With or without water, your experiences

I am not sure I have seen this discussed in detail with many people adding in.....so let me start.


I have a very hard time no going through water. There has only been a few times where I could take it for short periods, and that was with the MV1. But I am sensitive and had and issue with the silicone taste. When I try my air, argo, vapcap....and 1 single time my Elev8r....the vapor is too harsh/hot and I can not really tastes the true flavors of the flower.

I started my partaking carrier many moons ago with a 2 foot graphics binger and 100% real "out of the can" Maui Waui ! (any of you other old timers remember the cans). So using water is natural to me and a given.

So when I started vaping because my throat and lungs were in bad shape from restarting flowers after a decade off...vaping was a savior for me.

With water.....I can taste perfectly the spectrum of terps....without....nothing...just full on harshness in taste. How many others are like me?

Hey arb,

Not sure if you're still down to give it a shot, but if you want to preserve as much flavor as possible while still getting the benefits of conditioning, then use distilled water and only enough to cover the vents. That's how we've been told through feedback that works the best in situations like you describe. Cheers!

I usually use a water tool without water...I find it puts enough distance to cool the vapor down so I can take giant pulls. I find water does affect flavor some, but I have been using one of my water tools with water in it for days now. It's actually kind of gross now that I'm thinking about it. I find my glass is harder to clean when I use water with it. Especially when I do cbd dabs....I get blobs of reclaim underwater but stuck on glass as opposed to a thin and mostly even film covering the inside of the bubbler.
I use as little water as I can, but some water tools just require more water. Also, there does seem to be a difference if more or less water in how cool the vapor is. I have a tiny one that is a little flat beaker style, and I use it tilted with just enough water to cover the holes in the perc, and it does cut some warmth, but it's not as drastic as my taller bubbler that has more space between the perc and the bottom of the reseviour.

I use either but prefer dry these days!
I have a 12 inch tall tube that cools the vapor enough for massive hits.
If I use water it is just enough to cover the perc holes.
And then sometimes I will just add some water below the percs to trap any particles that make it through my mesh maze!

I never use water for my vapes. I use to be big on bong rips when i combusted. Now though, I do not run it through water. I hate having to pull deep and to clear the entire bong now really hurts my lungs.

I’m 50/50..water with my fp and dabs..but harder to do water on the go.

I only use water when I'm looking for massive size hits. Flavor is always reduced, but it makes those lung-busters easier.

For every-day use, I vape dry a lot more than I use water. But then again, I do like a bit of "throat bite" in my hits.

I can go either way. Tend to get bigger draws with bubblers and bongs. But I'm not sure if this is because of the water; empty glass pieces give big rips. Water definitely cools the vapor which is nice. Depending on the water piece flavor is changed more or less. Big thing for me is easy draw resistance either way.

Weak vaporizers and bongs/bubblers I avoid with water as they cant make milky draws, which is kinda the point for a bong I think.

Thanks for the information I always appreciate that.
I will probably switch to water when it become to uncomfortable dry as it obviously does make the vapor smoother.

I use the H2O mouthpiece on my Mighty, it's basically a vertical bubbler. Flavor is definitely reduced but it also makes it much easier to take big draws in quick succession without coughing so hard I feel like I'd throw up.

I'm interested in doing an iso wash to get the reclaim but it looks kind of gross and goopy compared to dry air pathways where it's more of an oil.

i like both, i have some portables and the Herborizer XL as my desktop unit and especially my Herbo builds a symbiosis with water filtration. I suppose that beside filtration and cooling, the water adds some humidity to the draw experience which makes it easier for our taste buds to absorb and perceive a richer spectrum? Sometimes i like to add some warm water because then the water evaporates easier and it feels more pleasant and tasty. Some of us might be more sensitive or suffer from cotton mouth more than others, reflecting the different preferences here. Having said that, i also like the harsher hits

I don't mind going through water but I don't do it often. I don't find it convenient. I don't like hauling a glass piece out along with a vape. I vape at my desk and I don't want a bong sitting around or the water. My log looks cool on the desk, a dynavap can be chillin in a pencil cup. The water tools are no good for me relaxing on the couch either. If there is a movie or show on I've desperately wanted to watch there is a really good chance I'm going to fall asleep in the first 1/2 hour and miss it, probably spill my bong too. When Vapehunter comes around and brings his super clean sparkly glass out it is enjoyable and I usually end up wondering why I don't do it more.

My desire for water hits vs dry hits is constantly shifting, one week I'll want my vapes hooked up to my water piece, the next week I'll want my hits to have the kick and flavor that only dry hits can offer. It's sort of like a "grass is greener" syndrome.

I definitely enjoy using water more often than not! It was not always like that though. I was using a 1.5 foot, beaker base bong for a very long time. It worked well with my CF, but I always noticed there was a certain "kick" that I was not getting. I recently got a VapCap and immediately noticed a distinct lack in potency while running it through this bong. I went and bought a much smaller bong (it's a dab rig that I further rigged with the fat mouth piece hahaha), and now there isn't a huge difference in potency or flavor. I think the primary problem with the beaker base is the quantity of water, which I infer provides more surface area for that sweet beep beep to get lost.

I may have picked the wrong crowd for that last line, but hey my first post!

....i use to vape primarily through h2o with desktops... but lately i've been hitting them dry...

...i've never used any portable vape through water- kind of defeats the purpose imo, being 'out-n-aboot'... however, saying that, if i'm in the mood at home i will hit a vapcap through water in the backyard on occasion...


...i always dab with minimal water, i went through a small phase where i didn't, but i have since then reverted back to water...

I usually use warm water, but when my mood changes I hit the Supreme v3 dry using the Vapolution All in wonder bowl. Outside on the go is always dry while inside I enjoy changing up my vaping with various setups both dry and wet, but mostly wet.

Only recentely got my first bong, so im in a honeymoon phase and using it with all my vapes. But its certainly easier to go dry.

I like through water as its less harsh on the throat, but clouds feel much denser direct from the vape

Would I be far off from thinking that younger people with fresher inner body parts can handle dry rig use better...while we "more experienced" people tend to like the water because of the battle damage on the ol' pipes and air bags?

Maybe I should of had a poll as well. Like showing age groups and water rig vs dry rig use.

Nah... I know people in their 40's who still smoke the stuff and don't even use water. Thats considered old, right?
