Which Kind Of Cellphone Do You Use?

haha, I'm the no cellphone guy!
Well I do have an old one of my partners to use, but I haven't used it in seriously about 3 months. It's an ancient brick of a thing that doesn't even have a camera (I used to have a better one, but it died). I live in a glen with no signal reception except on the hilltops, and have to go almost 5 miles by road before I get connected, and normally work from home, so I kind of gave up with it. No one bothers to call me on it any more as it's never on- I can only be reached by email or land line- and it's just in the car for in the case of emergencies. That makes me feel really old (I'm not!). I'll have to move soon enough for my career back to civilisation, and I'm sure things will change then.
Funnily enough I don't really miss having one at all (I've only lived here for almost 2 years now), but when I had one I felt it vital.

I think they are a BIG WASTE OF MONEY for the data plan, and it is such a scam, but besides that aspect I enjoy the phone..
also, i have mine "rooted" so I can use my phone as a wifi hotspot and do other cool things that verizon would hate me for. muwahaha

I've rooted several android phones on different roms and jailbroken apple iphones. Just in my nature to tinker. I love my data plan since I am on the unlimited 4g. I hardly use any minutes, just text and data!

I own an older non-smartphone, only need it to call and text, camera is nice but not necessary(camera on my pjone makes ok pics too). and at least I can drop my phone from the stairs and nothing's wrong with it.
my prepaid-credit also lasts for ages, it's not uncommon that I have to buy new credit to prevent it from getting frozen, not because I didn't have any credit left

I used to not feel right when i didnt have my phone. It was like withdrawal symptoms or something. I decided to get rid of it about a year ago and i love it. Real friends kept in touch and everythings good. I love not having a phone.

how do you guys feel about jail breaking while we are on the subject. I could never get cydia to work flawlessly on my iphone.

As mentioned, jaibreaking allows for use of 3rd party apps and I've used Cydia for little tweaks and doo-dads to keep me amused
Also used Cydia to get Installous & Hackulous so I can at least try apps before buying them, because the App Store reviews suck monkey balls
ps: havn't had ANY issues with Jailbreaking at all myself

Blackberry - need to view/send my business emails when out and about but don't really want to spend every spare minute pissing about browsing or using apps so the blackberry suits me.
Also only have one BBM contact (my wife) so if I hear the depth charge noise i've assigned to BBM I know it's her (and can ignore it).

If it was a nexus phone I'd be selling my galaxy nexus to upgrade. I like the specs, but to me software is more important in the long run. EVERYONE develops good stuff for nexus devices.

yeah they get the official updates first. The GSIII will also get great development too.
Touchwiz added some nice features that wont be available on ROMs though (from my understanding anyway). I could live wihtout the motion controls and stuff but theyre also useful features.

I'm still using the first gen 7" Galaxy Tab, I don't think I'll replace it for another year. It's of course very large for a phone, but it's awesome as an internet/multi-media device when I'm on the road.
