What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?

Hi guys. I think I lost another delivery from China... the last. I've decided to invest more than the usual 3-4$ and looking at Vertigo models, dual flame... Valet or Razor..? Anyone knows them? Durability, reliability... ManyThanks

Hello, I want to purchase a good multiple flame jet lighter for this sale on DV site. Which one do you suggest me? Thank you!

Hi! There are many at this moment on Dynavap eh..? Not an easy pick. But the quantity of flames is the first step to make the decision I guess. I like the double because is fast but also precise, and give me the choice to heat the cap precisely to acquire different results. Don't know if a triple or quad gives the same freedom... I don't have one anyway.

I gave up ordering directly from china vendors for lighters. I got about 50% of them and had to get paypal to refund me for several. They even suggested that I might want to use other vendors... ;)

Mostly Ebay or Amazon these days. Tho I shouldn't NEED any anytime soon. That is at least a contributing factor in not ordering more, but not an indication that I won't.

TAS is TAS.

Apparently I have 27 posts in this thread. How many indicates a problem?

I have the same problem with the vertigo triple too. I tried cleaning all the jets with a dry qtip but it didn't help any.
Maybe one...or two. No one out of the box anyway?
I purchased two of these lighters and both have stopped working after a few weeks.
I have one (the one, currently..) of those unpocketable ones and has now 2 years of regular use...

Well... I'll close my eyes and pick...

I got a colibri triple flame recently and when I went to fill it I could not get it to fill more then a 1/4 of the way. I tried bleeding it first and no air escaped, got tired of trying to get it filled more and used it. Today it ran outta gas I bleed it then put butane in it and this time it fills full this time.

Tldr; don't freak out if new lighter don't fill all the way use what you get in it and next time it should fill all the way

Uh! Got my chinese delivery, when I was loosing hope, after 60 days...

New favorite: quick and windproof. And without weak parts like the ones with spring closure...

It's sturdy! And stealthy, since all the others I tried has this noisy springed button...

T.A.S. T.A.S. T.A.S...Probably my next one...

And waiting for a Veritgo Razor (that costs 4-5 times these ones)... I'll report back in 1 year for my winner... :)

dudes, can someone help me out?
I see barely nothing in dark areas and have this qustion:
Does someone know a jet lighter with a small torch attached to it?

Idea is:
press the button, jet ignites and torch lights up - and vice versa.
The LED should be placed in a way that the vapcap hovering over it is lit so that I can see it better.

Please link me to one :)
bonus point if it is a ergonomic design..

I just realized I can use my Portasol Superpro 125 soldering iron without the tip as a jet lighter,
Built in stand too

And a cover you can put on while hot

I have owned and used often for years and never had a problem, I could possibly use the heat shrink tip as well for lower temp experiments

The Xikar Stratosphere is a jet lighter that has a very bright flame. It illuminates the Vapcap and the immediate area surrounding it. I've used it outside in the dark and inside a camping tent. The only problem I've had with this lighter is the flame is very hot - it can become too hot to ignite for 20+ seconds that the higher temp hits can be difficult. The lighter itself is durable and had a hard rubberized plastic body so I've dropped it several times and it works fine. I can give you more details if you'd like but it terms of illumination this one is bright enough that it's not particularly discreet.

What about rubber banding a tiny flashlight to your torch of preference? Fenix E05 is pretty darn small. Looks like the only snag is a lot of lights powered by 1 x AAA cell use a twist switch to turn the light on.

I used one of these torch lighters a couple years ago, igniter did not last very long, so get a couple as they are dirt cheap.

So far, I like the Vertigo Triple In-Line that Dynavap used to sell more than any other I've tried. One very similar to this:

My Vertigo like this just broke with half its original butane left.

Do you think this one (located in China) is the bad copy of @steama one (located in US), and here's the reason for the even lower price? It has no logo, but apart from that I can't see differences from the pictures I can compare... Starting from the fact that chinese industry rules in this field (and I'm not saying it's bad, they simply rule. "Designed in whateverplaceoftheworld" and "Assembled in China"), this is something I always think about when searching for electronic gadgets and such: if I pay it double I am paying for the original quality? Or at contrary, when I get the best price I am getting the fake one... or I'm making the deal..? How many quality levels for components are out there to produce, apparently, the same thing?

ander,
I just got 3 new lighters in today's mail. :)

I would recommend against the 2 Eagle models I bought. One is the table top model and the other is the pen model. Both work well and have nice large tanks but the "lock" button does not lock the flame ON. It just locks the trigger so the trigger can not be pressed. Simply a safety feature. Bummer.

The other is Aomai table top model with dual or single flame (selectable). I do like this one so far but this is my first dual flame lighter and I am noticing that I don't get as good a hit with the dual flame lighter. It does heat up faster but (and, maybe that's the reason) I definitely get better hits from using the single flame than I do using the dual flame.

Aomai (albeit, this one's appearance may not appeal to everyone). https://www.ebay.com/itm/Double-Fla...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

@ander - here is the same even cheaper on ebay ;) and i second @steama a good quality triple for that price, in comparison to the hongjing triple cheapo definitive worth the 1,50€ more .

@Used2use how long have you owned that Jobon? My last purchase was a three pack of the Vertigo triple torch lighters and they break after not much use.

It's strange to me that there aren't good options to spend a bit more for a quality triple torch, double triple or whatever. Searching Amazon and eBay yields nothing but cheap junky lighters and any reviews online are just monetized click lists for the same ones.

Wish I'd gotten on the @Pipes induction heater back in December when I first learned about it.

Double Triple Quadruple jet lighter ftw.
See were this is going?

serious question: is there a study behind heat-delvery:flame count + nozzle size !?

I'm surprised to hear folks devoted to single flame torch lighters. I have some and they take too long for my liking. Like doing my best to heat evenly and my finger is getting tired and I start wondering if I missed the click. Of course triples are louder so even more risk of not hearing. I had to cut my VapCap session short last night when my last Vertigo broke.

@bossman i bought 2 of them from 2 different vendors maybe 6month ago during a serious TAS attack
I bought almost every decent looking lighter under 4€ on ebay  - so to be honest the usage has been spread out over a few (or more) torches, but one of those jobon triple gets decent usage sitting in my bicycle bag and holds up well so far.
In my experience sometimes a different branding sticker on same looking torches can make a difference, but even the exact same looking and branded torches can be different quality/durability (guess different factorys/charges) - so ordering from different vendors is a good idea.

As i've got a good overview over different torches now - the most important feature to me is how easy the flame size can be adjusted, and this is most convenient/precise if the whole bottom part can be turned imo. Just like at the Jobon triple - there is also a decent single torch from jobon that adjusts the same way...
