Whats a good VVPS

Easywider

Simple is the way
Good question. I’m wondering the same myself. I’ve seen some interesting looking vvps in some halo / aov posts. Wondering what they are and where one could get one. Love to see something that’s as display worthy as the devices they run.

Don’t try the drok bucks they overheat. The ones that REFC suggest sound ideal. I made this Vvps for around $25 all together. I’m returning some bucks and ordering the one REFC suggest. This cheap one for $15 works pretty decent at keeping the current steadyEEA49ABF-14F3-4CC5-A07D-F61D14FA35E5.jpeg

Resurrecting this old thread to see if anyone has any newer suggestions? My name came up for a GTR but ordering the VVPS separately as I'm in the UK.

The ATM from red is still the best, not sure if they are still available, but you can also just get a great one from Alan with your GTR.. He has awesome mini and micro VVPS designs, I have two different ones, the basic in a plastic shell, and the larger with buttons on a wood base (this one is actually fantastic)

It's more dealing with another voltage converter rather than having one that's meant for the 240V UK power.

The REFC shell is available but I'm not really looking for a project.

There are a few bench power supplies, and buck boost modules, and cases for modules that need cases on eBay
You'll also need some wire and connectors or connectors with pigtails and a laptop power supply

It's honestly like a 30 min project and that generously factors in watching the video separately first and unpacking materials iirc. Super easy to do and only very slightly more difficult if you have larger mitts, mine aren't small. Well worth the effort imo.

Sorry this is out of my expertise, I don't really know any of the terminology or anything about UK power, I just ask Alan those questions as I am ordering, have you tried that? I'm sure he can point you in the right direction... if not hook you up all together

Yeah they had a few prebuilt available in the past, and might be able to build one for you now by request? Just extra cost of labor

Yeah but ordering REFC stuff also defeats the point of sourcing that isn't being shipped overseas 😂

I know something like this should be fine

Not sure about the GTR, but the Heat Island uses a 5.5mm x 2.1mm plug, this is 5.5mm x 2.5mm.

I couldn't find a VVPS with 5.5mm x 2.1mm in the UK/EU, so I got an adapter such as this one, works fine.
