What Heat Gun to Buy For DIY Vape

Hello all,

I have been doing a lot of research into building my own vape. I wanted a brand name on for a while but then figured that, hey, im pretty good at building shit, so why dont i just do that! Anyway, after a lot of research I realized that I want to get an LED display digtial heat gun with fan control and variable temperature control. I have found these cheaper ones so far.

Anyone have any advice or should I just buy one of them? I can adapt it to be a whip or bag filled so its the best of both worlds. Any help would be appreciated.

Actually if anyone has done this before like I know a lot of you have, help and tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

This heat gun rocks (I own it). Quiet, heats up in no time, ceramic encapsulated heating element, reads out temp to 10 degrees, very quality build.

Also, please let me know what your DIY idea is, because my heatgun has been out of commission ever since I broke my vriptech VCB that it fit into (would rather make my own little thing at home then buy a new VCB and a new bong since I don't own a bong anymore).

I know it is expensive but all others seem to compromise something in comparison.

hi my i had a high end steinel for a while with a digi temp readout and a bosch with digi temp readout and they were good but the good old makita hg1100 with the rotary dial worked best for me because the others can only be adjusted in 10 degree increments and the temp readout isnt very accurate whereas the makita is more finely adjustable altho it doesnt have a temp readout, so when you taste burnt popcorn just back it down til its tasty vapor all the way. Of course my makita is used only for stripping paint and melting shit now that the amazing VHW is finally a reality!! Mmmmmm silent vapors!

The $19.95 Mini Heat Gun set at 500?F also looks interesting. Maybe the temperature could be adjusted down by simply attaching a metal concentrator, a short tube or other heat exchanger onto the outlet.

Well now I'm worried about health things with the heat guns. I didn't think about the fact that they can be dangerous. I really am trying to decide on what kind of heat gun to buy, or what vaporizer to buy. I would like to get a vaporizer with a fan, where the heating element doesn't touch it because it evenly cooks the herb, however, these are usually loud and expensive. However, heat stick style vapes like the vapor bros one I am using now, don't cook the herb evenly and I end up wasting a lot of it. Any thoughts on this? I do like the vapor bros one, but it is the only one I have used, and I still think that it is not efficient enough for my tastes. I was thinking heat gun into a bag, but anyone have any better ideas?

P.S. trying to get the healthiest pull possible, with maximum effect.

Check the thread that eLiguL posted above. I'd go with a 'trusted' name brand with rohs compliance.

That's a bit of a generalization there. Are you stirring the herb between hits? Most whip vapes can be cranked up hot enough to ignite the herb and can definitely cook the hell out of your herb if that's your definition of efficiency.

I don't think any good vape is really healthier than another. Vaping at high temperatures and trying to vape every last bit out of your herb is when you start to release toxins and more particulate matter.

'Maximum effect' is pretty subjective... if you're going for super efficiency I'd take a look at the Purple-Days. It has a very small bowl (~0.025g - small load efficiently heated) and makes it fun to be efficient taking lots of fresh little hits. 'little' isn't even accurate; just check out the clouds in some PD vids.

Kind of sounds like you're not really sure what you want.

I'm not sure what I want, which is why I need your guys' help. With my whip vape I keep the temp at something low, and I do stir while vaping, I also take about 3 hits without holding the whip to the heat, then I touch it back to the heat to warm it up and continue. I find that this prevents combustion pretty well. As soon as I taste that sharp "fangs in your throat" taste, I remove it from the heat. I don't mind doing this, but I would rather not have to. After looking into the extreme, I am probably going to get it. (Thanks vtac!) but I would still like to know how loud it is, and if the fan speed is adjustable

It is hard to describe loudness as it is of coarse subjective, the Extreme has 3 fan settings and to my ears #1 is very quiet #2 can be heard in another room and #3 is loud but not blow dryer loud.

If an unfamiliar heat gun claims RoHS certification, is being sold by an established U.S. stocking dealer and nothing bad shows up in a Google search, is that sufficient to trust the product in terms of basic safety (not being hazardous)?
