Well said @Crohnie ~ However those stats are misleading in that they kinda cloud the current situation in Chicago.

Over 4th of July weekend, there were 36 shootings in Chicago between Thursday night and Saturday morning.... Is that the worst? I don't know, but it is the reality.

Ah...the power of the media! So far in 2014, Chicago is on track to have even less murders than 2013 (which was already the lowest since 1965)

In reality, the situation in Chicago has dramatically improved in the last 25 years.
