Was it a Shelby Gt Cobra? Fuckin love that car! I hear it's sketchy as shit to drive like them older vipers though. I have seen at least 2 vipers wrecked one tried to wrap itself around a pole 
Mine would be when I was teen a drove my buddies dads 68 SS Camaro that thing was a Beauty and a Beast. Would do donuts like it was ice skating. My buddy got in HUUUUGE trouble for driving his dad's car when I was with him once. He kept trying to deny he drove the car til his dad reached underneath the wheel well and smacked his white tee shirt with a handful of melted of rubber..,... I decided to make a hasty exit at the point in time

I believe the one you're taking about was based on the Mustang. The one I drove was based in the AC Bristol. Looked exactly like this one:
Car had an all aluminum body. Really light. If your pressed hard on the body with your thumb, you could leave a dent. Pre-carbon fiber.
And you're right. Really sketchy to drive. All muscle, no finesse.
They used to advertise the car this way......."Zero to a hundred back to zero again in less than 10 seconds.", and this was in 1965 !!

A 1986 ford mustang svo. It was a 4 cylinder turbo that was factory built to take on the big dogs on road courses. With a few upgrades you can reach more than 400 hp. The car was a rocket ship with unbelievable handling.
Faves for me were both Lamborghinis. Both at a pay-to-drive event. Gotham Dream car sprint. One was a Gallardo and the other was a Gallardo Superleggera. Wow! Amazing cars. There was a "coach" there with me. On the second lap he said " Slam the gas to the floor and don't let up until I say..." The straightaway got short real quick. Then he says rapid fire "ok, let off, BRAKE, turn right, HARDER, PUNCH IT!" Holy crap, what a ride. Too much fun!

Don't know about Lambo's but my sisters ex had a Ferrari. At 6'2", I was cramped in there like sardines in a can. No headroom at all and the peddles were way too tiny for my size 12 and half feet. I felt like I was driving a car meant for little people.
But ahhhhh.............the sound of those 12 cylinders was soul stirring.
Haha I hear ya there. I'm not that tall and one was a Spyder convertible, so plenty headroom. BUT I do have size 12 feet. The foot room was lacking.

Still loved all of my motorcycles more. Something about them. So much cheaper and just as fast or faster. Of course hard to use it to its potential (legally and safely) on the street. I did take the slowest (top speed wise) to the track. Wish I would have taken the RSV Mille to the track, though I would have probably crashed.
I have ridden in some convertibles/open top cars (like the cobra) and they came pretty close to matching the feel of a motorcycle. Mostly just the older cars though, as they have more feel than newer stuff.

Yup. No electronic assists or injectors. Just good ole' carburetors and muscle.
Loved my bikes as well. All English two cylinders: Norton Commando, Triumph Bonneville TT Special and a BSA Lightening Rocket.

That heel-toe brake/gas peddle can reek havoc on the day to day driver. If you have a normal sized foot like a 9 or 10 you're screwed. Let alone a size 12.

Most fun - my older brother's 280Z - geez that had to be late 70's I think. Drove it around Philly and I don't think I ever got out of second gear. If my brother new that was the first time I ever drove a stick he would have beat the piss out of me. My wife has a 2011 Mustang convertible (I have the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with two square feet of paint left) it's my dream car but it's still not as much fun as my brother's Z to me for some reason.
Favorite was a new, no bell's and whistles, Dodge Caravan...fit my ass perfectly. Plenty of zip but the captain's chairs and wide angle view were like sitting in a comfy chair in front of the TV...could drive that thing forever without a break. Drove 15 hours straight on a trip from Jersey to Florida.
Had bikes as well...first was an old Honda 750 back in 70's-king/queen seat, 3 inch extension, highway pegs and pull back handle bars...smooth like a babies butt..just couldn't get it past 80. Could sit on it for hours. Borrowed a Sporty for a few weeks back then and hated it cause it vibrated like a washing machine. 1 hour and my back was killing me. Picked up an 850 Yamaha back in 90's for next to nothing. Thing had so much off-the-line torque it was crazy.

My first muscle car was 65 Mustang Coupe with SB 302, big intake valves, 4 speed and open exhaust, No carpet, no back seat, light as it can go.... It was not pretty but it was fast.
Craziest thing I ever drove was a 64 impala with a 409 and dual turbos running somewhere around 1200hp, but it was a customers, so I never got to beat it.
Nowadays my tastes have changed and I am all about getting big power out of the inline 6 imports. Huge torque monsters, good economy, Tons of boost.... ppshhhheeeeeet!!!
Someday I will build one of these.

I had a '67 mustang convertible with a 289 in it, I fixed up the suspension it was a pretty fun drive. But by far the most fun I ever had driving a car was my friend's mom's porsche 928 sc 5-speed. Just an audi engine but really light, nimble and quick. I drove a 944 and old and new corvettes that didn't come close for pure fun. I would have to say that 2nd place was my mom's honda civic si, I ruined that thing but it was fun.

I've had two cars that were damn fun. My first looked a lot like this except the roof was gold too.
It was a great car and I had tons of fun driving it. Fast as hell too. One of those cars I wish I had never gotten rid of...

But, the car I had the most fun in was probably this one. Damn thing was a POS though. If there was a quarter size piece of ice and one tire was on it I was stuck. But I learned how to burn rubber in this car and I still remember the thrill of hopping down the street; tires screaming.

Yes! I had a KTM 625 smc (the bike I took to the track). Loved that thing. Probably my favorite bike for anything but riding long distances, especially above 60 or so mph. The roads around here are always under construction, so it was perfect as opposed to the sportbikes I had.

Fucking Stangs. I guess they still didn't fix it in '78. My first wife and I bought a '64 when they first came out. Great little car except when it rained. When the streets got wet, I'd have to load up the trunk with sand bags to keep the back wheels from spinning. Hardly any traction when they got wet. The weight distribution in that car was all whacky.

As for my favorites I think I'll have to go with the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, loved everything about that car! Never owned one but had the chance to drive it a couple of times both on track and in traffic.
I also have a soft spot for the Audi RS6, it just feels like it has unlimited power when you drive it
A friend of mine built a Toyota Supra with around 950-1000hp, that was kind of wild to drive too...

The first brand new vehicle we ever bought was a '79 Dodge Ramcharger 4X4, burgundy and white with a roll bar and removable roof. It was beautiful. I'd never driven a truck before. Loved the view from up high and knowing that if an accident happened, odds were the other car would be smaller so we'd be safer.
We only took it off-road once and never removed the roof, but enjoyed many trips w/o overheating on steep grades. The full-time 4 WD was mostly overkill in the city but helpful a few times. Soon after getting it, we found a neighbor's guest had parked in our carport spot for the umpteenth time. When they didn't respond to honking my husband used the Ramcharger to drag their car out into the alley, where we left it. Great fun and they didn't park there again!

I've still got my '88 ramcharger, will probably sell it this summer though. It was the last year they made them without a computer, and with a carburetor. No removable roof, but it has a 5.9 liter v8 engine in it that runs awesome and the whole thing still has less than ~160k miles on it. I'll probably sell it for the price of the stereo, wheels and tires lol, it just doesn't fit me anymore and I'm not sure it ever did; I just kind of ended up with it. I got a great deal on it and finished fixing it up, but haven't taken it off-road in years.
edit: I just remembered that I had a roommate with an og-era rx7, that was also fun car.
Much better than the miata I drove a decade or two later!
