Super Mario 3. (loved the others, but 3 was amazing for the time)
Street Fighter 2
Bases Loaded 2
RC Pro-Am
Excite Bike

Nintendo had a lot of good games, just expensive compared to nowadays. Games cost about the same as they did back then, but it seems like almost everything else costs at least double now as it did in the late 80's and early 90's.

maybe I will download some rom's to play old NES games without having to use my old NES. Anyone know a safe place to download NES rom's?

Wow, you can actually get NES USB controllers!

http://www.amazon.com/Classic-USB-NES-Controller-PC/dp/B002YVD3KM

Just take my $10 NOW! :D I wonder if you can hook up 2 controllers at once? That would be awesome.

Thanks 2 cycle. Looks like I can take a trip down memory lane.

Lol, I remember when my brother paid like $60 for Dragon Warrior IV in 1990 and I thought he was crazy. Then again, I also remember him paying $30 to order the Robotech movies on VHS from our local video rental store (since that's the only place we could find who could order those films for us)

I was always an RPG kinda guy myself, I preferred Zelda and the Dragon Warrior series myself. And I did love the MegaMan series, but I never owned one of the games (they were super expensive, even on the used market)

Can't believe I forgot TMNT. Spent many hours playing that game. Really want to go buy a NES on eBay now.

Can't believe no one's mentioned Kirby's Adventure! So much content and variety for a game from that era. And what a great soundtrack! Allow me to link one of my favorite arrangement albums: the entirety of the Kirby's Adventure soundtrack, arranged and performed by the prolific Jason Cox (XOC) and available for free or purchase on Bandcamp:

XOC - What's Pink and Sucks?

The Xbox One controller is also great for playing NES and SNES games on the PC. .
Gotta recommend the Wii U Pro controller here. IMO it's much better suited to playing classic Nintendo games, from the NES to the N64.

(For Gamecube games I'd instead recommend a new Gamecube controller, since they're still making them, paired with one of Nintendo's new official GCN to Wii U (USB) adapters which work great with Dolphin. The Gamecube controller's face button layout and unique hybrid analog/digital triggers are difficult to translate to any other controller...)

For playing NES, SNES, N64, or GBA games the U Pro controller has several advantages.

For one thing, it gets you proper SNES-style labels on the face buttons: Accept (A) is on the right and Back (B) is on the bottom.

You also get proper great feeling digital triggers, labeled ZL and ZR (L and R are positioned like Xbox bumpers). This is important for SNES, N64, and GBA games.

Swapping the location of the face buttons and right analog stick gets you a proper SNES-style D-pad and face button layout in the middle of the controller, and the shape of the handles makes it just as comfortable to rest your thumbs there instead of on the sticks. The D-pad is excellent, too. It's like the most comfortable SNES controller ever.

It's also wireless, with 80hrs of battery life! Best battery life out of any of the next gen controllers, to my knowledge.

As an aside, it's also fantastic for dual-stick shooters new and old. Having the sticks on the same level feels great.

All you need is a Mayflash Wii U Pro Controller Adapter ($18 on Amazon), which plugs into your computer via USB, connects to the U Pro controller wirelessly, and presents it to your PC as an Xbox 360 controller. It even maps the button labels correctly, so when your PC game thinks you have an Xbox controller and asks you to press 'A', you actually press 'A' on the controller vs pressing the bottom button where A would normally be. As someone who's spent most of their time gaming on Nintendo consoles, I love how this 'translates' games to Nintendo-style controls automatically.

A few Android emulators are even able to connect to it over bluetooth, although it's unfortunately not possible outside those apps. I just wish there was a GameKlip-style device to mount phones to the U Pro Controller for mobile emulation goodness. (@Ratchett? ;))

Sorry for the novel. I took the plunge recently, fell in love, and feel the need to spread the joy. This controller is just that good IMO! I do love using original NES and SNES controllers through USB adapters, but if you're also in the market for a modern controller for your PC then you can really knock the ball out of the park on all fronts with this thing.

Hmmmm that's a bit tough.

1 Mario 3
2 Excite bike
3 Ninja Gaiden
4 TMNT
5 can't remember name, scrolling shooter with a jet.... Was awesome!

Also liked Mc Donald game, weird I know... But crazy physics for Mario like performer. Stupid hard and had you playing upside down and running up walls and crap... But mc Donald sucks.
Any one pay it?

Oh and the Robot baseball game!

And the basket ball game where you punch eachother, lol.

And hockey! Lol tried to pay that again, used to love the "fighting" thing.... Can't figure it out for the life of me now though... Can only scrape the ice with the skate, IDK...

OH and speaking of duck hunt and super Mario, my cartridge also had the track and field game. Man what riot with the stupid pad thing. XD

Also played that really really crapy kungfoo game all the time. Man it sucked.... Like horribly. Friends loved making bets about who could get to the highest floor though, even though we all 100% despised that game!

Awww... Nintendo. :)

Now I got fight the urge to pick up a NES-nail again!

Was going to say that verbatim almost looks exactly like an Xbox controller with the face buttons and analog stick swapped. Funny that it gets emulated as one.

I use a PS3 controller emulated as a 360 as my PC gaming controller (emulator controller)

Some older games I use the fightstick but it is sometimes quite finnicky with the emulators/roms.

I'm a kid of the 90s, this is slightly before my time to have actually appreciated them that much. My dad had a NES he used to let us play, I vividly remember playing:

- Ninja Gaiden
- SMB/Duck Hunt
- SPY HUNTER!!! I remember this one the most of all, my dad really loved this game and it was simple enough that as a 3-6 year old I could understand it.
- Double Dragon

I have very fleeting memories of another game, I had to look up the most popular NES games and check out some screenshots, but I think it was Rygar.

My mom threw it out one time cleaning out stuff years later.....my pops was quite angry.

Also, its too bad Mega Man doesn't look like this anymore:

it is truely a blast kids these days are graphics spoiled

Funny you mention that, my dad is 50 and a big gamer. Just beat the new Metal Gear the other day actually and is about to start up Fallout 4.

He, to this day, cites some game called Zork as one of the best games ever. It's entirely text based. He loved it though because it was apparently like one of the earliest games that remembered stuff. I guess just had object orientation? Like you could take stuff from one room to another to solve a puzzle. We truly are spoiled now a days
