WTF am I doing wrong??

For the past 6 months I've been attempting to get a vaporizer working. I own the Persei w/herc & core and after sending it back in for repairs 4 times I decied to get another one, hopefuly easier/more reliable. So I get an ascent Da-vinci.

Everything has power issues.... the Persei flashes red and shuts down when either the Hercules or the e-liquird cart are hooked up but works fine with the kiss carts. W9 just told me there is nothing wrong with it... but they will replace it anyway and sending it back.

the da-vinci I just sent back for the second time the power buton does nothing. I got it to turn on once, couldn't turn it off and after it auto-power off'ed I was unable to turn it back on. it will take them another 3 weeks to get it back to me.

I am aware of the 5 presses to turn on/off. I don't get it. Is the universe telling me I should just stick with the proto-pipe and give up this vaporizing idea? I've spent close to $1000.00 on this junk and can't get anything to work. frustrated beyond belief.

I've tried a couple of other cheapo g-pen style vapes and nothing seems to work more than a day or two. I am just

what materials are you using? Or is it just vaporizers in general? There are plenty of vapes that are reliable, but that depends on what you're using it for. The haze vaporizer does both

I thought I'd done my homework. the Persei/Hercules combo is reported to be the most durable portable vaporizer around. suitable for concentrates.

The Ascent / davnici looks like the ultimate portable vape for herb.

I have to much invested in these devices to dump them now. My wife would likely divorce me. the companies do let me keep sending them back, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good.

Yesterday I sent the davinci back. They asked me to make a video of the power button not working. before they would give me an RMA

Today w9 sent me a replacement top. Once it arrives I'll try the Hercules again. These guys rock on turnaround time I just wish I didn't have to keep sending stuff back to them. they found nothing wrong with my persei top, the issue must be in the Hercules.(does this never end?)

The Ascent davinci folk promise to only keep the vaporizer 7-10 days s before shipping my Davnici back for the 2nd time. I didn't realize how spoiled I was. It was 3 weeks turnaround for the first return and as far as I can tell they did nothing but ship it back untouched.

I'm just venting. I am frustrated at having spent over $200 twice for 2 different types of vaporizers and not be able to get either one of them to function.

Welcome to Fuckcombustion @Lou Taylor It seems like there are more faulty units when it comes to portable vaporizers. The Ascent has had its issues. Some really like it I haven't had but one unit I sent back early on. I enjoy using my Ascent and it's over a year old.

I would suggest a log vape also, I hear a lot of good reviews about the Enano. The Solo is a sturdy portable and is easily adapted to water tools and has been around for awhile. A portable isn't meant to be a daily driver, except for the Solo.

EDIT
Paying big bucks for a vaporizer doesn't insure quality either. New vaporizers to the marketplace sometimes need to have time to get the bugs out as @Ratchett says below. So many new units coming out every day but it's buyer beware. Customer service is the real key in buying a vaporizer, go with a vendor with a good reputation such as the vendors on FC.

Hang in there and don't give up on fuckingcombustion, your heath depends on it.

Lol, if you had done any reading into the early days of the Ascent, you'd realize it had MANY issues with the early models (sounds like they got most of those issues resolved...)

I know it sucks, I bought a Davinci Ascent and convinced myself to fuck combustion. It was a lovely 4 weeks. And after exactly 30 days of heavy use - it stopped working (literally between sessions - used it. One hour later emptied, refilled, and powered up - no heat!).

I thought surely $250 meant it was a quality vape - NOPE! Sure it's a nice vape now that they fixed some bugs, but there are still a few issues and a few misconceptions (shame on them for advertising the jars - it can't do concentrates in the jars, no matter what you do). But it's overpriced at $250 - I consider it a better deal at $150.

I've learned never expect a vape to work all the time without any problems. ALWAYS have backups (not one, but multiple). You can spend all the money you want in the world on the most expensive vapes, and may still still have a problem I've also found the newer the vape, the more likely you'll have an issue. I've actually started to take a "sit back and wait" approach - read what the early adopters think before spending money.

I'm REALLY interested in a Crafty vape, but waiting for S&B to work out the "bugs" in the design before I drop $400 on a vape.

It sucks that we need to have multiple backup vapes, but it's better than combustion! On the bright side, the cost of the vapes is off-set by the money you save once you fuck combustion... I'd say my personal monthly bill has been cut in half (I really doubted those claims when I first heard them, until it came true for me)

It's also nice to diversify your vape collection. Right now you are going for all portable state-of-the-art technology. Why not go for something reliable first, then try experimenting with cutting-edge technology?

As some have said, log vapes are extremely reliable (my nano is running 24x7 at 6.5, ready to go any time of day, no matter how hard she falls on the floor when I trip on the cable!). I also have my camping vape - the Lotus, for completely off-the-grid vaping.

Good luck on your quest, I hope you find a vape that fits your needs

It's frustrating to have so much trouble with these expensive products. As others have said, when you're ready to get something else try a log vape. I have an underdog which is simple, brainless and pretty much unbreakable. Plus the customer service is amazing. They sent me a free adaptor because the temperature was too high for me. I know that doesn't help with your current vapes. I went through a few popular ones before settling on the UD as my primary vape. I have a Solo I use sometimes but have given away others I've tried.

