No. Her father just died and it was in his collection. The inner tube has a hole it the bottom. I'm thinking maybe you fill it with water and it displaces the air in the inner tube, and as you raise the inner tube out light the bowl. Perhaps it's Polish (or Italian or Irish: put your own race-baiting term). Seems like an awfully designed piece.

Yeah 99% of gravity bongs are basically pipes. No water filtration. Still, cooler than a short dry pipe.
Their main purpose is that you can pack a really small bowl and get an efficient rip out of it.
edit: like @dorkus_molorkus said, good for rationing.
Never been a fan. I found the waterfall bong much more fun.
Her Dad was a pretty good friend of mine. I think it was her way to give me a physical piece of Jimmy as a remembrance, although I never saw him use it. Even if I never use it, I'll remember where I got it. It's at least a good conversation piece. But thanks for the idea.

So I bet it is pretty fun to use....Sorry about your loss. I would give it a try as a tribute. At least fill it up and see it function. It looks like you would spark a bowl, I know yuk. Rise it up and the suction will fill the chamber with smoke. Remove the slide and the smoke should shoot straight out the top. Hmmm. It might be Polish....lol
Well, it's ok. I'm sure it's better when one gets the hang of it. Lighting the bowl while raising the tube involves coordination, and doing so while keeping the end of the tube still submerged in water adds an element of "rubbing your head and patting your stomach", or however that goes. Personally, I think you have to work too hard for your hit. Additionally, the amount of air that the water displaces volume-wise isn't that large of a hit.

That really is the nicest gravity bong I've ever seen. Back in college my friends and I would rip 2 liter grav bongs all the time but only because it really conserved weed. I think that's probably one of the worst ways to smoke, nothing like a lung full of thick stale dry smoke followed by 20 minute coughing fit. I imagine a nice small glass one like that would be a little smoother though.
