who likes metal music?

I've always liked metal, it seems many of the members who have already posted have excellent taste.

Black Metal is my favorite metal, Burzum, Fronsturm, Ad Hominem, Goatmoon are all very good bands.

Great thread for me I like what used to be considered metal but most metal nowadays I haven't heard of unless my son turns me onto it. I only know about 1/2 the bands Steiner listed too so I'll be looking up some of the others.

Went to Mayhem Fest last weekend and saw Megadeath & Godsmack but by today's standards...they're not really metal ROFL! Man I feel old

Thanks to my son I have some Rammstein & Lamb of God in my car at the moment oh and some Dethklok from some cartoon show he turned me onto that I really enjoy. My husband HATES IT!! ROFL!

I went to the into the grave festival last weekend, first year the festival is held, small and most work done by volunteers, held in the citycenter of leeuwarden, last year the local government said the permit wasn't going to go trough at the last moment, they used arguments like that there wasn't enough police available for securirty etc(while a week before a dancefestival was held there with much more vistors and probably more prone to problems as with metal)
but luckily it could continue this year, and they had a nice rule that if you handed in 20 empty cups, you got a free consumption coin, so I had my first 3 beers for free, after that I stopped collecting cups(it just tastes better when it's free )

when they searched me at the entrance and I said that what I had in my pockets were my cellphone, pipe and wallet, they asked if I had any drogs with me
no, just some hash I replied
I took it out of my pocket, gave it to him, he showed it to his colleaggue next to him and I got it back from him and was free to enter
also met and smoked with a cool dude there that had a bong with him

I listen to lots of BM too mostly post/shoegaze stuff lately. Agalloch, Heretoire, Alcest, Amesoeurs, Woods of Ypres, Drudkh, The Mourningside...

Big thrash fan here! The faster the better! Exodus are my favourite band but I also listen to lots of genres of metal from the early stuff like Sabbath to modern djent bands and lots more in between. Tony Iommi is the Godfather. I don't agree with what was said earlier about Dio era Sabbath being better, Heaven and Hell is a great album but I just didn't dig anything after that.

I've been doing this ritual for years where I listen to at least one entire Sabbath album every Sunday. It's the Sabbath day after all

do you prefer nsbm for the music or the lyrical content? just curious, not here to pass judgment.

i like all kinds of metal. classic stuff like maiden, manowar, mercyful fate. other stuff including enslaved, burzum, bloodrain, krallice, some thrash. not into much death metal outside of death, old deicide, cryptopsy. one kind of metal i DO NOT like is east coast death metal. breakbeats in my metal? no thanks.

slayer is my popular favorite but i listened to lots when younger and still do on occasion. i tune in to just about every sort of music genre there is, really depends on my mood and activity.

I rather like Heathen Metal (Hammerfall, Tyr, etc.).

I also like a bit of AC/DC ... well, they are more acid rock than metal...

I have very eclectic taste. Oh, and I also LOVE this.
