Why would someone NOT vape at the highest temperature?

I have a flowermate mini. I've been using it mostly on the medium temp setting, the other day I packed it totally full and vaped all of the contents on medium with a friend. The next day, instead of packing a new bowl, I just powered it up on the high temperature. To my surprise I had a huge session and got totally blasted...!

Now I wonder why I wouldn't always vape on high, seems like a waste of product no?

It's only a waste of product if you throw away your ABV. Why to not vape on high, is a personal preference.

Lots of people turn ABV into oils, edibles or tinctures.

working the way up from low temps and finishing on high is the way I like it when using a session type vape like a flowermate, I always end my sessions on High myself to get the most outta my meds via vaping alone since I don't save my AVB, I want it as spent as possible at sessions end.

Flavor is one factor, I like the toothsome flavors of many herbs at lower temperature versus high.

I cough a lot more easily at higher temps which may or may not be the experience I'm looking for at the time.

As I've now been vaping with minimal doses I aim for a medium brown finish; at this point the good flavors are gone and I'd rather save the remaining actives for baking.

I generally vape low temps. So my thoughts on why not high temp:

1. Ditto what @AegonT and @zor said about temps and throat/lung irritation
2. Different actives are extracted at low temp v. high temps. I like higher at bedtime, but even then I do not go crazy because of #1.
3. Ditto what @zor said about flavor.
4. Ditto @zor said about leaving abv more "active" for baking.

For me, it is mainly point #1, my lungs and throat cannot tolerate the high temps. I cannot imagine how I would react if I tried combusting again!

Different temperatures release different chemical compounds. Using the vape at different temperatures allows you to achieve different effects.

My E-Nano can go all the way up to combustion temperatures without a problem. In the beginning I was cranking up the temps and getting massive clouds, getting SUPER baked. But I almost started to get "sick" of the high temperature vaping. I didn't like the effects.

As I've experimented over the past two years, I've found that I benefit more from low temperature vaping. For me, I don't vape at night to sleep. I vape early in the day to get me going. In fact vaping at night keeps me up for a while.

The fun part about vaporizing is discovering what works best for your body. The Flowermate doesn't get that hot. Just wait and see how medicated you get at 445F, you might not like it.

I stay clear of the 400f range when im vaping on my Heaven vaporizer. I usually keep it around 370-385f for the first cook then il stir it and blast it again at 420-430 for a couple minutes to get the last of the cannabanoids out of my herbs, but for the most part i stay on lower temps. Since i started vaping ( wasnt too long ago 2 1/2 months now) i have been dropping the temperature down from 439f which is the highest my Heaven goes. I soon dropped down to 400 and then to 380. My lungs cant handle the heat as well anymore and leaves my lungs very irritated. thats why I personally dont use higher temps. Also i feel the flavor is better on the lower side of the temp.

Different cannabinoids and terpenes boil off at different temperatures -- so by adjusting temp you can tailor the effect. Also, benzene, a carcinogenic hydrocarbon, happens around 400F, so you can avoid that and probably other nasties by staying lower.

I think the major reasons would be avoiding benzene and for taste. For my insomnia I pretty much have to use higher temps on my nighttime meds but am considering switching to concentrates for that to avoid the higher temps. Though, I think I read somewhere that benzene isnt necessarily produced while vaping and that combustion is necessary for benzene to be produced but I wanna do more research on that before I just say screw it and vape everything high temps all the time, cause I feel like I'm missing out on a little bit of goodness if I don't roast it on high.

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
I thought the concensus was that when you hit 205c toxins were released.

I do not go beyond 200c.
Then save AVB for budder and eds.

Well several reasons:

1. AVB is so far gone cannot be used for anything.
2. Some do not like the high at such a high temperature. My vape goes to 215C, I've never vaped that high. I've vaped at 204-210C but did not enjoy the high. I prefer 190C.
3. Higher temperatures are closer to combustion in which people try to avoid.

But I like it!
Try ultra low temps some time - you can just taste the herb, and all of a sudden you know it's working. Some vapes are made to temp surf. The MV is super fun to go through the 4 settings and get a different effect on each. And for giggles tonight I'm on my 3rd red (highest temp) bowl and quite enjoying it after a long break.
