The abv says a lot about this thing. It is as pure convection as I've ever had, and the only other unit that does it this well is the MV. Both these units have strong signatures, which I am now starting to associate with almost pure convection.
Unless I overdo it and combust, the abv in this thing is always a deceptively light tan.

The green abv (to the back right of the ash tray) is from where i scraped my tweezers along the edge of the bowl and screen. I probably hadn't dislodged that stuff all day. Probably around 8 or 10 bowls at that point already. Everything else in the bowl was pretty evenly brown.

Yeah even brown, particularly lower on the dial, shockingly dense satisfying cloudy hits despite the herb color, you will notice how the load shrinks and dries out though the more you hit it. Sometimes I'll put a lunch if green on top of a shrunken avb to finish it off with better flavor (and bonus effects). The only time I ever really get hot spots is when I'm pushing it, like through water if I'm not careful.
@little maggie & @vapen00b I honestly don't think 50 units have even been sold of the single... Not sure that number applies at all anymore actually, it'll be developed and kicked off in full force as soon as possible I believe

I got a good friend of mine who happens to have tested over time nearly every single vape I owned, while not being a vaper himself. The first time I made him test the Zion, his immediate reaction was: "yeah! I really like this one, this is hands down the best model you made me use so far".
Yesterday evening I went to his place for dinner and to watch some TV shows. We were on the couch and he asked me "did you bring the one from last time?", to which I answered "no, only took the Flowermates"... if you could have seen the disappointment in his eyes! He told me "man, this one was really good, I loved the effects, bring it back next time please!".
My girlfriend loves it too! At first with both of them I tended to babysit the process by doing all the preheat+draw+release timings on the trigger myself while they drew on the stem. Helped them get their first good rips, so they knew what to expect. And shortly after they expressed a strong desire for me to stop doing the babysitting thing, implying without saying it openly "come on you really think we are that dumb? there's just a fucking trigger to push!".
But I think I've found myself so many times in awkward situations in the past when trying to make other people use my portable devices, imagine especially with the Ascent! The thing was a nightmare, nobody excepted my girlfriend and me was really able to grasp the right technique and they kept saying "it doesn't work, I got nothing, are you sure it's on?" x)
With the Zion, I just had to remind them to focus on preheating a few seconds and releasing the trigger before they are done drawing. But that's all, and my fears were unfunded: they got good hits without any help. For sure not the fat clouds I'm able to pull now that me and Ashton are intimate, but I'm sure that if they had their personal Zion, it would come very organically over the course of time...
What I love the most is the ritual, the entire experience is great. It's paced as you want it to be. In many aspects and curiously it feels to me the closest to the experience I liked when smoking joints: being able at times to smoke fast and big, and at other times to puff some then rest it in the ashtray to take it back later and re-light it. I got all of that with Ashton: loading it is even faster than rolling, way faster. Lighting it the first time is 5 seconds of preheat, not that much more compared to lighting a spliff. And after that you're at your own pace. You can chain hit it, but you can also put it aside easily, you are in control and that is so much better than being dictated the timing by a session conduction vape!
If you like wood and log vapes, get one! If you like convection vapes, get one! If you like free-flowing and super low draw restriction, get one! If you like on-demand strong hits and clouds, get one! If you like pure favor, get one! If you love glass tools, get one! If you have VAS, get two!

And don't forget single hits on demand, even without preheat, are very doable in the production Zion. Sessions are fantastic, but taking just one strong rip every now and then is also a wonderful experience. Why shouldn't vaping be as variable as smoking? Here it is!
And yeah with newbies, as I've said they can often hit it better than me! My ex gf who also has used all my vapes gives Zion the top tier status and she hates thinking about any of it, just wants something that works easily and well. I truly believe this is the one vape that would be enough if I could only have one...

Which of course makes want to apologize for the quality of the following video. Flower drops are a new product that is basically an e-liquid without the nicotine that is custom blended to optimize it for vaporization. It's a tasty fun way to finish off a load helping to squeeze out a few more usable draws.
Even if you will never need the extreme power to vaporize in excess of 500 F it's nice to know it's there is margin to ensure years of reliable performance. However, to date we have seen zero signs of wear and tear in the Beta testing of this bullet proof High Surface Area heater technology. It's out of the gate reliability has been impressive and can be blamed on the Z-Teams continual testing and expert feedback.

We are not allowed to talk about shipping here but I can say what @Shit Snacks theory is that no where nea5 50 where sold in pre-order and he was correct. Each week I will be emailing next weeks customers to check the shipping address and see if there is any accessories they would like to add to the order. Yeh I watched a bench clearing brawl as St. Louis (10 games back) beat Milwaukee. I then headed across the street to the Oyster Bar for an amazing evening with AK and the One Drops. The Cards won the world series that year and I found a band that was in my ear a good deal of the time that the Zion came to life. Give em a listen if you like blues infused reggae.
I thought that someone would call me out for not being a purist with the Flower Drops but you can just use 100% organic VG with no flavoring and its is nearly tasteless. I think it's pretty cool because it's kind of like dabbing flower. It's not for everyone and if nothing else the work has improved my understanding of the high end signature of this new heater technology.

You know I put a bit of wax wrapped between a couple small buds and proceeded to hit that stem about 30 or more times. I used it on 3 separate occasions but really 2 honest to goodness sessions. 12-15 hits each session or more. Flavor was degraded late in the second session so those drops would be a perfect way to keep a good flavor real late in the session.

There is so much interest in this vape, even Luddites are aching to give it a whirl. I figured, why not share the Zion with everyone who wants to try it?
All KIDDING aside, these guys were impressed with how great the vapor tastes, in contrast to relatively bland wood and glass flavors.
You can see in that last pic that some were even too chicken to try it.
It was received well by the humans here, as well. My room mate basically combusts in every vape he uses; if a temp controlled vape fluxes, he won't know until he opens it up and sees the ashes; limited sense of smell/taste, combined with lack of care. He also has difficulty getting enough product at once to get him fucked up. This was a problem with his Volcano, even with a relatively late bag attached, so I was skeptical. He managed to only char the load in the Zion, and the large load I packed him got him smashed. I told @RastaBuddhaTao that I give it my gold seal of approval, and that it would receive platinum if i

That being said...
I absolutely love the things I have seen and read here. So much so, I am willing to throw tradition to the wind. For what I KNOW will be a great product.
