What is this thing?

I was using a normal sized qtip (in picture) to clean out a ryby dish in the pocket bowl. Afterwards I noticed this extremely tiny torus on the cotton swab.

Maybe 1-2mm wide at most.

I've been using that same set up for a couple years and never seen anything like this before. I really don't think it came from the pockety. I think if it had been in the name brand, legal concentrate I would have noticed will putting it into the bowl, but maybe not?

Any ideas?

Unless your material was solventless It could be the seal some BHO extractors have where you put the nozzle of the butane can.
It was from a very well known legal brand that is live resin and is supposed to not be BHO. It was a "sugar" form, which I don't know if they can even make with BHO. Do you know if they can?

Live resin is typically BHO and always a solvent based extract.
Often a butane/propane blend.
Sugar wax is a common consistency of BHO.

Looks like the sort of o-ring that certain earrings have - mine do - but I doubt it's from them. Who knows, could be a clumsy/fiddly stoner moment with their jewelry, but

I'm seconding this. As inverted said, live resin and sugar are usually used when referring to solvent-based extracts.

Regardless, I would be complaining to the dispensary/company you bought the extract from, since it's contaminated product, and if it is from someone's earrings that's a biohazard:disgust:.

The other alternative is that it's from the pockety itself, but looking at images and videos I can't see anywhere that an o-ring like that would be used. I don't have one myself so I can't reliably say whether or not it would have that component, but it doesn't appear to be from the pockety. Might be wise to have a good look at all the components that make up the chamber and see if anything looks amiss, just in case.

Crap. I was told by a budtender that if it says "live resin" then they didn't use BHO. So that isn't true?

Either way, the brand claims that it's solvent less. A few legal companies have gotten in trouble before, so I'm getting more and more concerned about trusting these supposedly legit companies.

Smells like popcorn
There is rosin that has a runny jam consistency depending on how it is cured post processing but if it says "resin" and not "rosin" it's extracted using a solvent. This could be butane, propane, supercritical CO2, or ethanol.

Budtender likely didn't know as a lot of them don't have the in depth knowledge they should.

Solvent extract companies often claim their products are “solvent free” which sounds a lot like “solventless” but doesn’t have the same meaning within the industry.
Live resin and live rosin sound so close to the same thing that they are also frequently used incorrectly.
