I'm for putting an end to this abomination. Pad and laptop segregation needs to be paramount. Anything less is computational blasphemy.
Normally I'd agree with you @lwien - but I have a situation in which I need a high powered 2-in-1 computer which I can use for 3D scanning.
I looked at every core i7 2-in-1 on the market 6 months ago with no budget, and couldn't find a damn one I liked! The Lenovo Thinkpad yoga was tempting, but it's had a ghosting issue affecting all 10" LG screens and some build quality concerns.
The surface 3 is tempting, but I don't think I saw a core i7 model available

You're actually quite right however, a pad and a laptop normally should be segregated and used as sole purpose devices. A jack of all is a master of none

What would dictate that it has to be that way though? Why can't a hybrid be as good as dedicated units? I'm not saying that they are right now, but I don't see a reason why they couldn't be, eh?

I think they are pretty damn good right now, and IMO, I think all computers will be like this eventually.
To me it's about performance and form factor - you don't need the high performance you might need from a laptop. Additionally number of inputs - things like USB ports are big and bulky and add to the thickness of the unit overall. Hence why true tablets eliminate all of these plugs and require external adapters.
Of course, it's the classic Maxell logo, duh! (Kidding! It's the infamous blown away picture by Steve Steigman - I'm an audiophile at heart, I can't wait to get a large print of this framed for my theater room/man cave)

Well that's new! I've only seen i5's! That's actually not a bad price... Might need to hop on one of those in a bit - My 3D scanning takes forever currently because I'm running at 3fps! (Stereoscopic cameras with laser rangefinder and object tracking)

The JBL L100 in that pic was my first speaker that I ever bought. I'm an audiophile at heart as well. Was in the consumer electronics business for over 40 years.

Ill never understand pre built rigs. Diy so much cheaper. Way more bang for your buck. It's really not as hard to do as people think.
I agree, for home rigs, but portable, pre-assembled is way smaller,lighter, and durable. My old Lenovo X61T is 7 years old and still going strong (upgraded to win7, and added an SSD, maxed out ram). My favorite part is how every screw on the bottom of my laptop is pre-labeled with icons to indicate what screw removes what component (keyboard/mobo/ram/etc) - when you buy quality components, they don't break as often. (Sadly, Lenovo's business class devices have gone down hill over the years it seems).

You can't compare a laptop/tablet combo to a barebones Clevo/Sager laptop much less a complete custom build. They fill a niche that no typical laptop can. I have a shoe-box-sized SFF PC with custom water loop and I have a Lenovo Yoga, neither can take the place of the other. By the time you buy an OS, some DIY builds aren't that much cheaper than prebuilt PC's.

I just won this for my ipad3, cost = $9.25 shipped 
I haven't been able to wean myself of my old tx2 running vista, not opposed to windows but it's old so gonna try to get used to ios on the ipad again. The tx2 was the perfect form factor but slow as hell. The retina ipad has already replaced the e-readers but it's harder to replace a laptop. Anyways I hope I like this case.
