waterpipe vs bubbler with the anvil

I currently have a jet waterpipe (the xl size) that I am using with the anvil. I am not using any extra discs, and the water level is at a minimal. I feel like I am getting too much drag from it and was wondering if I would be better served by a bubbler or would it be better to get a smaller tube for the jet waterpipe? Or am I over thinking and what I am using is as good as it gets without spending a lot more?

Have you played with the airflow settings on the Anvil? Also, if you want to use it with glass, the WPA for the Anvil is considerably more open airflow.

Hmmm, that should not be too restricted with anything. When I think of that WPA, I think "wide open"
