What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?

Just another "Person Of Interest"
I used to get the flint from dead Bic lighters to feed my old Zippo if I had no access to the Zippo Flint Wheel Magazine.

Rescued Bic flints are awesome! Those things last like forever!

I've got one in my original IMCO Triplex 6700 made in Austria that's been in there for WEEKS with no signs of failing yet!
Score one for "Recycling"! lol

Well, I just finished reading "most" of this thread. (took me about four days on and off I reckon)

So much great knowledge & sharing, from many different folk. (Did I mention it took like four days)

Enough of that, I do have a question regarding lighters.

Some lighters have caps/covers over the flame housing, other lighters go without one.

What are the pros and cons of the two different types/styles.

I don't do auto-opening. I will only will deal with a torch with a cap is if I can flip it open or closed on it's own, completely disconnected with the ignition of the flame.

Now that we've cleared that up...Yes, caps/covers help hold back pocket lint from becoming a problem.
Also, yes, caps covers will break off eventually unless you have a high-quality expensive torch (not all expensive torches are high-quality, but high-quality torches tend to be pricey).
And no, you probably won't have much of a pocket lint problem often once the cap/cover breaks off/gets lost...and you won't miss it.

Triple flames in action, plenty of heating power, works well outdoors.

Fuel tank 3/4 full, it's on the small side. Top up before leaving the house. I use 5 x filtered butane. Doesn't need bleeding every refill.

The cap/cover is spring loaded and pops open when the trigger is pressed. Problem is... now that it's had some use, it's become worn/misaligned and pops open at random in your pocket.

Overall, it's an ok lighter, it fires up first click 95% of the time. Easy to adjust. Ive had it for about 6 months. The cap issue does annoy me though.

Any lighter horror stories out there?

Don't have any myself, but was looking at lighters on Aliexpress and after reading some of the comments/reviews on certain lighters, it made me think to be careful about which lighters I would purchase.

Bought in Castorama. I wouldn't call it "favorite" but it has one big advantage - it works.

I didn't find much information about this one, anyone can recommend? I like it because of small size, magnetic housing (i would put a magnet on it) and cool design. But how about heating? So far I was using only single flame torches (I heard they are best for "skilled" vapcap users), this one has two crossing torches and someone said (not sure which topic it was) that it heats cap pretty slowly. I'm also worried about fuel tank, looks like i would be able to do only few heating cycles before it's empty.

Dig my zplus! Since I almost exclusively use my dynavaps for hash I appreciate a slower heat for thick hits. It's definitely faster than a single, but probably not twice as fast. I do keep mine turned pretty low to conserve gas,so you could get quicker clicks.

The tank is small. If you're going out for the day and only plan on a quick cap here and there (out of the wind) it'll see you through. Anything more intense,I'd bring a back-up.

Sticks onto the stash, which is handy. Good quality too,has outlasted a few other torches. I should probably get a few more:brow:

View of the lid/cover which is also the on/off switch. Replacement flints can easily be fitted as needed.

Single flame in action, it's a small flame which gives precise temperature control. Sheltered or indoor use only.

Positives - I really enjoy using this lighter, its small, easy to use, it looks fantastic, feels solid, very well priced when purchased from China.

Negatives - It has a small tank approx 8 minute run time, which can mean frequent gas refills, small flame means heat up times for some butane powered vapes takes longer.

I love my Honest quad desk lighter. The tank is huge and the lid flips up to ignite. I like to rest the tip on the lid as I twirl the Vapcap.

Hi Squiby hope you are good girl. I always liked the way the Vertigo Quad torch heated my Vapcap.

This one which we have linked looks interesting and I'm sure I remember you showing us this before unless I'm mistaken but I couldn't see it in the product listing- when you ignite the flame do you have to keep the button pressed down or does it have a lock feature where you can easily Lee turn the flame on and off, without needing two hands the whole time, one to hold the button down and of course one to spin the Vapcap?

It would likely interest me if I knew I could keep a free hand, I can't see me being comfortable having to keep both arms extended over the the torch at all times.

Hi @Alexis!
The Honest quad desk lighter requires two hands to operate and twirl a Vapcap. The ignition button must remain manually depressed to keep the flame. Alas, there is no locking feature. :(
