Yocan UNI - Universal Portable Box Mod

You can buy Hive carts on Ebay for $3 each shipped ($15/5), with the oil version slightly less. Last box I bought came from Florida, took less than a week?

OF

I already have Hive cartridges, but the 14 gauge needle I use will not fit down inside of them to properly fill. I’m not sure a thick distillate would run through a smaller guage needle.

I'm not sure what I'm using, but it fits and works fine. For thick oils I float the syringe with a toothpick plugging the needle in a glass of hot tap water in the sink for a few minutes, it flows fine when warm.

Pull back on the plunger before heating so there's a vacuum that won't let the plug pop out,

Or not.

Do you think it might be a 12 gauge? I want to order something that will fit and I can get different sizes from Amazon.

It goes the other way, big numbers for small sizes. These measure .063 inches, making them most likely 16 gauge (.065)

Sometimes the color indicates size, unfortunately being color blind the best I can offer is 'dark'.

OF

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Maybe I should try a 16 gauge then, maybe even 18, as long as the distillate will move freely through the needle.

@Yocantech

What are the actual voltage settings of the low/med/high settings of the UNI? I'm assuming around 3v/3.5v/4.2v but I want to know exactly and it's not in the manual or on your website.

Excellent information, thanks. Is that 'standard', that is do Hive 2.0 and Evolve 2.0 have the same values for their 3 ranges as well?

TIA

OF
Yes,you can think so,it's standard, the Hive 2.0 and Evolve 2.0 have the same values. :)

Thanks for the prompt response. That makes sense since you're substituting for 'standard vape pens'.

I think I follow the 'you can think so' comment. As I understand such variable mods to deal with decaying battery voltage you first boost it up (otherwise how could you supply 4.2 Volts from a 3.6 Volt battery?). My understanding it this is to about six Volts. Then, that higher voltage is 'broken down' to the lower value desired by 'duty cycle'. That is it's rapidly switched on and off, the higher the percentage of 'on time' the higher the effective voltage and therefore heating.

You don't really deliver say 3.8 Volts, but rather an output that gives equivalent heating to what 3.8 Volts DC would.

Thanks again for the confirmation.

Been on the pre-filled cart bandwagon for a couple of years now, lately using Ccells (off Ebay) and distillates in syringes. Mostly Stiiizy or THClear.

Really enjoying my Uni, a great improvement over my original Hive which is out of rotation. Heavy Hitters, Brass Knucles, Alpine, Spliffin, everything fits and locks down tight.

Got this red one from Ebay for fifteen dollars, an awesome battery.

I'm with you there, Since UNI I've got several Hives (1 and 2) that haven't been used.

Neat unit, for sure.

FWIW I'm also enjoying Evolve 2.0, a more 'pocket friendly' package with similar carts. Only 3 types, wax, juice and heavy oils. You might want to check it out?

I’ve had great luck for about 2 weeks with the uni, but I popped in a new 510 cartridge today and now all carts give the 5 flashes for “No Atomizer”. Anyone have any luck with this?

Yep, there is a little wire instead that has come off its contact likely. I sold one that was working perfectly to an engineer and it must have been jostled in shipping and had the same issue (I also had an issue like this direct from Yocan). Anyways, he had the savvy to take it apart and fix the wire and it's working great now.

Not saying that's it for sure, but could be.

Sounds good, I have a bit of a background in tinkering so I’ll give it a shot when I get the chance. Thanks for the answer!

Yup, seen it from time to time. Open circuit (no connection) almost certainly the center pin on the cart. Remove the base and carefully back the center pin out a tiny bit. It's 'floating' (free to move) in the rubber bushing and is hopefully making contact. Or, alternatively, press the center pin in the adapter up a tiny bit so that when you screw the two together they make solid contact (and one or the other moves a tiny bit.

I just tested this on my Uni. I forced the fault and fixed it again using the above.

Normally the center pin in the mod is spring loaded so the precise length doesn't matter. The adapter defeats this. The pin on the new cart is just a tiny bit higher (into the cart) than the last. Once the fit on the new cart to the adapter if fixed, expect continued sailing.

I'm having trouble getting a response back from @Yocantech but I've been emailing them for what it seems like a month now trying to get a replacement from my faulty device, I've already took all the proper steps and at this point I feel they're just ignoring on purpose refusing to take responsibility.

@Yocantech is usually good about these kinds of things. Is this a new device?

what sort of issues have you been having? I fixed my atomizer error by just cleaning the adapter and my cart, and now as long as the adapter is on all the way I’ve had no issues. Hope you get a response!

I'm not entirely sure how new this device is to the market, but I had my yocan dive for about a week and half before it broke. Basically the magnetic cap was too strong for the device because me removing the cap of the device ripped out the internal parts just from the magnetic force alone!

I'm sorry, I don't follow. What is a "yocan drive"? Did you perhaps mean "Hive", both pass spell check.....

This is about the UNI which is similar, but different.

Do you mean you pulled part of the connector out with the cartridge? I don't think that's ever been reported but I guess is possible.

As far as contact goes, I've had great success with PM to Yocantech, you might try that?

Thanks Ms. Vicki. No doubt (one I don't know), not only is not UNI, but it seems it doesn't share the same hardware with Hive, UNI, et al?

Best advice we can offer is the PM. I sure don't think we're going to fix it by advice/experience here.

BTW, I love the kittens on the slide bit, a guy can get caught watching it...... Reminds me of some of the jobs I've had. It's like the White Rabbit said to Alice, "Sometimes it takes all the running we can do to stay in the same place". True then, maybe even truer now?

Regards to all.
