I got a Nano in november, having a few V3's and a Roffu, i know of "burn in" routine.
I cleaned what i could with iso and over time must have been trough at least 20 complete heat cycles.
Also let it air for a week outside.
The nasty chemical taste is not going away.
I,m out of options, luckily it was only about 45 euro.

I would contact them about it.

Hi, long-time lurker, first post ever on FC, go me 😜

I just wanted to add that I'm experiencing the exact same qualities on my new Nano that @dampo described. I haven't used the device yet as I'm hesitant, and have done what seems like 40 burn offs, but still getting the same nasty chemical smell, and when I put the mouthpiece in to simply inhale air, nasty plasticky chemical taste as well. Thinking about sending it back to POTV for a refund/exchange, maybe I have a dud? Sigh..

Welcome!

I've owned the Xmax V3 Pro & Roffu and both devices have the same smell/taste as the Nano. It is most likely due to the Kanthal that Xmax incorporates. I kept the Nano because it's an easy to use, hybrid portable at a fair price. After 'seasoning' it through use, I don't notice it anymore.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Dustin!

I really want to like this device, but concerned about any possible health issues that might be lurking. Thanks for mentioning Kanthal, I was unfamiliar with this material and just found a V3 Pro thread from this past May that discusses this, and this person uses a description of it smelling like solder, and I kind of agree with. I'm sure if I ran some material through it would mask the issue, but I'm not so sure I want to go this route and take a chance. Will give it another day or two to ponder..

Try to turn the device on (either the v3 nano or the pro, but use max temp on the v3p), cover one airhole and blow into the other one. I'm doubt that it's related to the kanthal coil though, but it help to burn off effectively. I think you should leave the mouthpiece on so hot air will pass around there too which might help?

Thanks @XpeeN, I will give this idea a try, it can't hurt.👍

Contrary to my expectation, this is the solution!
after the first "blowing session" the nasty smell already decreased, one more and now it is virtually gone.
Thank you for the great advice.

I got a Nano today and the instructions say to charge it “at least for six hours”. It also say that when the green light is on, charging time is over. My unit showed the green light a couple of minutes after I plugged it in. I’m trying to do some burn offs as the unit smells terrible but I can only achieve two sessions out of a “charge”, once I got only one session. What I call a session is keeping the unit on until it switches off by itself. Do I really have to charge it six hours? I think I got a bad unit.

After doing 5 heat cycles and not even stopping or diminishing smelling horrible my unit just died.
I think I'd need 50 heat cycles to make the smell go away (other than storing it outside or trying to blow on the side). But I think I'll return it and try to get a refund instead of a new unit.
IMHO this unit is a bit superfluous as it is, especially if you already have a v3pro as I do.
It seems way smaller than the V3pro and it is, but with the mouthpiece on, it's just 1cm shorter than the V3pro (it is if you don't put fancy mouthpieces on the v3pro to make it look taller as Troy and Jerry did on this vid)
It is also not pocket friendly since you don't load on the stem "Solo-like" and you always need to put the mp on top of your load.
I gave it a try to see if this would be as fun to use as the Flowermate Cap but imho it isn't and the smell is plain "burnt plastic" horrible and it is a constant feedback I read since the first guy got his unit on this forum.
