Great Scott!
I'd like to get the Google Asus nexus tab when they announce it at the end of this month.

Currently have an OG Droid X, rooted with an ICS rom. It's about a year and a half old and it's just about ready to die, so I think I'm going to upgrade to the Razr Maxx either today or tomorrow.

Anybody else waiting for Razr HD?

Wow I'm surprised Anroid topped the list. I admire all the features of android phones but it seems like battery life sucks for all of them. My fathers Galaxy S II Skyrocket is amazing but he's a slave to the charger. The iPhone4 has the best battery life I've experienced in a smartphone. I must say after seeing just about everyone with an iPhone, I might look into an Android phone this fall.

here for the chicks
I've had the chance to try out several different Android phones and most of them need a recharge after 40 hours or so with my use. But I travel a bit too, and since I don't have a data plan abroad I always turn off data communication except for wife when I'm out of the country and that makes a huge difference. I've seen stand-by time jump up from two days to as much as ten days!

Android battery life depends largely on the use pattern and particular phone. With one android on stock software and MY usage I'd get like 8 hours before a charge was needed. Then using the same phone but rooted and on a custom rom using the same usage pattern I'd get over 20 hours. Amazing! That is why open software is important IMO and unlocked bootloaders are a must.

If you do that, it voids the warranty. My husband needs to send his phone back for repairs, and HTC warned us that if it has been modded in anyway, it will not be covered and sent right back.

I worked in wireless telecom technical support for nearly 10 years. Starting with a nokia 5190 and many phones later i use a HTC Amaze 4g (4.0ICS) and a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (3.2 honeycomb) combo. I love them both and are my two fave wireless devices to date. Used to be a windows user...had the orignal pocket pc phone edition, MDA and Wing....until windows phone 7 ruined that. Now im pretty much stuck on android. Their ease of use and flexability are what attracted me to them. Galaxy S 3 just came out and seems like the new hottness!

just orrdered one. is it as awesome as everyone says?

Sorry I Didn't see that earlier. I simply love it , smartstay function is not perfect but it's ok. It's incredibly fast ( to boot and to run apps and ICS. The form factor is perfect for me and i just couldn't go with a smaller screen now because it's so comfortable

True but if you have the skill to root it then you can easily flash it back to stock. Out of all my 10+ smart phones only 1 iPhone needed to be replaced under warranty.

Don't you think they could tell it had been rooted, even though it has been flashed back to stock?

Supposedly not. I haven't had to try but that is the overwhelming consensus on the android forums. I really enjoy rooting and modifying phones and see tons of real life improvement, basically the only way I don't think it would be worth the "risk" is if it was a dedicated work phone. Otherwise I've had a perfect success rate. They have good guides and simple tools are common too.

HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon. Will be switching over to Sprint to be on my wife's plan but I am very frustated at their selection on Androids. Ill most likely just settle for their HTC EVO 4G , which is BS since they havent switched all the way to 4G in most of their coverage area.

If you are frustrated by their phones wait until you try the service :/

I highly suggest the galaxy nexus for sprint by the way.

What was the question, again?
Currently have the HTC Rezound. If the 4G antenna functioned properly, I'd have no problem with this phone.

Going to be upgrading to either a Galaxy 3 or iPhone 5 whenever it's available. Probably the Galaxy 3 since I'll be able to upgrade before the iPhone 5 is released...

I have a mobile made of diamond... ...okay, at least as sturdy :D Nokia 6300 (brown). I can see it outlasting me. Full metal case - indestructible. And you're calling this engineering miracle dumb...

I'd have tried it if they didn't lock the bootloader on verizon!

I know it sucks. i like alot of the motion features that the phone has stock though. i dont think id want to have the phone without them. i would but i love them.

it runs really well stock with apex launcher. aill probably be changing my tune in a few months though. hopefully jellybean comes over to the galaxy and itll curb my need for something to tweak

So I rooted my phone this morning, then promptly turned it into a brick.

Gonna go down to VZW when they open and probably get the Galaxy S 3. Still doing some research, but it will likely be the GS3..
