Wilfred - TV comedy (vaporizer mentioned)

Anyone checked this show yet, which is on FX on Thursday nights? It's a remake (sort of) of an Australian show of the same name, about a psychologically messed-up guy who sees the cute girl-next-door's dog as a man in a cheap dog suit (although in the original it belongs to his girlfriend, who he has moved in with).

It stars Elijah Wood (Frodo from Lord Of The Rings) and Jason Gann as Wilfred the dog, who has reprised his role from the original. As Wilfred, Gann plays him as a dog-like human, who talks, drinks beer, smokes (both cigarettes and weed) and encourages Ryan (Wood) to let go of his hang-ups and change his ways. It's very surreal and absurdist, and doesn't make the mistake of bothering too much with sticking to any kind of internal logic.

And in the most recent episode, he asks Ryan to "buy me a new bong, or better yet, a vaporizer" (woohoo).


PS As an Australian and a fan of the original, I can say that while it has been altered for the US audience, the fact that they have kept Gann in the role of Wilfred (who invented the character, and was the best thing about the original) means that it feels more like a third season of Wilfred rather than a remake in the normal sense.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that Cheryl Shuman, who heads the NORML Womans Alliance, was hired to be a medical marijuana consultant so that the show can hopefully get many of the minor and major details of the cannabis culture correct.

Still drives me crazy that Wilfred never clears his gatorade bottle bong, it's like that in the Australian version as well :/

My buddy always put it on at his house, the big dog suit threw me off.

But last night there was nothing on, so i put it on, and its pretty frickin funny. Alot of parts had me laughing out loud, which i hardly ever do.

I recommend it.

He needs a new smoking device tho, that gatorade bottle aint cutting it, esp cause he cant clear it, then he has the nerve to pass it! Bad Dog!!

I just starting watching it. It's right up my alley and hilarious! Thanks for the recommendation. FX has some pretty good shows now. Louie, Wilfred, Its always sunny... It's a good year for comedy. The new season of Curb starts tonight too!

being a fan of the aussie version, I was pleasantly suprised at how good the US version is.
Keeping the same guy as the dog was the key. great show great concept.

check out the aussie 2 seasons if you can, its pretty iconic stuff.

did I miss something? (possibly, was a torrent)

the last was Wilfred was at the vet not recognising ryan & he rushes home to the door to the attic & there was just a cupboard there and it just stopped.

was that it?? or did my torrent download miss the bit that made it make sense?

I think the whole point was that the ending was a joke on Lost and things just going to black at the end w/o explaining anything like how the basement where they would hang out and get high didn't even actually exist.

as an aussie, I must admit, the US version is a better written & performed product. (sorry Adam & Jason)
But the dog (Jason Gann), just keeps it so fucking cool like the aussie version. Elijah wood is amazing in his role he really did a great job.

Just be aware there is a bit (or a lot) of the dog in every australian you will meet.

now I guess you need to work out which bits i am refering to, provided there are some australians in your vicinity of course.

Loved the season, but so far if I had to choose I would say I prefer the Aussie version, it seems a bit darker and extreme at points. But that could change after season 2 of the US version.
