What's NEW??

So, I am still chugging along very happily with my EVO, Pax, and SSV backup. I also have a Solo, but I lost the charger, LOL.
Anyway... WHAT'S NEW? And I mean new and exciting as far as vaporizers go? I'm thinking i need a new unit and could use some suggestions. Here is what I need:

1)Vape for the bedroom that does not have a cord. So, yea a portable that doesn't really need a lot of portability. I want to be be able to have it in my nightstand and ready to go after I'm in bed and have already ran downstairs several times to use the EVO and/or dab.
2) Heavy hitting for nighty-night time!
3) Nice flavor (for flowers, BTW)
4) Easy to use and quick heat-up
5) Discreet enough that I don't wake the wife up while I assemble shit and/or wait for heat-up, etc.

So, there you have it. I have been using my old Pax for this and a vape pen. But I have some incredible strains right now and I'm getting that VAS feeling again. It's been a while!!

GreenHopper

20 going on 60
Currently available electric Portable Vaporizers for flower (some can do concentrates to some degree as well)

Tubo Evic

Portable, not pocketable.

PRO's:
  • Been around for a bit and used by many FC members so proved it's worth
  • Cruise Control - unit has an e-cig mod as it's brain so Temperature Control is used to maintain the heating temp as best as can be done.
  • 18mm bowl
  • All glass air path (unless you use the whip)
  • Not used it myself but users report excellent power, flavour and control
  • Good battery life (be aware there is the single 18650 version and a newer 2x 18650 version)
  • Easy to clean
  • Quick warm up time
  • Good customer service
CON's:
  • To big to fit in pocket
  • Design doesn't suit everyone's preference
  • Might be a wait list but not sure
OTHER
  • Made by a member of FC forums not a large company

Ghost MV-1

Portable, maybe pocketable, new on market, unique cooling feature

PRO's:
  • Users report excellent flavour, power and very well cooled vapour
  • Unique glass vapor path cools vapor improving flavor
  • Decent battery life
  • Easy to clean
  • Replaceable batteries but proprietary not off the shelf
  • ELB style loading mechanism
  • Quick warm up time
CON's:
  • New to market so still getting user experiences
  • Silicone in the vapor path (or adjacent to it depending on who you talk to)
  • Requires an initial burn off to avoid off gassing from silicone
  • Batteries are proprietary
  • Control interface seems lame (one button, LED lights, should IMO be OLED)
  • ELB loading mechanism could do with a little refinement
  • Design doesn't suit everyone's preference
OTHER:
  • Backed by Vape Critic
  • New startup company
Notable Mentions:

HealthyRips Fury (convection)

SOLO 2 is out (more session)

Milaana is similar to Tubo Evic but requires the user to control the experience through draw speed and feathering the power button. (session or one large rip)

GrassHopper is amazing for stealth and ease of use but has reliability issues. (can do session but excels at one large rip)

Da Vinci IQ is a good upgrade from the PAX if you like conduction style vapes. (session only)

Currently available butane Portable Vaporizers for flower (some can do concentrates to some degree as well)

VapCap by DynaVap

Very convenient great cloud and flavor producing device, basically wood + glass + clever design

PRO's:
  • Good flavour
  • Great price for entry model
  • Very small and portable
  • Not batteries to worry about
  • Heat then use (no need to heat while drawing)
  • Temperature indicator (the click)
  • Many different models (described by users as Vape Lego)
  • Tried and tested by FC community
  • Very easy to clean
  • Great customer service
CON's:
  • Draw restriction (especially on entry model, some what alleviated by users modifying the air path slightly)
  • Exposed hot tip
  • Learning curve (although not too bad)

Sticky Brick (various models)

Very convenient great cloud and flavor producing device, basically wood + glass + clever design

PRO's:
  • Great flavor
  • Good price
  • No batteries to worry about
  • Jr model is small, hydro max works with water tools
  • No waiting for warm up (immediate)
  • Tried and tested by FC community
  • Good customer service
CON's:
  • There is wood in the vapor path which can be somewhat hard to clear of resin buildup
  • Torch/lighter is used whilst drawing on the device
  • Learning curve
  • Exposed hot tip
OTHER:
  • There are a number of similar devices on the market like the Dreamwood Dobby Vaporizer. Worth checking those out if this type of device interests you
  • Multiple models to choose from

Upcoming and Unreleased Portable electric Vaporizers for flower (some can do concentrates to some degree as well)
  • Haze Square (4 chambers, replaceable heating element)
  • iHeat + iHeat 510 (The heater goes on any ecig mod, can use Temperature Control)
  • RBT Splinter (The heater goes on any ecig mod)
Obviously there are other vapes out there (PAX 3, Boundless, etc..) and others will have opinions on PRO's vs CON's but the above is a quick list of vapes that seem to suit your requirements.

The electric models will probably be more subtle to use than the butane models but don't discount the butane models, they are very popular.

Notable mention of the FlowerPot E-Nail style vape that does flower hit's. Loads of positive reviews on that heavy hitter. Not portable or bedroom friendly though.

How about the new versions of the Crafty or Mighty. If money is a factor get the older versions which have dropped significantly in cost.

How about one from the Boundless line?

OR.....pick up the new Solo II and you'll have a charger that works with your old Solo as well. Back up for your back up :D

The Solo charger is $29 at PIU and an OG Solo can be found for about $135 just about everywhere now too.

Tubo or Mistvape Touch. Simple to use without much assembly. The maker of the tubo often updates the software based on requested changes. I've stopped updating mine because it's fine as it is so it isn't necessary. You can also get a whip with it and or glass stems.

I don't know if you want to use the solo but my solo one fit cords from several other vapes.

My Healthy Rips Fury (now Fury 2) is my night time vape. It is a no fuss vape, just load it up turn it on and you are pretty much ready to go. The controls are super easy (just on/off, temp up or down), 3 buttons. It is quiet, and heats up to 360 in about 22 seconds. The vapors are really smooth so you won't be coughing up a lung and waking up your SO. You can use the vape in the dark, the digital screen is small and discrete, you can see the temp but you will not be lighting up the entire room. This vape hits like a beast! It is mainly a convection vape. Lastly it is only $149 USD.

I need simple and cordless in the middle of the night when I have a pain flar or can't get back to sleep.
Arizer came out with the Solo 2 and Air 2 recently with upgrades to the originals. I use my Solo 2 it has the digital temp display and easy set up - just load and turn on. Sometimes I have it preloaded. You can choose your exact tempreture and session time.

The Grasshopper is a good unit for using it in bed but not quite as dependable as other units. The GH isn't exactly new but Hopper Labs have upgraded from the original. They haven't come out with a totally new GH though.

I love the Milaana. A heavier hitter that uses batteries but it's not new.

@little maggie I would agree about the Mistvape Touch. Just have it pre-loaded and take as many pulls as you need and then set it down. It takes 8-10 seconds heat up for on-demand convection vaping. It is unregulated and may require some patience to learn optimum use.

Ha! I may just order one on Ebay today. Maybe the Solo is what I need for now!

G_d knows how long you'll have to wait, but I have to add the Nomad.

The 1st units haven't hit the streets yet, but it's a hand made thing of beauty!
