What is the better PID?

Hey there,
since my ballvape comes without a PID controller ill have to get one myself. I can get either model by crossing technologies.
Now the seller told me that the small green one heats up much faster and also regulates better while inhaling, but he also mentioned that the unit has no auto tuning function for the PID parameters. So im wondering if it will work with any standard 16mm coil as long as the voltage and pinout are correct? Does anyone know?

If so, im wondering where the PID parameters come from without auto tuning….

Altho I have both, I dunno about performance to be honest
The bottom ones are very light and flimsy feeling in comparison to the top ones
And I'm not a fan of the screen on the top as I often have more than one on the table and like to stack them
So I only keep it as a backup for my Newvape controller really

This part is false. The Crossing Micro PID controller doesn't update live temperature on the display. It isn't holding it more stable, it just doesn't tell you the temperature dropped. Six String explains this very well here:

I have the micro PID and an Auber, but I don't find the micro heats up any faster. I know lots of folks who have both and I have never heard that is faster than the many xmt7200 devices.

I'd be a bit wary of that seller after they made those claims. At least shop around for the best price. Both those controllers can be found quite cheaply on Ali, and are available from multiple sites.

Both of these will work fine with any coil with the correct pin out.

the seller did mention the static display on the micro pid. Still, according to him the micro is much faster he does sell both models for the exact same price. He is not some chinese fella but from a reputable eu vaping shop. If anyone has both and cares to compare heat up times id be very interested in the results.

ps: maybe the heat up time is different at 220v as opposed to 110v….

Simply from a thermodynamics perspective, there’s absolutely no reason to believe one would heat twice as fast as the other. Regardless, we can’t prove a negative, so the real burden of proof falls squarely upon the dude making the claim.

If I were to be buying a new PID, I would for sure pick up the Auber one. I've never used one, but I would kill for that dial to change my temps rather than the shitty buttons every PID has

You can pick up the micro for about half the price of the other one on Aliexpress and DHGate (I paid £25 delivered)
Replacing the chip may be just as easy with both units but I don't know that for a fact
Whereas I do know I can pick up a new xmt7200 chip for the top one for under £20 that I know I can fit in 5mins, if I need
But is it worth it? When you can pick up a new micro for less than £25 delivered

The Jcvap ADL 7100-A is also another option

I don't have the original sturdier Crossing Tech' pid but I do have the 2nd and I also have one I made myself many eons ago which is the same style I showed to Crossing and they used a very similar style enclosure. The original Crossing one or my diy one do feel more substantial and have a bit more weight but the smaller one does feel more than sturdy enough, unless you plan on jumping up and down on top of it repeatedly. Anyway it does definitely heat up quicker than my diy unit and others ive used. It heats up the coil to temperature in just under a minute, obviously it still takes extra time to heat soak your banger or ball vape so depending on which ball vape I give it an extra 5 to 10 minutes once the coil hits the set temperature. The one downside is because the actual pid unit is so light if you use a wireless ball vape type Coil , such as the ones with a metal sleeve around the cord to hold the ball vape in your preferred position so it's stand is the coil the added weight of the metal casing and the ball vape in the metal cased coil can cause it to tip over very easily if not set right. I am thinking of making some cuatome 3d printed pid cases in the future but I'm also going to design a base station to slot the little Crossing PID into So it should give me some extra storage slots and hopefully make it a little more stable for wireless units. It does seem to work very well apart from the above and maybe the shape doesn't help with that too as it's rounded on the edges but the advantage of the shape is it should be easy to take anywhere and pack it in a big pocket . Technically it shouldn't heat up any faster but I think the newer coils maybe higher wattage coils which could be whynit heats up faster unfortunately I have a different pin out on my old diy unit so can't test one coil against another I'll have to get round to it as it's a 5 minute job. Anyway whether it's the coil or not it definitely seems to heat up faster. Thinking about it that could also be down to the PID settings that were used when it was calibrated at the factory. That's one of the benefits of my diy one and I presume the original Crossing pid unit you can auto tune them for a selected temperature so they work the best for that environment.

I have man fingers and find the crowded buttons on most PIDs annoying. Enough so that I purchased a knob controlled Auber RDK-350B. Function wise it's okay, and the online documentation is very useful.

I've been very happy with my Auber for years now.
Though, I have nothing else to compare it to.
So, I could be missing something awesome in another similar PID that I don't know about.

I'm sure it's far from the best. But I have plenty of evidence to indicate that it's good enough, and possibly one of the best bangs for the buck still.

I only got the newer Crossing pid as the Screwball was only available as a complete kit when I got it otherwise I'd of just bought the ballvape and bowl. But I do really like the new Crossing pid. I plan on making some sort of housing for it hopefully with some slots and holes for holding all the bits n bobs that can be used with it. I've started designing the Delorean just need to add the holes for the touch screen pid and sockets. May also add some extra female glass joint slots if there's enough room.

If you have the Auber I'd stick with that. I'm pretty sure it heats quicker because of the higher wattage coil. I suppose it could also be how they've setup the pid in the Crossing unit.
