Will using a chipped DBV Wand damage the Heater Cover?

I noticed a week ago that my wand chipped on the side that touches the heater cover. Can this damage the ground glass in the heater cover? The chip is smooth mostly but the little white crack line keeps getting longer and longer. I already have a new wand but I wanted to keep using this one so the wand hash can cake over more. What should I do?

Lost in Thought
I would say do your reclaim now on that wand and scrap it. While you might not notice any difference functionality wise, the mere fact that you have a crack (that is growing no less) means that you have glass that is coming off in the process. It looks as if you only have a matter of time before you completely lose that wand either because it breaks cleanly or breaks with lots of little shards.

Either way, its MUCH easier (and safer) to reclaim (and use) from a wand thats as close to whole as possible.

In laymans terms - scrap it.

I think it'll be inevitable that it'll crack further and further because of the heat and forces it is exposed to. How quick it'll go is hard to say. I would start using the new wand if I were you and save this one in case of an emergency. Think of it this way, the sooner you'll start using the new one, the sooner you'll have a nice layer of wandhash on it too.
