Yocan Black Pocket: The Portable Dab Experience, Redefined

I have tried the Yocan Black Pocket. Just one time so my comments are based on that initial usage.

I kept it on the base settings. 15 sec. session at 580F (according to the screen, I have no way to verify actual temp.). I added two of the included terp pearls.

I loaded what I would consider a rice-sized amount. I purposely went smaller than I would usually because I know my normal is bigger than many might use. I definitely liked the hits I got. First two hits were flavorful and milky. Third was almost on par as the first two. By the fourth the taste and clouds had degraded. I did one more and barely got anything. Puff counter is at 0005.

Looking at the chamber there was dark oil still pooled at the bottom but since I wasn't getting much I decided it was done. This is where I ran in to some minor issues. There was no way a dry q-tip was going to clean up what remained. As soon as I tried it started to unravel on the sticky reclaim. And with the two terp pearls in there I would guarantee those would be lost if I kept trying to clean with the dry swab. I used a swab moistened with ISO and that worked much better. But the terp pearls still got in the way and I had to be extra vigilant to not lose them. Since I couldn't see the chamber in use like the Orbit I couldn't verify the pearls were spinning and will have to consider whether the extra cleaning hassle makes them worth it. FWIW they are smaller than those with the Orbit so may be easier to lose. The swab was definitely dark with reclaim, probably much more than I get with the Orbit. If I was using the Orbit I might have gotten two or more extra hits based on my experience.

Like anything the Pocket has a learning curve and I have just started the journey. As opposed to some of the other pens I have tried over the last few years this one seems worth the effort. Quite interested to hear others reviews including cleaning procedures. Sounds like the default temp I used may be way too high but again I am still learning. Sorry this was so long.

Tap your terp pearls out before you swab it , then drop them in iso .

Took 20 50 second dabs at 485f before it said “low battery”

That's a pretty damn good battery for such a small device! Looking forward to the review!

Your video will probably do it but in the interim can you explain what you mean by "20 50 second dabs"? I think that means the pen will run at temp for that amount of time. Are you just continually taking hits? Doesn't it get too hot/burn the product after that long? I am using the default 15 seconds, like on my Orbit.

As for dab count per charge, mine showed 0037 and was down to below one bar so I charged to full again. I think I got five or six different "sessions" out of the first full charge. Not scientific by any means but the battery seems good for my use.

FWIW Yocan says "Wet Q-Tip Then Dry Side After Session" so I wasn't far off. I am trying to emulate how I clean the Orbit which is just a dry swab after each session and then a deeper ISO swab/clean every so often. I now find I can wipe out the chamber pretty well with a dry swab right after a session.

Nope! Not at 485f or 500f, or the couple I just did at 530f for the same amount of time. I will say I put a lil extra in at 530f, otherwise there might’ve been some difficult stains
