Will vaping be tolerable for my throat?

Hey guys,

I've read a few threads on this about people saying use a bubbler and other people saying that made it worse. Someone suggested inhaling to much air with the vapour was the cause.
I read these threads all the way through

My problem is I have a condition that has given me constant viral infections and as a result my throat is a mess.

Up till now i've been a very casual social smoker with no vaping use whatsoever but i'm moving to my own place and would like things to be more personal as well as social. D:

Anyway my main problem is that the last 3 times i've tried to smoke ANYTHING my tonsils have swollen up and this either goes up passing into my sinus causing an infection [sinus infection are insane] or down into my chest.

I can't even have a couple of light tokes.

I have a feeling it's because i have ramped up the social smoking from 4 sessions a year to 1 a month. Also I caned my friends nicotine e-cig and it really did a number on my throat worse then rolling tobacco, I won't touch it now.

I was wondering if vaping will be tolerable for me on a regular basis? [once a night or so].
If anyone can weigh in it'll be awesome because i'm scared of buying a vaporiser and not being able to use it.

I have one friend with an Arizer who said i could try it out if we all meet up some time [it's a new social group for me] but i don't want to be pushy.

I've been looking at a few vapes that interest me. Any thoughts will be cool I won't hold you to anything. P:
I know you can't give medical advice and I will be seeing an ENT soon but obviously i can't discuss this with them.
Really appreciate it. This could be a great way to control my pain levels too...

Vaporizing is much less irritating to the throat than smoking but hot vapor can still irritate your throat. Cooling the vapor through water would be ideal for a sensitive throat (I was able to tolerate vaporizing with a bubbler through a recent bout of Strep Throat). If possible you should definitely meet up with the friend that has the Arizer and try it out before investing in a vaporizer of your own.

You are definitely on the right path looking into vaporizers for medicating, hopefully it is the right solution for you.

Thanks I appreciate it,
I was looking at a plenty or a mighty and their obviously not cheap. The cooling coil on the plenty is supposed to do a decent job + the minimal upkeep and cleaning, less digital bits to go wrong, doesn't have much of a learning curve, cheaper price.

Unfortunately the mighty is more portable [i'm only looking to stick it in a bag and take it over to someones house not sneak vape in public].

Also I don't have smart phone so crafty is only semi-functional, no personal access to the app.

I find joints help with my CFS symptoms but the carcinogens do a real number on me, I feel poisoned like a huge hangover but this is common with this condition. Thanks for your replies I'll check back tomorrow.

I'd find a way to get with this new friend and try out their arizer first just to make sure you can use a vape with no problems before buying one if your problems are so severe.

better to know before you buy one I would think.

Probably starting at a very low temperature in the beginning. As others have stated it is much less irritating than smoking cannabis. Good advice from my friend @RUDE BOY as always about trying one out first. You are right the Mighty and the Plenty arent cheap. You don't need to spend big bucks for a good vaporizer that fits your needs. There are several on the market under $300.

You want a vaporizer that's easy to use since you are just starting out. I don't have either of the 2 vaporizers you mentioned above. It looks like you have been doing your homework reading up on some vaporizers.

Good luck with your throat issues - you have come to the right place if you want to find out about vaporizing. A lot of knowledgable folks.

:myday:hook it up to bong/bubbler or hyrdatube of course this depends on which vape you have or are purchasing. I have a extreme q at the moment and always have my bong hooked up

Thanks for the great response everyone.
I'm not really looking for peripherals or desktops, more of a large portable or handheld that I can enjoy at home but also sling into a bag to take to a mates.

Also i'm not sure about bongs i'm more a joint guy, I don't really smoke to get smashed or wrecked more to chill out and be able to do stuff, also my tolerance is really low which is another perk of having cfs. Also with the peripherals would prefer minimal cleaning, set up and packing away.

I'm thinking low temps might be fine majority of the time, apparently it wastes but with my tolerance it shouldn't matter. I'm tempted by the firefly but i'd rather get something simpler for my first time, if your going to pay £200 might as well pay an extra £60 for the mighty.

I read on a review that the arizer air is a bit scratchy on the throat? Are their any vapes that stand out in this way?

What are thoughts on the summit and the alfa, I was looking at the alfa which has a vertical pin that gives it an even burn, vape fiend rated it highly but comments on utube are unfavourable.

I also heard the pax is not highly rated by experienced vapers, it's super popular but they look down on it?

maybe try the magic flight box. if your not a big hitter and get irritation easily. its handheld and portable. Downside imo would be it is its battery operated and you will need to have the spare batteries charged as they take a while to fully charge. it comes with the the battery charger. Others will have their own opinions just pick something that appeals to you.

It depends on the temperature you use. I vape at 185C and do not need anything. My throat does not get dry. Only 20 minutes after my sesh. A glass of water always helps but I use to drink water as I smoked joints or bongs anyways.

I have a Summit but I don't think that is the vape for you, @eskimo_rising. It has a pretty wide opening on the mouthpiece so the vapor can get hot on higher temps. It can be mitigated some by using a cover screen over your material and you can stick to only low temps. But as of yet there are no water adapters cuz of the shape which is not round. From everything you say, it sounds like you would want the Mighty. I don't have one but people say the vapor is cooler than most.

There is no way to tell if your are going to tolerate it or not, just too many variables. Get with your repository doctor and get their input they have the degrees and access to your medical records.

I agree that there's no way to tell. Some vaporizers are harsher than others. Trying the Arizer would be a great idea.
I stopped smoking everything- tobacco and marijuana- over 20 years ago. Just being around smoke would leave me coughing and with nasal congestion for days. I used to have to walk through an AA meeting to get to my office and was sick for days. That still happens if I take a hit from anything other than a vaporizer.
I find using a bubbler helps with some of the vapes I own. The Arizer is one that I can use without water if it's on a cooler setting.
