What do you put your vape/bong on?

I'm looking into getting the Glass Gripper 3.0 for the base of the vape and for the base of a bubbler (a small comfort and precaution)

or a standard Mousepad to rest everything on safely. Does anyone have rubber feet on their paraphernalia for safety? I hate the feeling of glass pipes touching down on glass tables. Makes me worry about something breaking.

I've been meaning to find something more "monumental," or at least something more interesting, but for now, I have about 5 of these mats around my place, some for cleaning / drying, and some for resting.

But I'm looking for something that smells less like rubber and makes me look cooler. They sure do offer protection though.

I have never liked the idea of using something made of rubber, I feel it would increase your chances of tipping. When I knock something into my glass or give it a little push for whatever reason, I want it to move... not hold onto the desk and get knocked over. IMO, something that will allow your piece to slide is a better option unless your glass is always in a safe stationary place.

I use a handmade loop potholder that was made by my disabled friend. It has just enough padding and a raised edge that helps keep it under my glass when I slide it across my desk. Cheap or free, simple, and effective - http://www.ebay.com/sch/Handcrafted-Finished-Pieces-/71183/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=loop+potholder . I've been using one of these for at least a year now and I can't think of a better option for me, it's the perfect coaster for your bong... but probably not for everyone.

This is what I use and they work great, also they are silicone so if you are into concentrates, they won't end up permanently stuck to your pad. Also great protection and slip proof. @Caligula can attest, I have him an extra one I had.

Shit yes. Cant beat free (the again btw)! Also I see these exact same mats being rebranded under the "Successful Stoner" label and are being sold for $15 each! They don't even put a fancy logo on it or anything. Same shapes, colors, etc... even has the hole for hanging it up in the kitchen.

Also BBB sells these if you want just one. I think they want like 5 bucks for them.

Great point @Kief if you are prone to bumping into your glass or leaving it out in the open, non-slip may not be the best thing. I'm fairly careful with my glass and keep it hidden away in a cabinet when not in use. I have a wooden coffee table with a lip the whole way around it though so most mats won't slide on my table either way, I like that I can literally line up bhombs in the little holes of the mats I have and not have to worry about them sticking.

However... what happens when you hit your glass or vape hard enough to truly knock it over? What will save it then?

I nudge and bump my glass all the time and have never experienced any tipping. I'd rather have something that will save my glass if it does fall. :shrug:

I like the appearance of this the most, but everyone elses answers are a bit more practical. I think in the end the BEST solution for all of us would be a board/mat with custom grooves built into it to place our paraphernalia into. A nice secure fit!

How do you mean more practical? And I don't mean to sound like a dick here, I truly am curious about all this, and always ready to improve the general safety of my station.

IME, you either nudge your glass harmlessly, or you knock it all the way over. I've yet to experience anything in-between, at least since using my, admittedly, less-than-perfect rubber mats.

Practicality wise, I think the security of large rubber mat (I use a double-size for my main "work" station) makes more sense, as it provides more security. But I can see how the other mats might render that a moot point, as they more be more difficult to tip over.

But, for my money, for the worst of times, that shit is going to be knocked over. And when it does, I want more than a tiny little square or circle to catch it when it does.

Again, mean no offense. Just my opinion.

I would think that a harmless slide would be better than a rubber grip & tip over, but maybe rubber is going to be more effective at actually catching the glass if/when it does fall. I like the idea of a bloody big rubber mat actually, or THESE.

@EveryDayAmnesiac I've looked into the Glass Gripper 3.0 and it basically stops the bong/pipe from being knocked over altogether. Its sticky on both sides, so you apply it to the base of your glass and then when you set it dow it is firmly stuck there. Not sure how easy it is to remove but hopefully it doesn't require so much force that you're tugging it and bong water flies everywhere.
This is a tricky one... A stoner accessory store needs to have already made something like this, where is it?

Honestly, buying good, thick, schott glass that has been properly blown and kilned is the best way to save your glass IME. My Hitman sidecar bubbler has taken falls that would have shattered some of my cheaper pieces.

They make these things called dashboard grippers, that are this semi-sticky surface. Nice thing is it comes off easily, no residue and nothing permanently attached.

For the truly budget-minded, just a few bucks for a roll of rubber liner made for drawers.

Honestly I couldn't bear to attach anything to glass pieces. With the big bases on my oil rigs, knocking it over seems unlikely. Can a D020 even be knocked over?

Edit: Realized the OP was about glass-on-glass contact, not knocking the piece over. I hate glass coffee tables. Wood rocks.

IME, your friends will ALWAYS find a way to tip over / drop your glass if you give them half a chance, even if it has a solid base on it. :ugh:

It's those quick turnarounds when elbows have plenty of force and hit near the top of the glass.... and down it goes. Even if it doesn't break, the piece will remember it for later on...

Could you post a link to this? I wouldn't mind getting one of those things if they are actually designed for heating up bongs.. That may be just what I was after!