Solo is pretty solid - and not as expensive - if you're looking for simple portable vape production with a battery.

If you want to get away from batteries, the vapman is a nice and reasonably priced portable that uses butane fired heat. Just need a half decent torch and a little patience to get the technique down.

Know others will disagree, but IMO if you're going with most portables (those under $300 at least) you're not going to get the best vapor experience. Some work better than others and some are more reliable, but just like anything else that uses electricity batteries won't keep up as well as plugging in and using a jet flame is usually going to require some technique.

And just so you know..... as of yet there is no "ultimate" vape - portable or desktop. If there was you'd definitely be reading about it here and most of us would own one! There will be tradeoffs everywhere you look, with some doing some things better and others doing other things better. Of course, many won't do anything better but drain money from your wallet and create frustration.

See you're all in with these two at the moment, but may want to consider selling them and getting something a bit more reliable.

just to beat the dead horse some more...if you get yourself an e-nano you will never regret it. someone started a thread on here a year ago titled "one hitter quitter" in which they wanted to know best vaping equivalent to one hitters. the e-nano was heartily recommended so i got on board.
holy shit lou it changed my life. the nano is made in the good old USA and practically bulletproof, nothing to really break even if it falls to the floor. practically no cleaning of the unit itself. stems clean like a breeze in some pbw (powdered brewer's wash) see thread for that...easy to adjust your heat with the variable dial. LIFETIME warranty for fc members!!
a heat setting of 5.9 dry thru the pinch stem, 6.7 wet through pinnacle water tool w/ 14mm gong or 7 through the D020 glass bubbler will rock your vaping world my friend. and andy gives a 10% discount on his site for fc members, just remember to enter the code FCLOVE.
don't just take my word for it, read the e-nano thread and see how many folks on here are nuts about this vape, it will become your daily driver and favorite vape in short order--guaranteed.
and i know where you are coming from i have spent a shit-ton of money on the wrong-for-me vapes and accessories, if only i'd found the nano first.... but glad i finally did. good luck in your quest

I don't think I've seen a vape that beats the Pax in portability.
Just saying.

I agree that you should go for a desktop vape, and skip anything battery powered if you're looking for a *real* vape.

Holy Cow! The Persei came back today. They didn't find anything wrong with it but sent me a brand new one anyway (still in wrapper anyway). I still had issues with the Hercules cart but called W9 tech and Gary fixed it over the phone. Turned out when I upgraded from the sr74 to the sr74x I had mixed one of the pieces up. Good thing it was labeled. I've got it in lightsaber mod and can't imagine needing any more than this.

What do you mean by portability? If you meant size I would put the MFLB, Elevape and alpha, to name a few, that are smaller than the Pax, as more portable.
If you meant autonomous, then portables with replaceable batteries (Air, Haze, Inhalater05) would be more portable.
I like the Pax too, but it clinging to the portability crown in the Golden age of vaping we find ourselves in, isn't happening, Just saying.

Secondly, take a big toke off my battery powered crafty and tell me it isn't a *real* vape.
:peace:

As for the OP, +1 for the Enano, if you can see my sig you will notice it rules the roost in my home.

Taking everything into consideration as a portable (ease of use, draw size, battery life, etc.) I still think the pax wins.

Also, I'm sure your crafty, whatever that is, hits nicely, but does it hit as nice as a desktop vape would? Probably not, and the point I was trying to make is that, in my humble opinion, a proper vape is a desktop vape that plugs into the wall and I can connect to a water pipe.

Yes it does, the Mighty as well. You really should educate yourself. That's the beauty of these new products from Storz & Bickel . . .
I wish the ones I have used actually hit like hard hitting desktops.

not having tried the S&B portables, how do you think they stack up with say a DBV or SSV?

I have tried those vapes with friends but do not own them so I would rather comment about heavy hitting vapes I do own and thats the VapeXhale Cloud, Cloud+, EVO, and the Triihouse Daisy. These new S&B portables are just as satisfying to me in every way. Even better are the cooling units on the S&B products. This gives you cool vapor without the hassle of water filtration. Now I love water filtration and I love my glass collection but S&B has changed the game here, for me at least.

Dying to try a crafty or mighty myself, hence my comment above clarifying "under $300" portable. Sorry, and don't mean to offend, but think anyone touting either of these should at least casually mention the price tag - especially when comparing to others discussed above. $400 plus tax & shipping for the crafty, or $470 (but free shipping!) is at least double the cost of anything else mentioned here. Still dying to own one, but the $200 plus price difference to the uber-efficient nano (with added accessories) will cover my med costs for a couple months! Here's to hoping S&B drops the price some time in the near future.

To @Lou Taylor ... glad you're back in business! Hope it keeps going and all stays good. But, if it were me with the experience you've had to date I'd sell it while doing well (and virtually new unit) and grab a nano fast. Can't wander too far from A/C, but is a whole different world from portables, and efficiency is remarkable.
