I have a 4 inch glass lined stem from Alan. The Stem is a work of art done in Blackwood, but the xl8r stems cool way better.
I got a xl8r jr from Ryan and it is the first short stem (Milaana length) that I have been able to use.
When the RBT store reopens I want to buy 3 of them.

So the xl8r jrs really do work? I use a DDave cooler now but would prefer something smaller that had the same cooling effect. Do you have a DDave cooler to compare the jrs to?

You can order now. I ordered the xl8r yesterday. Use the search on the site and type in RBT and it will come up.
Maybe I need to go back and order the jr.

Remember part of the reason is the XL8R is cooler is they are the 19/19 in size. The extra distance from the heater produces a cooler vapor. That along with the thicker dimpled glass produce the cooling effect you experience.
Between the 2 it does a great job of producing a noticeable cooler vape. Coming from a 19/22 stem with a finer mesh screen it's a huge difference I would venture to say around 20-30 degrees. So much so I now use a different profiles with my DNA for these RBT stems.
Since all the FCSHARE are based on the 19/22 stems with finer mesh screens. You may will need to increase your temperature settings. Or switch material file in DNA mods to 316L for best effect with the XL8R and wider mesh RBT screens.

Given what you wrote, do the jrs cool less because they are closer to the heater?

From my understanding they both use the same 19/19 stem. The shorter height of the junior will be warmer.
It's the stem sitting 3 mm farther away from the heater on the 19/19 stems that affects the temperature along with height of the stem itself.
I really noticed it when I tried the new 19/19 standard RBT stem and screen last week. Up against the normal 19/22 stems with basket screens I use can notice the difference right away.
I do enjoy my JR XL8R it's high quality glass and the dimples do add some addition cooling. If I used glass stems more I would even consider buying a non JR.
Just wanted to share my experience with it. Along with the reasons I feel causes the cooler vapor experiences you get well using them.

How do you guys think @funkyjunky spikey glass coolers with the need length capsule stem would work? Like a wooden stem with a xl8r mini on the inside (asking for @Bravesst lil bud

I have a ddave cooler and I prefer the xl8r. The ddave cooler is much more fragile and difficult to clean.

Haven't seen his before looks interesting and with the lil bud I could see it working a bit better since lil bud was designed using the 19/22 wood stems.
I read a little more on the XL8R stems last night. Looks like some thought and testing went into the thickness of glass amount of fins etc. It would be interesting to compare the 2.

If I used glass I would lean towards RBT since seems a lot higher quality glass and I tend to break glass. Most of my usage is on regulated devices so I can always increase the temperature if needed.
Edit see the post below for a first hand impressions of the FJ stem option made me reconsider my choice
For lil bud I would go with the FJ option with the wooden cover it look good on the lil bud. The dosage capsule also is a interesting ideal.
I tried the XL8R with my lil bud and found it too cold for my preference. It took some extra time warm up to produce vapor. I wasn't happy with the performance compared to a 19/22 stem. Wasn't able to get a hit I found satisfying in the temperature range I use.
Keep in mind I like the higher temperature vaping the lil bud allows. It's not uncommon for me to vape close to combustion levels for sleep and pain. If you enjoy your vapor at around 400 degree or lower you may be find using the XL8R to be a better experience for you. Or for use as a daytime stem where the high temps normally is not needed.
Mike has spent a lot time tuning the coil in the lil bud for the 19/22 stem distance. I would ask him for his thoughts on what the 3mm difference would make in the temperature on his device.
I'm sticking with my estimate of 20-30 degrees. Hopefully some of the others here with both the 19/22 and 19/19 stems or a XL8R could compare them and add there thoughts?
I am using Alan's lil bud 19/22 tube against the RBT XL8R 19/19 stem. I'm also using the stock screen for each stem.

I am sure many many FC users know of my love for the TUBO and to be totally honest the FJ wood stems have not impressed me. I think the inside diameter is too restrictive which makes the vapor feel hotter than it is. I kind of think of this as a regular Grasshopper vs a PFE which is cooler.

Considering I have both but only use one, I would have to say the xl8r cools the vapor even better.

I have not used the DDave mod, but do have the XL8R for my Milaana 2 and it works great as I cannot handle the original stubby stem included. It does a great job cooling, but I am not thrilled about the ground glass fit with the Mi2, it seems like it could fall out too easily and I would not want to pass it to someone unfamiliar with it over a hard surface. I do love the Mi2 & XL8R combo and would be tempted to buy another pair under the sale before Ryan shutters the business which he has discussed on Instagram. Which is a shame given how great this setup works. Someone should buy him out and keep the product coming. @RastaBuddhaTao please chime in if this is not accurate.

I believe he has an investor now. I recently purchased a Splinter Z and I had it in my hands less than a week later. It was not sent by Ryan either. My first order from him was a bad experience but Ryan definitely made up for it. Since the investor stepped in to help I hear everything has been much better. I hope he doesn't go under anyway.
