What is your preference for a connection on a bong for a whip or mouthpiece?

So I am finishing up a bong I am working on that will have a removable connection on it. The intention was I could use this w a mouthpiece w a glass on glass connector or a whip. I was thinking originally this would be a 14 mm male connector.

Looking recently a a Silver Surfer or something like that used Female connector for their whip.

So my question is, what is your preference for a male or female connector for this? Can a case be made to do it one way or another.? Is there a convention.?

Most of the whip connections I have are male on the hose end (Cloud Connoisseur, TAG, etc). But the SBL Hydrobrick has a female end on the whip. Nice thing about that is that it's big enough to provide a window on the vapor so you can see how your hit is going. If your bong was ceramic or otherwise opaque, I'd consider female for that reason.

And you can always use a male-male adapter which is less obtrusive and noticeable than the other way around

true about the adapter, i just wanted to do what seemed to be most prevalent.
