Temperature profile optimization is going well. I haven't had a unit instrumented since before the 2x4 and have been making changes based on feel. Now that we are dialing it in high speed thermal couples have been ordered for tomorrow delivery. Now I will be able extract exact time to temperature data so I can generate some curves for all to digest. I work better with pictures.

Round numbers it's inder 2 seconds to get to temperature once warmed up but let's get precise here.

Please don't do this to yourself (or us). There is no way to do a proper beta test and get units out there with any adjustments necessary before 4/20. Either it won't happen (cue the disappointment) or the units shipped will have flaws (cue the disappointment).

Good point. To reiterate what was stated earlier in the thread. These units are Not production units. These units are an extension of the beta test fleet and will have there flaws and quirks. I will be explicit in what the units are and what the warranty is. These units are meant for expert users who want to be part of the fine tuning. I will cover this at time of purchase. The 100 will be metered out 10 or 20 at a time to ensure no problems get out of hand. Let's discuss this in our Beta team PM and get back to the forum with a decision

To be fair to Pak, if he gets his unit next week and feels that there are things that need to be addressed before we start shipping the 100 we will delay launch. That is why I we beta test. In my humble opinion I think it's ready for the FC super users

Customers on the Zion 100 list will receive units given the development nature of the units. Production units will be US only at time of launch. Plans are being generated to obtain CE and CSA certifications.

Great learning out of a ton of testing the heater temperature profile with MrP yesterday. Materials arrived today to tune the thermal mass of the unit. There are so many variables... Draw speed, draw flow rate, single user, multiple user, screen pressure drop, load density... Goes on forever... Thow in the rapid ramp up and ramp down and it's nearly impossible to accurately measure and characterize. So, I am back to providing a "just above golden brown during an aggressive two person session" rather than chasing the magic 440 max temperature. This device is far to organic to generalize it's performance with a number. Everyone will find there own place on the dial.

So sometime last night when I was quite medicated I brought out the 3D PDF rendering of the Zion that TKW gave us a while back to entertain and impress us (worked, btw). So as I was listening to some music I found myself sitting there rotating and flipping the image like a video game for at least 30 minutes (maybe more) and then finally pulled myself away and went on with my evening.
So, this morning when I sat down at the puter the image was still up there and I found myself playing with it for a minute or 2 UNmedicated.
And I imagined "If a 3D image of the Zion can keep me entertained for a while, imaging how I'll feel about the REAL Zion".
Then I had some Yogurt.

Happy Easter everyone! My 2x4 is still plugging along. It is getting double use now. I am still roasting 6-10 sessions a day and I am using it for my e-liquid vape as well. One drop of "juice" on a spent load and you get some great vape hits. I will prob look into some kind of cotton filter to drop my e-juice on in a separate stem. I was a bit worried that the juice would drip into the heater but as long as you are not over saturating the chamber no drips. So this thing is running basically non-stop all day. I got to help bench test some of the heater refinements with RBT Thursday and I think it shows. I also got a glimpse of some other concepts that will have some folks drooling, "literally."
