that turning dial trick. Otherwise I'll warranty eventually.

Here's a question for the floor...

When you soak your mouthpiece in ISO, do you drop that in hot water, a la Crafty/Mighty cu soak?
